The title of our project is A Comparative Study on Anti-Smoking Law and Policy in Malaysia and Australia. This research paper will explain about adequacy of the law and policies against smokers with reference to the law and policies that govern both countries. In this study, comparison between the two states in regards to implementation of law, the legal and non-legal effect on the issue of smoking will be considered. The purpose of this project paper is to analyze whether there is sufficient enforcement in implementation of the law and policy on the issue of smoking. The other purpose is to analyze whether the campaign and fatwa which banned smoking in Malaysia is sufficient and effective in order to curb the problem of smoking. For this paper project, we have conducted qualitative type of research that consists of library - based and Internet research. This procedure is very helpful and useful as it provides vast and fast resources which are significant to the research

This study assesses the spiritual’s post-covid Asnaf entrepreneur’s toward zakat on business. It indicated the new insight of Asnaf entrepreneur’s spirituality after covid. After participating in the AEP, Asnaf became the zakat payer and directly will be give the positive effect to zakat collection. However, many small businesses, especially business from Asnaf entrepreneurs are financially fragile because of Covid- 19 challenges. To meet the challenges posed by the Covid-19, the Asnaf entrepreneurs had to react in agile and decisive ways by relating the spirituality toward business and able to maintain as the zakat payer soon. This involves conducting an after-action review in spiritual by lessons learned from the pandemic and enhance the business value. Therefore, in this paper, we explore the Spiritual’s Asnaf entrepreneurs toward zakat on business after facing the Covid-19. The analysis was performed to examine the reliability and validity of the measurement, and the structural equation modelling techniques (SEM). Spiritual among Asnaf entrepreneur’s toward zakat on business after Covid-19. Hence, the study provides an insight to zakat institution that the Covid-19 seek out the opportunities emerging in the recovery and stability return by move to digitalization business. Keywords: asnaf, entrepreneur, spiritual quotient, post covi

Knowledge management strategic context in technological trajectories of firm influences their innovation strategy: Looking at Malaysian multinational firm

The paper study on the knowledge management strategic context in technological trajectories of firm influences their innovation strategy. Thus, to make use of technology as a competitive weapon; managers must manage it as a part of the business system. Failure to develop and integrate technology strategy and business is a major contributing factor in the decline of a firm's competitiveness In a turbulent and rapidly changing environment, every organization faces the challenge of how to best manage its knowledge assets to generate value for the market place and obtain competitive advantage Such advantage derives from special capabilities that are rare, valuable, nonsubstitutable, and costly to imitate. Historically, the focus was on capabilities involving tangible assets; now, knowledge is widely recognized as the source for competitive advantage, with the tangible assets representing the physical manifestation of but a fraction of this knowledge As companies scramble to develop strategies for more proactively and strategically managing their knowledge, the field of knowledge management (KM) receives increasing attention from trade organizations and academic journals. From this study it was found that to improve the chances of conclusively demonstrating value to the K-Economy, a new KM implementation in an innovation organization should address issues such as organization's goals and strategies, access tacit knowledge, provide search tools, promote creativity, capture new learning and build a supportive culture, insufficient communication, failure to integrate knowledge, lack of time to learn, lack of training a senses there was little personal benefit in knowledge management

A multiobjective simulated Kalman filter optimization algorithm

    Get PDF
This paper presents a new multiobjective type optimization algorithm known as a Multiobjective Optimization Simulated Kalman Filter (MOSKF). It is a further enhancement of a single-objective Simulated Kalman Filter (SKF) optimization algorithm. A synergy between SKF and Non-dominated Solution (NS) approach is introduced to formulate the multiobjective type algorithm. SKF is a random based optimization algorithm inspired from Kalman Filter theory. A Kalman gain is formulated following the prediction, measurement and estimation steps of the Kalman filter design. The Kalman gain is utilized to introduce a dynamic step size of a search agent in the SKF algorithm. A Non-dominated Solution (NS) approach is utilized in the formulation of the multiobjective strategy. Cost function value and diversity spacing parameters are taken into consideration in the strategy. Every single agent carries those two parameters in which will be used to compare with other solutions from other agents in order to determine its domination. A solution that has a lower cost function value and higher diversity spacing is considered as a solution that dominates other solutions and thus is ranked in a higher ranking. The algorithm is tested with various multiobjective benchmark functions and compared with Non-Dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm 2 (NSGA2) multiobjective algorithm. Result of the analysis on the accuracy tested on the benchmark functions is tabulated in a table form and shows that the proposed algorithm outperforms NSGA2 significantly. The result also is presented in a graphical form to compare the generated Pareto solution based on proposed MOSKF and original NSGA2 with the theoretical Pareto solution

Opposition based Spiral Dynamic Algorithm with an Application to a PID Control of a Flexible Manipulator

This paper presents an improved version of a Spiral Dynamic Algorithm (SDA). The original SDA is a relatively simple optimization algorithm. It uses a spiral strategy to move search agents within the feasible search space. However, SDA suffers from a premature convergence due to an unbalanced diversification and intensification throughout its search operation. Hence, the algorithm unable to acquire an optimal accuracy solution. An Opposition learning is adopted into SDA to improve the searching strategy of the SDA agents. Therefore in the proposed strategy, a random and a deterministic approaches are synergized and complement each other. The algorithm is tested on several benchmark functions in comparison to the original SDA. A statistical nonparametric Wilcoxon sign rank test is conducted to analyze the accuracy achievement of both algorithms. For solving a real world application, the algorithms are applied to optimize a PID controller for a flexible manipulator system. Result of the test on the benchmark functions shows that the Opposition based SDA outperformed the SDA significantly. For solving the PID control design, both algorithms acquire PID parameters and hence can control the flexible manipulator very well. However, the proposed algorithm shows a better control response

The Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) has introduced an engine-powered palm oil harvesting tool called CANTAS that can double the conventional harvesting output. However, there are several issues that are affecting the endurance and comfort of the harvesters. This paper discusses the comparison in the context of ergonomics, performance, and ecconomics of a battery-powered CANTAS called CANTAS Elektro, which could overcome the issues of the engine-powered CANTAS. The prototype was tested in the laboratory and the field to investigate its ergonomic factors. Test results revealed that CANTAS Elektro was more ergonomic than CANTAS as the deflection, configuration, temperature, noise, and vibration levels of the former were 38%, 42%, 59.8%, 12.7%, and 45.8–65.2% less than those of the latter, respectively. The harvesting productivity increased by 26.5% from 5.63 to 7.04 t/day, with an estimated saving of operational cost of RM1013/machine/yr. The take-home pay of workers was increased by 29% from RM81 to RM107/man-day, apart from other fringe benefits. It was proven that the battery-powered machine was more cost-effective than the engine-powered machine, in addition to other advantages such as being carbon emission-free, clean, easy to maintain, less complicated and easy to handle
