Virtual organizations : a case study of the Polish agricultural sector
PURPOSE: The aim of this study is to diagnose the activity of virtual organizations in Polish
agriculture and to determine the importance of trust in their formation and development.DESIGN/APPROACH/METHODOLOGY: An approach based on Gioia methodology was applied. Five
organizations created by farmers to sell their products directly to consumers were deliberately
selected. In each case, the farmers collaborated to build the foundations of a virtual
organization. The study involved the method of a diagnostic survey and an interview
questionnaire as a research instrument.FINDINGS: Modern information and communications technologies allow for the effective
shortening of the distance between organizations potentially interested in cooperation. The
empirical research involving Polish organizations of farmers operating in the virtual space
shows that the crucial element determining their success is building consumer trust through
providing high-quality products and delivering them on time.PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS: It has been found that for buyers of food products quality is the highest
value. Confidence in the quality of products resulting from the previous experience or the
experience of friends was a decisive motive for placing orders.ORIGINALITY/VALUE: Identification of the factors determining the functioning of virtual
organizations in the agribusiness sector in Poland.peer-reviewe
Analyzing the correlation between central bank interest rates and inflation on the example of Poland within the European Union
PURPOSE: The main aim of this study was to determine the relationship between inflation and
interest rates of the Central Bank in Poland with the background of European integration
and the COVID-19 pandemic.DESIGN/METHODOLOGY/APPROACH: The Central Bank of Poland (CBP) was the main source of
data for the analysis (1998-2023). We used different methods which helped to analyze the
changes in inflation and interest rates in Poland, for example Augmented Dickey Fuller test
(ADF test), Autoregressive Moving Average model (ARIMA model) and the regression
analysis using the Classical Method of Least Square.FINDINGS: The study demonstrated that inflation will decrease steadily in Poland due to
relatively high interest rates. The Central Bank of Poland and government agencies should
implement cohesive policies to reduce inflation. The Central Bank of Poland has increased
interest rates to fight inflation, whereas the wide range of social welfare programs
introduced by the government has contributed to higher inflation.PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS: The results will fill in the gap concerning the financial policy of
Central Bank.ORIGINALITY/VALUE: The new information about impact of interest rate on inflation and a
ARiMA model was presented. The results presented in this paper were obtained as part of a
comprehensive study financed by the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, Faculty
of Agriculture and Forestry, Department of Agrotechnology and Agribusiness (Grant. No

ROLA DOPŁAT DO KRÓW I POZOSTAŁEGO BYDŁA W POLSKIM SYSTEMIE DOPŁAT BEZPOŚREDNICH W ROZWOJU SEKTORA MLECZARSKIEGO
Głównymi celami artykułu są: 1) zaprezentowanie informacji dotyczących liczby i struktury wniosków składanych o dopłaty do krów mlecznych i pozostałego bydła w 2015 roku w Polsce; 2) ocena ekonomiczna systemu naliczania dopłat do krów i pozostałego bydła w Polsce; 3) zaproponowanie zmian we wdrożonym systemie dopłat do analizowanych grup zwierząt. Z przeprowadzonej analizy wynika, że w Polsce w 2015 roku złożono 1 351 435 wniosków o dopłaty bezpośrednie, z czego jedynie 12% dotyczyło dopłat do utrzymywanych krów w gospodarstwie.
Inequalities in economic potential and the level of direct payments in dairy farms from selected EU countries
Celem głównym artykułu jest zaprezentowanie stanu i zmian w potencjale ekonomicznym,
uzyskiwanych wynikach ekonomicznych i poziomie otrzymywanych dopłat bezpośrednich w gospodarstwach
ukierunkowanych na produkcję mleka z wybranych krajów UE w latach 2005–2016.
