    IMPACTS OF PST ON OPTIMAL PRODUCTION AND MARKETING DECISIONS OF A GROW-FINISH HOG FARM OPERATION

    This paper examines the impact of PST on the optimal production/marketing decisions of a grow-finish hog farm operation. The analysis evaluates PST from three angles: the feed efficiency effect, the leaner meat price effect, and the aggregate-supply-induced price effect. When limited to the feed efficiency effect only, the primary response to the new technology is to increase the animal turnover rate of the operation. When the leaner meat price effect is also included, marketing weight increases while turnover rate remains relatively unchanged. Additionally, if the increased aggregate supply depressed the market price by more than 10%, the benefits from improved feed efficiency and learner meat will be completely dissipated. Aggregate price adjustments (reductions) of less than 10 percent maintained positive producer benefits resulting from improved feed efficiency and leaner meat.Livestock Production/Industries,

    Objective: Floating bioadhesive tablets of hydrochlorothiazide were developed to prolong gastric residence time leading to an increase in drugbioavailability where here a combination of floating and bioadhesion mechanism is combined.Methods: Tablets are prepared by direct compression technique using polymers xanthan gum, carbopol 974 P, HPMC K15M, HPMC K100M, magnesiumStearate USP-NF (Avicel PH 102), microcrystalline cellulose Ph 102, Talc, and sodium bicarbonate.Results: Tablets were evaluated for their physical characteristics, namely, hardness, thickness, friability and weight variation, drug content, andfloating properties. The best formulation subjected for kinetic treatment, i.e., zero order, first order, peppas, Higuchi, and Hixon-crowel. The R valuesare 0.9366, 0.9364, 0.9680, 0.9974, and 0.9283, respectively.Conclusion: Optimized formulae F4 containing polymers HPMC K4M and CARBOPOL 974 P showed more bioadhesion with a controlled release over12 hrs. Therefore, formulation F4 identified as a successful formulation for the development of floating bioadhesive tablets.Â

    Grama Swarajya Samithi (GSS) is a non - governmental organization involved in various developmental activities in Visakhapatnam District and the focus groups are children, women, tribal, rural and urban disadvantaged communities for the last 20 years. The ‘Urban WASH - Swachh Bharat Swachh Vidyalaya’ project, a three-year project that aims to promote sanitation, effective use and ownership of school Water, Sanitation and Hygiene infrastructure in 20 GVMC schools in Vishakhapatnam city is implemented through GSS and the benefactors are Plan India, USAID and Coca Cola India Pvt. Ltd. Through this project, around 6,000 girls and boys from 20 Greater Visakha Municipal Corporation (GVMC) schools are getting access to potable water and safe sanitation. It will enhance the capacity of key stakeholders particularly the school children, teachers, School Management Committees (SMCs), functionaries and communities in performing their responsibilities for ensuring quality WASH in schools. The project interventions contribute to the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) through the Swachh Bharat Swachh Vidyalaya component. It will address school sanitation and importance of segregation waste into degradable and non-degradable wastes.     Bio-Analytical Method Development of Repaglinide Drug Delivery Systems

    A sensitive, specific and rapid high-performance liquid chromatography-ultraviolet spectroscopy method was developed and successfully validated to estimate the repaglinide in rabbit plasma. The solvent extraction method was used for  repaglinide from serum by using ethyl acetate and 0.1N HCl. The mobile phase consists of acetonitrile: phosphate buffer pH 4.0 at 60:40 %v/v with 1% triethylamine at flow rate of 0.8ml/min and at fixed wavelength of 254nm. On ten minutes of run time, repaglinide was retention at 7.4min. The extraction efficiency 95% for repaglinide. The intra-day and inter-day precision was in the terms of %RSD less than 1.76%.     Management of patella fractures with different modalities

    Background: Patella fracture is quite a common injury for all ages of patients, constituting approximately 1% of all skeletal injuries. Patella is the largest sesamoid bone in the body. The aim of study was to assess the functional outcome of patella fractures treated with modified tension band wiring using K wires and cannulated cancellous screws with tension band construct.Methods: This study was a prospective clinical study to be conducted at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Chalameda Anand Rao Institute of Medical Sciences, Karimnagar from October 2016 to November 2018. Total, 20 patients with transverse patellar fractures were studied and divided into 2 groups according to the surgical technique: 10 patients were in the MKTB group and 10 patients in the CSTB group.Results: Total 20 patella fractures were included in this study. The Bostman’s score of ROM, pain, atrophy of quadriceps femoris, and effusion were all higher in the CSTB group than in the MKTB group.Conclusions: We conclude that compared with the MKTB technique, CSTB fixation is an effective surgical procedure for treatment of displaced transverse patellar fractures

    NEW SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC METHODS DEVELOPMENT FOR THE DETERMINATION OF OSELTAMIVIR PHOSPHATE IN CAPSULES BASED ON THE OXIDATION REACTIONS OF THE OLEFENIC DOUBLE BOND

    Simple, sensitive and selective spectrophotometric methods (M1 and M2) for the assay of oseltamivir phosphate (OP) through the olefenic double bond are proposed. Method M1 is based on the reaction of potassium permanganate to the olefenic double bond in OP and estimating the unreacted permanganate with fast green FCF (FGFCF). Method M2 involves the treatment of the olefenic double bond in OP with a Lemieux reagent (mixture of KMnO4 and NaIO4) and estimating the aldehyde formed with 3-methyl-2-benzothiazolinone hydrazone (MBTH). The color produced in M1 and M2 methods has maximum absorption at 620nm and 654nm respectively. Beer’s law obeyed in the concentration range of 4-20μg/ml and 4-12 μg/ml for method M1 and M2 respectively. The precision and accuracy of the methods are checked by the reported UV reference method. No interference was observed from the usually existing additives in pharmaceutical formulations and the applicability of the methods was examined by analyzing NATFLUE capsules containing OP.
