Psychological background underlying the quality of Croatian studentsā€™ roommate relationship

This study was created as a framework for the website idealni-cimer.hr, an internet interface that uses psychology-grounded instruments to help students find their suitable roommate within half an hour, making the roommate search quick and effective. The results of American research could potentially lead us to wrong conclusions when searching for an ideal roommate of a Croatian student, since findings seem to be culturally specific. A pilot study and the analyses of focus groups done on 120 Croatian students, suggested that personality is not the only predictor of satisfaction with the roommate relationship. Attitudes towards neatness and the life habits while in a shared apartment also proved to be important. Based on these findings, we designed and assembled a questionnaire and examined its diagnostic validity on a sample of 80 students who were living with a roommate at the time of the study. Analysis that included data of over 300 users of the idealni-cimer.hr interface suggested that the key determinants of roommate relationship satisfaction are attitudes towards neatness, several personality dimensions (conscientiousness, self-discipline, cooperation, extroversion, and neuroticism) and specific life habits (behavior concerning common living space, behavior concerning relationship to roommate, and bringing over guests in the common living space)

Intentional behavior and activities of entrepreneurs, both crucial for the initiation and further successful business enterprise, are difficult to explain without the psychology of entrepreneurship. The purpose of this study was to test a model of students' entrepreneurial intentions determinants. Data were collected on a sample of 301 students of economy and non-economy studies from all over the Croatia. Statistical analysis was made using hierarchical regression analyzes conducted in three steps, first on the entire sample, and then on each group separately. In the first step, we introduced antecedents' of entrepreneurial self-efficacy as predictors. In a second step, we introduced the entrepreneurial self-efficacy, and in the third step the desirability of entrepreneurship. While all predictor variables have positive univariate correlation with entrepreneurial intentions, on the entire sample the variables of social support for entrepreneurship were not showed as statistically significant predictor of criteria. Also, the model in both samples explained approximately equally large percentage of the criteriaā€™s variance, but found some differences in terms of the modelā€™s structure in regards to the orientation of students

European Union (EU) has defi ned the process and norms of nursing education. The aim of this project is to describe the nursing education in Croatia and compare it with education of nurses in the United Kingdom (UK) as a cradle of modern nursing, and in Slovenia as a transition country. As a source of data we used Directive 2005/36/EC and Directive 2013/55/EU, and also laws, regulations and documents from the mentioned countries which are related to nursing education. Nursing education in Croatia is carried out through high school education and also at the university level. Slovenian education of medical nurses starts after twelve years of general education and it is carried out at the level of college education. In the UK education is being carried out at the college level after twelve years of general education, and the possibility of acceptance into nursing involves professional qualifications at a similar academic level and courses of higher education. Experience in nursing education in the UK and Slovenia can be useful in the improving of nursing education in Croatia
