    A Modified Signal Feed-Through Pulsed Flip-Flop for Low Power Applications

    In this paper a modified signal feed-through pulsed flip-flop has been presented for low power applications. Signal feed-through flip-flop uses a pass transistor to feed input data directly to the output. Feed through transistor and feedback signals have been modified for delay, static and dynamic power reduction. HSPICE simulation shows 22% reduction in leakage power and 8% of dynamic power. Delay has been reduced by 14% using TSMC 90nm technology parameters. The proposed pulsed flip-flop has the lowest PDP (Power Delay Product) among other pulsed flip-flops discussed

    A comparative study on visual and optical performance of Akreos AO and Kontur AB IOLs after phacoemulsification cataract surgery

    AbstractPurposeAkreos AO and Kontur AB are two commonly used intraocular lenses (IOLs) in Iran. This study was designed to evaluate the visual performance of these lenses.MethodsIn a comparative interventional study, 35 patients (70 eyes) were recruited, and each IOL was implanted in one eye of the patients, randomly. Best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), contrast sensitivity, aberrometric analysis, and depth of focus were evaluated 1 month and 3 months postoperatively. A visual quality questionnaire was also filled for each eye, and the results were compared.ResultsMean age of the patients was 60.97 ± 7.00 years. BCVA was not significantly different between the two eyes, before, 1 month, and 3 months postoperatively (p > 0.05 for all). Photopic and mesopic contrast sensitivity was not different between the two lenses instead of photopic 18 cycles per degree, 3 months postoperatively and in mesopic 6 cycles per degree 1 month postoperatively (p = 0.034 and p = 0.002, respectively). Aberrometric factors including HoRMS, Total RMS, and Higher order without Z(4,0) were not significantly different between the two lenses (p > 0.05 for all), but they were slightly lower for Akreos AO. Post-operative distance-corrected visual acuity for intermediate and near vision were not different between the two groups (p > 0.05, respectively).ConclusionVisual performance of Akreos AO and Kontur AB is similar. However, contrast sensitivity and aberrometric parameters are slightly better for Akreos AO IOL

    Analyzing the Function of Business Intelligence in Academic Libraries

    Purpose: The research was conducted to investigate the impact of business intelligence on the key activities of academic libraries. Method: This study is applied research with an exploratory nature done with the mixed method. The approach of the research is part-to-whole (induction), developed in two stages. First, the key activities were identified with the documentary research (library) method and validated by the fuzzy Delphi qualitative method in two stages. Then, the impact of business intelligence on the identified activities was investigated with the quantitative survey method. The data collection tool was a structured questionnaire, and the statistical population was selected by purposive sampling. Results: Forty-three key activities were identified in 11 functioning fields: 1) strategic management, 2) planning, 3) human resource management, 4) knowledge management, 5) physical space management, 6) evaluation, 7) extra-organizational communication, 8) group building, 9) partnership and cooperation, 10) management Information and organization, 11) reference and information services. Business intelligence in the field of "planning" has the greatest effect while its effect in the field of "physical space management" is the least. Finally, according to experts' opinions, the impact of business intelligence on the key activities of academic libraries was estimated as "high". The greatest impact was observed in the key activity of "change management" and the least in "agility in adapting to environmental changes". Conclusion: By aligning their key activities with technological developments, especially business intelligence, academic libraries can provide innovative and creative services to keep up with the changing society by using data and analytical methods, and effectively increase efficiency in libraries. It is suggested that increasing awareness at managerial levels about the importance of business intelligence in libraries be among the high-priority programs of senior managers of academic libraries

    The Effectiveness of TranscranialDirect Current Stimulation (TDCS) on Anxiety, Depression, and Physical Symptoms of People with Chronic Pain

