    Malaysia merupakan sebuah negara yang maju dan telah mencapai pembangunan sosioekonomi pada masa kini. Walau bagaimanapun, Malaysia masih menghadapi beberapa cabaran dalam menguruskan alam sekitar iaitu isu perubahan iklim. Isu perubahan iklim ini adalah isu alam sekitar pada masa kini yang semakin mendapat perhatian oleh masyarakat di seluruh dunia. Terdapat beberapa isu alam sekitar iaitu hujan asid, penipisan lapisan ozon, pemanasan global, dan pencemaran air. Isu alam sekitar ini semakin berleluasa di seluruh dunia dan semakin ramai institusi serta individu cuba untuk menangani masalah ini (Cordano et al., 2010)

    Malaysia health information exchange: a systematic review

    Malaysia Health Information Exchange (MyHiX) is part of Health Transformation System, which is a national agenda to improve the healthcare service using ICT as an enabler. Its main focus is to share patients’ discharge summary or clinical summary among healthcare facilities. This initiative was launched in November 2008. However, nine years after its launch, MyHiX has been successfully implemented only in eight healthcare institutions in Malaysia. Therefore, this paper presents a systematic review of the existing literatures related to Health Information Exchange or MyHiX, with the aim of exploring the empirical gaps and issues associated with its implementation. Six databases were used to locate relevant studies, namely IEEE, Proquest, Emerald, Science Direct, Google Scholar and Scopus. In total, 70 studies met the inclusion criteria. Further thematic analysis of these studies revealed that issues of MyHIX implementation could be categorized into technological, organizational, environmental and human contexts

    Tren dan isu masa kerja fleksibel di Malaysia

    Peningkatan kaum wanita dalam pekerjaan mampu meningkatkan ekonomi keluarga justeru menyumbang kepada peningkatan ekonomi negara. Namun begitu, menurut Laporan Ekonomi 2013/2014, penyertaan tenaga kerja wanita di Malaysia agak rendah jika dibandingkan dengan tahap pembangunan negara. Mengikut tren semasa, ramai wanita tidak dapat meneruskan pekerjaan mereka apabila mereka berkahwin. Mengimbangi kerja dan urusan keluarga adalah faktor utama mereka meninggalkan alam pekerjaan. Persoalan kajian ini adalah untuk mengenal pasti pemacu tren masa kerja secara fleksibel, mengenal pasti samada wanita berminat terhadap masa kerja fleksibel, dan menyiasat adakah terdapat perbezaan dalam keseimbangan kerja dan kehidupan bagi wanita yang bekerja secara tetap dan juga secara fleksibel. Kajian ini mengaplikasikan kaedah metodologi campuran atau mix-method iaitu kaedah kualitatif melalui analisis STEEPV (Social, Technology, Environment, Economy, Politic, Value) dan temu bual mendalam, serta kaedah kuantitatif iaitu melalui soal selidik. Populasi kajian melibatkan golongan wanita bekerja yang dipilih melalui kaedah bertujuan di beberapa syarikat iaitu ABC Berhad., XYZ Berhad, dan juga KLM Consultancy Services di Bangsar dan juga Damansara telah dikenalpasti mengamalkan kaedah kerja fleksibel dan juga tetap dengan jumlah responden seramai 177 orang. Melalui pembacaan dan analisis STEEPV, didapati bahawa sosial merupakan kategori tertinggi dengan keseimbangan kerja dan kehidupan sebagai pemacu tertinggi. Hasil pembacaan ini disokong pula dengan temu bual yang dilakukan terhadap dua orang wakil industri bagi mengetahui tren terkini masa kerja di Malaysia. Melalui borang kaji selidik, didapati bahawa majoriti golongan wanita yang bekerja mahukan masa kerja yang fleksibel. Keseimbangan kerja dan kehidupan telah diukur melalui tiga dimensi iaitu gaya hidup, kesihatan, dan juga keseimbangan kerja dan kehidupan. Dapatan menunjukkan tiada perbezaan dari segi gaya hidup dan juga kesihatan mereka yang bekerja fleksibel dengan mereka yang bekerja tetap. Tetapi terdapat perbezaan dari segi keseimbangan kerja dan kehidupan antara mereka yang bekerja fleksibel dengan mereka yang bekerja tetap. Hasil kajian ini diharap akan membantu penyelidik dan pihak berkepentingan lain untuk mendalami isu dan tren masa kerja fleksibel di Malaysia pada masa hadapan