W realizacji wskazanego celu wykorzystano mierniki i wskaźniki ekonomiczne stosowane do oceny
zasobów i efektów ekonomicznych prowadzonej działalności rolniczej. Źródłem materiałów empirycznych,
wykorzystanych w prowadzonej analizie, były dane rachunkowe z gospodarstw rolniczych
gromadzone w ramach europejskiego systemu FADN.
jednak był on w znacznym zakresie finansowany zobowiązaniami. Największy dochód z gospodarstwa
rolniczego w 2016 r. przeciętnie generowały podmioty z Irlandii (60 192 euro) i Niemiec (40 640
euro). Polskie przeciętne gospodarstwa mleczne charakteryzowały się niską dochodowością pracy
własnej. Mimo funkcjonowania Wspólnej Polityki Rolnej w UE sposób naliczania oraz poziom dopłat
bezpośrednich adresowanych do gospodarstw ukierunkowanych na produkcję mleka w poszczególnych
krajach UE był bardzo zróżnicowany. We wszystkich analizowanych krajach dopłaty do działalności
operacyjnej, w przeciętnym gospodarstwie ukierunkowanym na produkcję mleka, stanowiły
znaczący udział w dochodzie z gospodarstwa rolniczegoThe main aim of the article is to present the state and changes in economic potential, achieved
economic results and level of direct payments received by dairy farms in selected EU countries in
the period 2005–2016. Economic indicators that are useful in assessing the resources and economic
effects of agricultural activity were used to achieve the objective. The source of the empirical materials
used in the conducted analysis were accountancy data from farms within the European FADN
system. Additionally, to focus more clearly on the research problem, observations were limited to
farms specializing in milk production, from only six countries with the highest increase in milk
production over 2005–2015.
The results show that the production and economic potential of the average farms focusing on
milk production from countries significant in this activity were characterised by the fact that: 1) it
was highly diverse, and Polish farms in this regard were, on average, the weakest; 2) over the 11
year analysed period (2005–2016), differences between countries were reduced to a limited extent,
3) Danish farms had the highest property value, however it was financed to a large extent by obligations.
The highest income from farms in 2016 was, on average, generated by farms in Ireland (EUR
60,192) and Germany (EUR 40,640). On average farms in Poland focused on milk production were
characterised by the low profitability of their own work. Despite the functioning of the Common
Agricultural Policy in the EU, the method of calculating and the level of direct payments addressed
to farms oriented at milk production in individual EU countries was highly diverse. In all the
analysed countries, the subsidies for the operating activities for the average farm focused on milk
production constituted a significant part of the income for that farm
Profitability of labour factor in the typical dairy farms in the world
The main purpose of the article was to analyse the productivity and profitability of labour factor and to present asset endowments of the typical dairy farms distinguished within IFCN (International Farm Comparison Network). Among analysed 103 typical dairy farms from 34 countries, the highest net dairy farm profit characterised large farms from USA, Australia and New Zealand. Those farms generated also significantly higher profit per working hour then the potential wages that could be earned outside the farm. The highest assets value per 100 kg of produced milk characterised European farms (especially with low production scale)
Influence of selected agricultural policy instruments on the regional variation in changes in milk production in Poland / Wpływ wybranych instrumentów polityki rolnej na regionalne zróżnicowanie zmian w produkcji mleka w Polsce
Subject and purpose of work: The objectives of the elaboration are the following: 1) to analyze the
regional changes (at the level of poviats) in the number of farms involved in milk production over the
period 2002-2010; 2) to present the main factors affecting the ongoing changes in Polish farms oriented
at milk production; 3) to determine the impact of the measure 121. “Modernization of agricultural
holdings” under the RDP 2007-2013 and the applied system of direct subsidies for the development of
farms oriented at milk production. Materials and methods: The work has been prepared on the basis
of the analysis and synthesis of the source literature, statistical data collected and the author’s own
reflections. Results: In Poland, in the years 2002-2010 there was a distinct regional differentiation in
the pace of the ongoing changes in the dairy sector. The regions, where we observe the development of
milk production, include almost the entire Podlaskie Province, the northern part of the Mazowieckie
Province and the south-eastern part of the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Province. Conclusions: Within the
RDP 2007-2013, significant funds were allocated to support the modernization of agricultural farms.
Mainly under the measure 121 “Modernization of agricultural holdings” the investments were carried
out in relation to the purchase of mobile equipment, they represented 89% of all investments. This
was partly due to the actual demand and administrative procedures that stimulated these types of
investments.
Materiały i metody:
Praca została wykonana na podstawie analizy i syntezy literatury przedmiotu, zebranych danych
statystycznych oraz własnych przemyśleń autora. Wyniki: W Polsce występowało w latach 2002-
2010 wyraźne zróżnicowanie regionalne w tempie dokonujących się zmian w sektorze mleczarskim.
