Le implicazioni politiche dell'identitĂ  di filosofia e scienza in Ugo Spirito

    Get PDF

An Annotated Review of Scholarship: Measuring the Impact of Community-University Partnerships

    Get PDF
This series of annotations of scholarly products published between 2004 and 2013 seeks to provide readers with resources and scholarship regarding impact assessments for community-university partnerships. Articles reviewed include those that discuss the evaluation of individual partnerships, as well as those providing more general information and guidance. The document helps to illuminate work that is consistent with the Division of Community Engagement’s mission to mobilize effective partnerships and advance the university’s strategic plan, Quest for Distinction. These annotations will provide a resource to community-engaged faculty at VCU and other higher education institutions

This legal writing is entitled The Conversion of Customary Property Rights (Letter C) through PRONA in fulfilling Land Administration Order in Gunungkidul. The problem formulation is how does the implementation of conversion of customary property rights through PRONA on 2012 in Gunungkidul and is it orderly administration of land. The resources such as primary data and secondary data. The primary data was collected from respondents and the speakers. The secondary data consist of primary legal materials derived from legislation and secondary legal materials of a literature study related to the conversion of customary property rights (Letter C) through PRONA to realize land administration order. The analysis method used is qualitative analysis stated orally by the respondents and also studied, analyzed as so solid method. In drawing conclusion, the inductive way of thinking is needed because facts that are specified are drawn from generic conclusions. The customary property rights (Letter C) converted into the property through the PRONA on 2012 in Gunungkidul there are some ways done based on the Government Regulation Number 24 of 1997 on Land Registration and Presidential Decree Number 189 of 1981 on Proyek Operasi Nasional Agraria but there are 13 respondents who earn income above the minimum eligibility standards, 9 respondents acquire land through the grant without the grant deed, and each respondent charged an administration fee. The constraints of conversion are the existence of another distant heir, the Letter C have been damaged and geographical location. It is suggested for the local government not to collect money from villagers and the land offices conduct training about the land registration in order to let the citizen understand about the importance to register their land

Upper Extremity Muscle Activity During Simulated Dryland Swimming While Wearing Wetsuit

Triathletes typically wear a wetsuit during the swim portion of an event, but it is not clear if muscle activity is influenced by wearing a wetsuit. The purpose of this study was to investigate if shoulder muscle activity was influenced by wearing a full sleeved wetsuit vs. no wetsuit during simulated dryland swimming. Subjects (n=10 males; 179.07±13.18cm; 91.20±7.25 kg; 45.6±10.52 years) completed two dry land simulated swimming conditions (VASA Ergometer Trainer): No Wetsuit (NWS) and with Wetsuit (WS). Electromyography (EMG) of four upper extremity muscles was recorded (Noraxon telemetry EMG, sample rate = 1000 Hz) for each condition: Trapezius (TRAP), Triceps (TRI), Anterior Deltoid (AD) and Posterior Deltoid (PD). Each condition lasted 90 seconds with data collected during the last 60 seconds. Resistance setting was self-selected and remained constant for both conditions. Stroke rate was controlled at 60 strokes per minute pace controlled by metronome. Average (AVG) and Root Mean Square (RMS) EMG were calculated over 45 seconds and each were compared between conditions using a paired t-test (α=0.05). PD and AD AVG EMG and RMS EMG were each greater during WS vs. NWS (p\u3c0.05). The wetsuit had no effect on the TRAP nor TRI AVG EMG or RMS EMG (p\u3e0.05). The greater PD and AD muscle activity while wearing a wetsuit might affect swimming performance and /or stroke technique on long distance event

Computer Programs Under the United States Intellectual Property System: Sui Generis Legislation is Needed

    Get PDF
Section I of this article explores the different avenues of intellectual property protection presently available for computer software here in the United States. Section II then discusses how the European Community has resolved the computer program crisis under European intellectual property law. Lastly, section III will illustrate why sui generis legislation would be the paramount way for Congress to attack the intricacy that is created by computer programs under American intellectual property law

Concepciones de los alumnos acerca de la probabilidad

    Get PDF

Analysis of Reactive Injection Compression Molding by Numerical Simulations and Experiments

    Get PDF
Injection compression molding is an injection molding process with the addition of a compression stage after the injection. This process is useful for the injection molding of precision parts. A stable and controlled manufacturing process is needed to guarantee reliability of complex products, and usually process optimization is achieved by experimental and time consuming approaches. However, for being competitive a minimal market time is a very important requirement and computer simulations can help to optimize the process at the only expense of computational time. This paper reports and discusses for the first time the results of a 3D finite element simulation of reactive injection compression molding (RICM) by commercial software for the production of rubber diaphragms. In particular, the stages of mold filling dynamics and material curing are analyzed and the results verified with experimental tests. To get an accurate representation of the process, the rheological behavior, thermal properties, and kinetic behavior during curing of the real rubber compound were described by mathematical models. A differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and a capillary rheometer are employed to characterize the rubber material in order to achieve an appropriate curing reaction and viscosity models, respectively. The computations are found to be in good agreement with the experimental results, indicating that reliable information on material viscosity and curing kinetics can play a key role in making well-founded predictions and avoiding trial and error methods

New anticoagulants for the prevention of venous thromboembolism

    Get PDF
Anticoagulant drugs have an essential role in the prevention and treatment of thromboembolic diseases. Currently available anticoagulants substantially reduce the incidence of thromboembolic events in a number of clinical conditions. However, these agents have limitations that strengthen the case for the development of new anticoagulants. An ideal anticoagulant should be at least as effective as those currently in use, as well as safe, simple to use, and widely applicable
