Tongues from 119 autopsies were fixed in 20% neutral formalin. The transversely cut segments from the middle parts of the tongues were embedded in paraffin. Histologic sections of 5μm thickness were prepared. Lingual tissue were examined histologically. Specimens were stained by hematoxylin-eosin, elastica van Gieson, and Azan-Mallory stainings. The stenotic index of human lingual arteries (area of lumen / area of intima and lumen of lingual artery × 100) (S.I) was calculated on the elastica van Gieson-stained slides by using an image analyzer system (Pias, LA555N). The results were as follows: 1. The lingual arteries, showed rupture and multilamellation of lamina elastica interna, as well as proliferation of intimal elastic fiber in almost all cases. 2. A decrease in the S.I was indicated in the lingual arteries with the progress of aging. 3. Calcification was observed at the intima and media of lingual arteries in a small number of cases (5 cases). These findings indicated that histological changes due to arteriosclerosis of lingual arteries was intimal thickening and lipid deposion; atherosclerotic changes was not observed

In this study, to design comfortable baby carriers, we determined the burden on the wearer. Sensory evaluation and contact pressure were used to evaluate five types of baby carriers. The test subjects were three healthy adult women who carried a dummy approximate to a six-month-old baby. The subjects evaluated the fit of the baby carrier immediately after putting it on, and then after an activity. They also evaluated the sense of burden on different parts of the body when wearing the carrier. Contact pressure was measured with airpack sensors while the subjects were walking or resting. The results show that the type of baby carrier affected the contact pressure and the fit in the vertical holding position. A correlation, r, of 0.554 was obtained between the fit and the largest contact pressure immediately after the baby carrier was worn. Further, the correlation between the largest contact pressure during the entire activity period and the fit after the activity increased to r=0.669. While wearing the carrier, the fit at the focus area of contact pressure worsened after the activity. These findings show that, when designing baby carriers, stabilizing and distributing contact pressure points will effectively improve the fit. The findings also indicate the usefulness of the largest contact pressure as a means of objectively evaluating baby carriers

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of auditory stimulation from dominant ear/nondominant ear on body sway. The subject were 30 healthy young people. This study was a Cross-Sectional study. The assessment of body sway was taken as the total length of Center of pressure(COP) displacements, Rectangular area, and Environmental area of COP using the stabilometer. Research Condition ①:Conditions that do not give auditory stimulation. Research Condition ②:Conditions of giving an auditory stimulus from the dominant ear side. Research Condition ③:Conditions for giving an auditory stimulus from the non-dominant ear side. As a result, Condition ① and Condition ② showed no significant difference in both groups. Condition ③ decreased significantly than Condition ① . Condition ③ also decreased significantly than condition ② . These results, auditory stimulation input from the non-dominant ear is sent to the cerebral hemisphere on the opposite side by laterality. From this, it is considered that the effect was given the body sway
