[์˜๋ฌธ] The purpose of this research was to study job satisfaction among nurse anesthetists in Korea. By summarizing the contributing factors leading to job satisfaction and by closely examining the relationship of those factors hindering job satisfaction a plan will be proposed for the improvement of the field of nurse anesthetist This study offers the essential materials for the expansion of this branch of nursing at the present time in Korea. The subjects of the research were 283 Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (C.R.N.A.) in Korea in 1987. Of these 118 are actively doing anesthesiology. The data were collected between the period March 22nd and April 8th, 1989. The researcher relied upon the Work Satisfaction Scale for public health professionals developed by Slavitt, et al(1978) as the basis for the questionaires. The analysis of those factors affecting job satisfaction was determined by calculation of percentage, mean and standard deviation, t-test and ANOVA. In determining ANOVA, statistical care was taken to utilize the DUNCAN procedure. The results of the study were as follows: 1. Those questioned 78% responded that theirs motivation was primarily to become a nurse specialist rather than just become a nurse anesthetist. 2. There were who 68% replied that they were encouraged to enter the field by family or acquaintances. In addition to their own interest and natural aptitude for such studies. Of those questioned, 68.6% replied that they washed to work in anesthesiology for a long time, while 23.7% answered they plan to work only temporarily. 2. Of the subjects who felt job satisfaction, the mean score was 3.4846, the opportunity for interaction was the greatest attracting factor, this was followed by job status and prestige, autonomy, role conflict, pays working conditions, and job security. all these are looked on as rewards of the profession. 3. The relationship between Job satisfaction and general characteristics which were found to be statistically significant were: age (F=3.5052, p=0.0333) and work experience (F=4.1479, p=0.0182) and income (F=6.733, p=0.000). The relationship between the factors of job satisfaction and General Characteristics which were found to be statistically significant were: marital status/pay(T=-2.19, p=0.30) religion/working conditions (F=4.2640, p=0.0164), job security(F=3.9587, p=0.2170) organization/autonomy(F=3.5349, p=0.0162), interaction(F=5.1639, p=0.0022) job status and prestige(F=4.4315, p=0.0055) pay(F=3.2883, p=0.0233) working conditions(F=15.0627, p=0.0000) expected time of working for nurse anesthetists/job status and prestige(F=9.8428, p=0.0001) 4. Stress was an important hindering factor in job satisfaction. Suggested ways to help alleviate the stress factor included: more nursing research into the special problems facing the nurse anesthetist, for example, specific groups who need anesthesia such as the elderly and pediatric patients and patients who have hypertension, cardiac problems and diabetes. In addition greater professional effort must be made to expand and promote new technologies, improve working conditions, awareness of legal aspects, and update members of the profession with continuing education. In conclusion, it was found that factors hindering job satisfaction among nurse anesthetists in korea have a negative influence upon the growth and advancement of the profession in general.