    A literature review on how tax incentives could assist innovation and SME research ecosystem

    In an effort to foster the innovation and commercialization ecosystem in Malaysia, the government has introduced various tax mechanisms such as the allocation of funds from tax incentives to provide financial assistance to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). As against large corporations which have substantial research and development budgets to start with, limited capital and financial constraints in SMEs companies hinder their capabilities to fund their own R&D which in turn affect their innovation capabilities. This paper reviews various tax mechanisms and initiatives used by other countries to facilitate the SMEs’ innovation capabilities and how universities collaborate the R&D efforts with industries through grants and incentives. The findings are later compared to the research ecosystem in Malaysia, the government, the policy, and the challenges of implementation. It is concluded that SMEs could benefit from the spill over of funds from tax mechanisms to finance their R&D collaboration. This government-university-industry symbiotic triple helix linkage could create a conducive research ecosystem and benefit the SMEs in innovation capabilities and product commercialization

    Problem based learning (PBL) is claimed to be one of the best methods for interactive learning, and more effective than the traditional teaching and learning methods. However, there is still a limited empirical evidence of the effectiveness of PBL across various courses and learning disciplines. The aim of this study was to identify students' perceptions of learning environment and motivation in Effective Communication classes using a PBL approach. Twenty five students participated in this single case study. Students were given four treatments and answered questionnaires in gauging their perception and motivation on the PBL approach to learning. Results indicated that these students who attended PBL classes have a positive perception of learning environment after attending the course. However, there is no significant difference on students' motivation at the beginning and at the end of the course

    Cultural factors affecting persuasive design of smartphone applications to maintain customer loyalty

    Smartphone usage exhibits an asymptotic growth worldwide along with the increasing popularity of various smartphone applications. Against this backdrop, this research analyzes the effect of persuasive design on customer loyalty by perusing behavioral patterns of smartphone application users. Specifically, this study investigates the influence of cross-cultural dimensions towards users’ acceptance and loyalty by integration of persuasive technologies. Past studies reveal that cultural backgrounds affect adoption to computer applications as well as continued use of the applications. A matrix combining persuasive designs with cross-cultural influences is applied pragmatically to a widely used application across all ages and both genders. Economic statuses and educational backgrounds are discounted. This research intends to map the smartphone applications design with persuasive design principles

Lantaran itu, wujud alternatif perkhidmatan bank melalui perbankan elektronik seperti Automated Teller Machines (ATM), phone banking, PC-banking dan perbankan internet sebagai alat pemudah cara. Sistem perbankan turut berkembang seiring dengan arus perubahan teknologi dengan menyediakan perkhidmatan terminal layan diri selain perkhidmatan kaunter bank seperti mesin juruwang automatik, mesin deposit tunai, mesin deposit cek, mesin mengemas kini buku simpanan dan terminal helpline. Sistem perbankan dahulu dan kini jauh berbeza oleh kerana peredaran masa dan teknologi hari ini yang semakin berkembang pesat. Perkhidmatan terminal layan diri kini merupakan perkara penting dalam kehidupan seharian. Perubahan ini membawa kepada satu perubahan gaya hidup yang baharu. Penerimaan atau penolakan sesuatu inovasi bermula apabila pelanggan mengetahui tentang produk tersebut (Rogers & Shoemaker, 1971). Di United Kingdom, Daniel (1999) melaporkan bahawa pelanggan biasanya akan mencari produk kewangan dan bank yang menawarkan nilai yang terbaik kepada wang yang dilaburkan. Oleh itu, para pelanggan mesti diberitahu akan kewujudan dan kelebihan produk baharu berbanding saluran sedia ada melalui aktiviti promosi yang hebat agar ia lebih membantu pihak bank untuk mencapai sasarannya (Suganthi et al., 2001)