    Introduction: Chronic pain and the experience of living with it are unique. Individual perception of pain is affected by physical, psychological, and social variables. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) on anxiety and depression and physical symptoms of patients with chronic pain.Method: This study was a semi-experimental study with pre-test, post-test, and follow-up with the control group. The statistical population of the study included all outpatients of men and women referred to all medical centers in Tehran in 2019 who had received a definitive diagnosis of chronic pain by neurologists, rheumatologists and psychiatrists, and other relevant specialists. The sampling method in this study had two stages: first, through available sampling, selected from several women with a definite diagnosis of chronic pain, and then, based on inclusion criteria and conducting a pre-test session with interviews. A clinical trial conducted by a researcher under the supervision of a psychiatrist based on DSM-5 diagnostic criteria, 30 women (15 for each group) of women who had the highest scores (as baseline) after completion The questionnaires were selected by simple random sampling method and after random allocation, they were replaced in two groups of intervention and control. Data were obtained using the Beck depression questionnaire and the Beck anxiety questionnaire. Repeated variance analysis was used to analyze the data. The above analysis was carried out using SPSS.22 software.Results: The results showed that the effectiveness of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) was effective on anxiety and depression and physical symptoms of people with chronic pain.Conclusion: It can be concluded that transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) is effective in reducing anxiety, depression, and physical symptoms of people with chronic pain and can be used to improve psychological problems in people with chronic pain

    Odontogenic Cysts: A 10-Year Retrospective Study in an Iranian Population

    Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine the frequency of all odontogenic cysts (OCs) along with age range, gender distribution, and the site of involvement over a 10-year period (March 2001 to March 2011) and to compare these data with findings from other surveys.Methods: The archives of departments of oral and maxillofacial pathology from Shahid Beheshti and Tehran University of Medical Sciences were retrieved and analyzed for demographic data such as age, gender, location and histopathological diagnosis of OCs.Results: Of the 8,563 biopsy samples that were received, 1,518 (17.7%) were diagnosed as OCs. Radicular cyst was the most common diagnosis (33.2%), followed by dentigerous cysts (24.1%), and odontogenic keratocysts (18.6%). OC occurred 59.3%, 40.6% in male and female respectively. Mandibular involvement was 62.4% while in maxilla was 37.6%.Conclusion: Our study provided demographic data on a large series in Iran, a Southwest Asian country. In our study, radicular cysts, the most common OC, had a lower frequency compared to that reported in most other studies. On the other hand, calcifying OCs seem to be more prevalent in the Iranian population compared to other populations male to female to female ratio was 1.45:1

    Sharing health data to create value: A systematic review

    Objective: With the introduction of digital crypto currency, the worth of data has been obvious to everybody. Of course, this research is in the sphere of medicine. The goal of this research is to perform a comprehensive evaluation of studies in the area of health information system data sharing and secondary uses of health data, with the goal of generating value in multiple dimensions by sharing these data. Material & Methods: The researchers used the intelligent Web of science and IEEE search engines to conduct a systematic evaluation of English-language keyword searches. Two tactics have been studied in this respect, one using keywords related to "health data value" and the other using terms linked to "health data sharing." Results: Although several studies have suggested solutions for decreasing obstacles to health information system data sharing, they have often simply addressed the problem, according to one criticism of the papers examined. The sharing barrier has no remedy, and its relevance is simply emphasized. Conclusion: It was discovered that not all of the successful components of data sharing, particularly data from health information systems, were addressed in the evaluated studies.                     &nbsp

    A Model for Customer Churn Management of an Internet Service Provider

    Customer churning is one of the most important issues facing Internet Service Providers in a competitive and rapidly saturating market. Due to the high costs associated with attracting new customers, ISPs have turned to a customer retention approach that explicitly seeks to reduce churn. This study has been surveyed the churning of internet service customers in one of the largest telecommunications companies in Iran. In order to predict the churn, customer data has been collected during six months, and their churning behavior has been investigated over a period of one year after. In addition to churn prediction, the most important factors affecting churn have been identified. In the preprocessing step, the "Random Under-Sampling" method is used to balance the data set and the "minimum-Redundancy, Maximum-Relevance" method is used to feature selection. Then, the "Random Forest", "Support Vector Machine" and "K-Nearest Neighbors" algorithms were applied to classify churning and non-churning customers, and the evaluation criteria show the superiority of the random forest algorithm. The final model, which was obtained from a combination of balancing, feature selection and classification methods, called the RUS-mRMR-RF model, is considered as an efficient model in customer churn prediction and identifying the most important factors affecting churn. The results of this study provide valuable insights to the company to develop customer retention strategies