Do regionu rozwijającego produkcję mleka można zaliczyć prawie całe województwo podlaskie,
północną część województwa mazowieckiego oraz południowo-wschodnią część województwa
warmińsko-mazurskiego. Wnioski: W ramach PROW 2007-2013 przeznaczono znaczne środki na
dofinansowanie modernizacji gospodarstw rolniczych. Głównie w ramach działania 121. „Modernizacja
gospodarstw rolnych” realizowano inwestycje związane z zakupem sprzętu ruchomego, które stanowiły
89% wszystkich inwestycji.
Regional Changes in Milk Production in Poland – State and Reasons
Do regionu rozwijającego produkcję mleka można zaliczyć prawie całe województwo podlaskie (bez powiatów hajnowskiego i sokólskiego), północną część województwa mazowieckiego (powiaty w kolejności: ostrowski mazowiecki, przasnyski, mławski, żuromiński, makowski, sokołowski, sierpecki, węgrowski, pułtuski) oraz południowo-wschodnią część województwa warmińsko-mazurskiego (powiaty w kolejności: szczycieński, piski, mrągowski, ełcki). Wśród głównych czynników wpływających na tę sytuację były: uwarunkowania historyczne, brak alternatywy dla innych działalności (słaba jakość gleb, względnie duży udział użytków zielonych w strukturze użytków rolnych), pozytywne sygnały płynące z mleczarni i realizowane programy szkoleniowe. Możliwości korzystania z funduszy strukturalnych UE przyspieszyły proces rozwoju gospodarstw towarowych po 2004 roku. Do głównych barier dalszego rozwoju produkcji mleka w regionie zdefiniowanym jako „rozwijający produkcję mleka” zaliczyć można: „brak ziemi” (bardzo mała podaż ziemi, wysokie ceny transakcyjne) oraz zwarta zabudowa wsi utrudniająca budowę obór dla krów.In Poland in the years 2002–2010 was a large regional differences in the pace of the changes in milk production. Regions developing milk production include: almost the
entire Podlasie province (with the exception of Hajnówka and Sokółka district), northern part of the Mazowsze province (districts in order: Ostrów Mazowiecka district, Przasnysz district, Mława district, Żuromin district, Maków Mazowiecki district, Sokołów Podlaski district, Sierpc district, Węgrów district, Pułtusk district) and the south-eastern part of the Warmińsko-Mazurskie province (districts in order: Szczytno district, Pisz district, Mrągowo
district, Ełk district). Some of the major factors contributing to this situation are: historical conditions, lack of alternative activities (poor quality of soil, relatively large share of grassland
in the farmland structure), positive signals from dairies and executed training programmes.
The opportunity to use EU structural funds speeded up development of commercial farms after 2004. Among the main barriers inhibiting further development of milk production in
the area defined as “region developing milk production” are: “lack of land” (very low land supply, high transaction prices) and high-density housing in the countryside, which makes it
difficult to build cowsheds
Economic calculations for agricultural activities as an important source of information - methodology of their making in Poland and Germany
The main aim of the article was to present and evaluate the methodology of preparing the calculation of the profitability of agricultural production. Assessment are given calculations prepared by the Polish agricultural advisory centers and the Bavarian State Research Centre for Agriculture. As evident from the analyzes drawn up by the Polish agricultural advisory centers calculations, according to the methodology used by IAFE system AGROKOSZTY, are not very useful for users (farmers). As the research is necessary to develop a modern and useful tools for farmers
Zmiany wydajności i dochodowości pracy w gospodarstwach mlecznych z wybranych krajów Unii Europejskiej w latach 2005-2015
Celem głównym artykułu jest ocena zmian w wydajności i dochodowości pracy w gospodarstwach mlecznych z wybranych krajów UE, zróżnicowanych wielkością ekonomiczną w latach 2005-2015. Dochodowość pracy własnej w polskich gospodarstwach mlecznych, szczególnie z grupy o wielkości ekonomicznej 100-500 tys. euro, była przeciętnie podobna do dochodowości w gospodarstwach z Niemiec, Holandii i Francji.
