Scaling function in AdS/CFT from the O(6) sigma model
Asymptotic behavior of the anomalous dimensions of Wilson operators with high
spin and twist is governed in planar N=4 SYM theory by the scaling function
which coincides at strong coupling with the energy density of a two-dimensional
bosonic O(6) sigma model. We calculate this function by combining the two-loop
correction to the energy density for the O(n) model with two-loop correction to
the mass gap determined by the all-loop Bethe ansatz in N=4 SYM theory. The
result is in agreement with the prediction coming from the thermodynamical
limit of the quantum string Bethe ansatz equations, but disagrees with the
two-loop stringy corrections to the folded spinning string solution.Comment: 25 pages, 2 figure
Formation of the First Stars by Accretion
The process of star formation from metal-free gas is investigated by
following the evolution of accreting protostars with emphasis on the properties
of massive objects. The main aim is to establish the physical processes that
determine the upper mass limit of the first stars. Although the consensus is
that massive stars were commonly formed in the first cosmic structures, our
calculations show that their actual formation depends sensitively on the mass
accretion rate and its time variation. Even in the rather idealized case in
which star formation is mainly determined by dot{M}acc, the characteristic mass
scale of the first stars is rather uncertain. We find that there is a critical
mass accretion rate dot{M}crit = 4 10^{-3} Msun/yr that separates solutions
with dot{M}acc> 100 Msun can form,
provided there is sufficient matter in the parent clouds, from others
(dot{M}acc > dot{M}crit) where the maximum mass limit decreases as dot{M}acc
increases. In the latter case, the protostellar luminosity reaches the
Eddington limit before the onset of hydrogen burning at the center via the
CN-cycle. This phase is followed by a rapid and dramatic expansion of the
radius, possibly leading to reversal of the accretion flow when the stellar

NGC 3603 - a Local Template for Massive Young Clusters
We present a study of the star cluster associated with the massive Galactic
HII region NGC3603 based on near-IR broad-- and narrowband observations taken
with ISAAC/VLT under excellent seeing conditions (<0.4''). We discuss
color-color diagrams and address the impact of the high UV flux on the disk

Labial fusion is defined as either partial or complete adherence of the labia minora (1), and also called vulvar fusion, adhesions of the labia minor or conglutination of the labia minora and sinechia of the vulva. The complete and severe labial fusion is a rare pathology with a small number of cases reported in the literature in adults. We present a case report of a postmenopausal woman who presented with voiding difficulty and incontinence and was treated by surgical division of the adhesions and immediate resolution of the urinary incontinence confirmed by multichannel urodynamic test postoperatively

Elastic properties of hydrogenated graphene
There exist three conformers of hydrogenated graphene, referred to as chair-,
boat-, or washboard-graphane. These systems have a perfect two-dimensional
periodicity mapped onto the graphene scaffold, but they are characterized by a
orbital hybridization, have different crystal symmetry, and otherwise
behave upon loading. By first principles calculations we determine their
structural and phonon properties, as well as we establish their relative
stability. Through continuum elasticity we define a simulation protocol
addressed to measure by a computer experiment their linear and nonlinear
elastic moduli and we actually compute them by first principles. We argue that
all graphane conformers respond to any arbitrarily-oriented extention with a
much smaller lateral contraction than the one calculated for graphene.
Furthermore, we provide evidence that boat-graphane has a small and negative
Poisson ratio along the armchair and zigzag principal directions of the carbon
honeycomb lattice (axially auxetic elastic behavior). Moreover, we show that
chair-graphane admits both softening and hardening hyperelasticity, depending

Shocks and PDRs in an intermediate mass star forming globule: the case of IC1396N
The dark globule IC1396N is a typical example of a star formation process induced by radiation driven implosion due to the strong UV field from a nearby O6 star. The IRAS source embedded in the globule and its associated molecular outflow have been observed with the Long Wavelength Spectrometer (LWS) on ISO revealing an extremely rich spectrum including: CO rotational lines from J=14-13 up to J=28-27, rotational lines from ortho-H2O, OH lines involving the first four rotational levels of both ladders, atomic (OI 63μm, OI 145μm) and ionic (CII 157μm, OIII 52μm, OIII 88μm) lines. A complex picture arises, where an externally illuminated PDR coexists with strong C-shocks within IC1396N and whose origin is not clear
Analysis of roles and groups in blogosphere
In the paper different roles of users in social media, taking into
consideration their strength of influence and different degrees of
cooperativeness, are introduced. Such identified roles are used for the
analysis of characteristics of groups of strongly connected entities. The
different classes of groups, considering the distribution of roles of users

Nonlinear elasticity of monolayer graphene
By combining continuum elasticity theory and tight-binding atomistic
simulations, we work out the constitutive nonlinear stress-strain relation for
graphene stretching elasticity and we calculate all the corresponding nonlinear
elastic moduli. Present results represent a robust picture on elastic behavior
of one-atom thick carbon sheets and provide the proper interpretation of recent
experiments. In particular, we discuss the physical meaning of the effective
nonlinear elastic modulus there introduced and we predict its value in good
agreement with available data. Finally, a hyperelastic softening behavior is
observed and discussed, so determining the failure properties of graphene.Comment: 4 page