    THE APPLICATION OF SMARTWATCH IN MANAGING EMPLOYEE HEALTH MONITORING

    ABSTRACTWorkplace health issues have continued to increase, and this has caused problems such as increasing medical cost and medical leaves. In response to these issues, employers are starting to adopt health technology to overcome the problem such as smartwatch. Smartwatch technology is a wrist-worn device provided with a variety of sensors that are available for collecting physical activity and location data in real time. This paper aims to explore the future drivers of the smartwatch application in monitoring and managing employees’ health. The research study used exploratory research design utilizing the foresight methods. STEEPV analysis was used to identify the key drivers of smartwatch application and to develop a descriptive survey for assessing the impact and uncertainty of each driver. The survey was distributed to human resources managers of medium-sized companies in Malaysia. Technology readiness of smart watch adoption was evaluated using Technology Readiness Index (TRI). Thirty-five respondents took part in online survey. From the data analysis, top two drivers had been identified which are “social interaction” and “data transparency”. These drivers were used for developing future scenario of the smartwatch application in monitoring and managing employee health in the next 5 to 10 years. Four scenarios had been discussed in this paper which are healthy workplace environment, unattainable technology adoption, inefficient technology, and low adoption of smartwatch. This research would provide additional information about the future scenario of smartwatch application in managing employee health monitoring in Malaysia.     The Linkage Between Virtual Team Leadership Towards Team Performance: A Study at Selected Companies

    Since the outbreak of COVID-19, virtual teams have added significant presence in the workplace. Despite being unable to meet each other physically, virtual team members utilize various digital technologies to communicate with each another to carry out activities and achieve organizational goals. However, there are limited studies identifying the linkage between virtual team leadership and team performance despite its prominence. Therefore, this study aims to examine the link between virtual team leadership and team performance among work remote employees working in virtual environment. The survey was distributed to a sample size of 338 remote employees among selected companies that agreed to participate with a response rate of 27.6 percent (105 respondents). The collected data were analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics via IBM Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). It is found that virtual team leadership have positive significant effect on team performance. In particular, virtual leaders who communicate well through virtual platform would affect the team performance. This indicates the need for existing leaders to be equipped with the latest know-how on digital communication

    Dalam ekonomi global yang semakin dinamik, pengetahuan menjadi sumber kepada organisasi untuk terus berkembang (Davenport & Prusak, 2005; Foss & Pedersen, 2002; Spender & Grant, 2006). Hal yang demikian, organisasi memerlukan pekerja yang mempunyai kepakaran dalam bidang tertentu dan sedia menyumbang keupayaan serta berkongsi pengetahuan yang mereka ada kepada pekerja yang kurang berpengalaman atau tidak mempunyai kemahiran (Hinds, Patterson & Pfeffer, 2001). Lantaran itu, pengurusan akan lebih berkesan dan berjalan lancar jika organisasi dapat memberi penekanan dengan menggunakan kelebihan serta sumber yang ada (Damodaran & Olphert, 2000).Pengetahuan didefinisikan sebagai kefahaman, kesedaran, aturan atau kemahiran yang diperoleh daripada pemerhatian, pembelajaran dan pengalaman (Johnson et al., 2005). Dalam pada itu, sumber pengetahuan yang dieksploitasi secara efektif dapat menjana idea yang bernas dan inovatif. Seterusnya, perkongsian pengetahuan adalah proses pemindahan pengetahuan daripada seorang individu kepada individu yang lain dalam sesebuah organisasi (Park & Im, 2003). Ia juga merupakan proses dalam mengumpul perkongsian pengetahuan daripada para pekerja dalam organisasi tersebut. Perkongsian pengetahuan boleh dikaitkan dengan kesediaan atau keperluan pekerja untuk menyumbang pengetahuan atau kemahiran kepada pekerja lain. Menurut kajian lepas, amalan perkongsian pengetahuan yang cekap mempengaruhi inovasi pekerja (Yu, Yanfei & Hailin, 2007)
