Stresses in an Isotropic Elastic Plate in the Form of Pascal's Limacon under Concentrated Forces

    Get PDF
The problem of a thin elastic plate in the form of Pascal's limacon under concentrated forces at the extremeties of its axis has been solved by using complex variable technique. The solution has been obtained in a closed form. Stress components have been found out. In particular, the solution of an elastic circular plate and that of a plate in the form of a cardioid have been discussed. The variation of stress-intensity factor has been studied

Sources, Dangers and Treatments of Oily Soil Pollutants in Iraq

Oil pollution presents significant risks to living organism and human health because it can alter the ecosystem in rivers, seas, oceans, and pollutes air and soil. Oil, for example, can even reduce the efficiency of drinking water plants. Iraq suffers a lot from oil pollution as a result of wars that not only damage the oil infrastructures but also cause loss of thousand hectare of agriculture lands. In addition, oil pollution become primary factor that contribute to the electricity, fuel shortage and traffic jam problems. Oil pollution can be easily found in many parts of Iraq, even in main streets, houses and gardens due to the residents mismanagement and misuse of oily products. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to focus in detail about the sources and dangers of oil pollution on the environment and soil, as well as to provide some suggestions and measurements that can help in limiting the impact of oil pollution in Iraq

Doping, Vacancy formation and Substitutional Effects on Semiconductor Selectivity of Rutile TiO2 Crystal

We have investigated the energy band structure and electronic transitional spectra of rutile and oxygen point defect/substitution of X-rutile (X= B, C and N atoms) by using the Hartree-Fock and density functional theories calculations based on STO-3G basis set. Our calculated results showed that the oxygen vacancy enhanced the photocatalytic activity at the visible light range, due to mid gap induced states. In substitutional X to O doped rutile, the transition of excited electrons may induce a red shift of optical absorption edge, that may result due to donor state produced by doping atoms. Our results also indicated that the theoretical investigation can provide important information and good prediction of semiconductor properties. Pooling methods are used to select most significant features to be aggregated to small region. In this paper, anew pooling method is proposed based on probability function. Depending on the fact that, most information is concentrated from mean of the signal to its maximum values, upper half of Gaussian function is used to determine weights of the basic signal statistics, which is used to determine the transform of the original signal into more concise formula, which can represent signal features, this method named half gaussian transform (HGT). Based on strategy of transform computation, Three methods are proposed, the first method (HGT1) is used basic statistics after normalized it as weights to be multiplied by original signal, second method (HGT2) is used determined statistics as features of the original signal and multiply it with constant weights based on half Gaussian, while the third method (HGT3) is worked in similar to (HGT1) except, it depend on entire signal. The proposed methods are applied on three databases, which are (MNIST, CIFAR10 and MIT-BIH ECG) database. The experimental results show that, our methods are achieved good improvement, which is outperformed standard pooling methods such as max pooling and average pooling
