Eindhoven is a city of the Netherlands. Van Abbemuseum is a newly re ovated museum in 2003. The historical museum building, dating from 1936, is designed by architect Kropholler, and architect Abel Cahen designed the integration into the spectacular new wing. Also the old part of the museum is welcoming to the visitors from the main street, while the small pink aluminium cladded entrance house is an entrance to the new wing

WOS: 000382881100025PubMed ID: 26559415The purpose was to compare the bone samples histomorphometrically regarding trabecular bone properties in the patients with osteoarthritis (OA) and osteoporosis (OP). Femoral head specimens were obtained from 18 patients with OA and 17 patients with femoral neck fracture due to OP during hip arthroplasty. Histomorphometric analyses were performed by soft ware program (Carl Zeiss) to measure trabecular area (Tb.a, mm(3)), trabecular thickness (Tb.th, A mu m) and trabecular separation (Tb.s, A mu m). In the results, Tb.a and Tb.th values were significantly lower (p < 0.05), Tb.s was higher in the patients with OP (p < 0.05). Bone metabolism parameters were different between the groups (p < 0.05). All histomorphometric parameters were highly correlated with the BMDs (p < 0.01). This study showed inverse relation between OA and OP regarding trabecular bone properties, BMD and bone turnover metabolism markers. The strong relations between results suggest that either BMDs or bone turnover markers can be used for prescience of the fractures

In the Turkish Architectural History, Mimar Sinan has the most important place to define the landmarks. The Mosques, the bridges, the kulliyes(with a mosque in the heart of the kulliye as an extensive assembly of religious schools and buildings housing social functions), etc. of Mimar Sinan are coining today along a more than 400years period. The compositon of the full dome and semi domes is very important for the rich space value under. The additional structural elements for controlling the praying sound to God prepare a fully solved situation in the meaning of acoustical control. In the paper, after the definition of the complex in the meaning of history and in the meaning of space compositions, its structural system in the context of building materials and constructional details, the reasons of its acoustical performance and the degree of the efficiency of the daylight use will be explained

Molecular pathology of haemophilia B in Turkish patients: Identification of a large deletion and 33 independent point mutations

PubMed ID: 12588353Heterogeneous mutations in the coagulation factor IX (FIX) gene result in a bleeding tendency known as haemophilia B. The haemophilia B mutation database has a total of 2353 patient entries, including 10 of the estimated 1000 Turkish patients. In this study, a more comprehensive analysis of the molecular pathology of haemophilia B in Turkey revealed one large deletion and 33 point mutations in the FIX gene of 34 unrelated patients. Haplotype analysis using six polymorphic sites showed that the mutations identified in a total of 45 patients occurred on 13 different haplotypes and that each mutation was family specific

Investigation of DNA repair gene variants on myelodysplastic syndromes in a Turkish population

The aim of this study was to assess the possible influence of genetic polymorphisms in hOGG1, XRCC1, XRCC3, XPD, XPG and APE1 on the observed DNA damage in a group of Turkish myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) patients. A total of 39 patients with myelodysplastic syndrome and 78 age-matched healthy control subjects were included in our study. Polymerase chain reaction/restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis was performed for the detection of DNA repair gene variants. No significant differences in DNA repair enzymes APE1, XRCC1 and XPG were found between MDS patients and controls. On the other hand, XRCC3, XPD and hOGG1 were associated with an increased risk of MDS (p = 0.004, p = 0.000, p = 0.017, respectively). Specifically, Thr/Met genotype was more relevant in patients (p = 0.026) in XRCC3; in hOGG1, Cys+ genotype was found higher in patients (p = 0.017); and in XPD, Gln/Gln genotypes were found higher in the patient (p = 0.001). In conclusion, XRCC3, XPD and hOGG1 genotypes are associated with an increased MDS risk, suggesting their possible involvement in the pathogenesis and biology of this disease
