Charged lepton flavor violation and electric dipole moments in the inert Zee model

The inert Zee model is an extension of the Zee model for neutrino masses to allow for a solution to the dark matter problem that involves two vector-like fields, a doublet and a singlet of $SU(2)_L$, and two scalars, also a doublet and a singlet of $SU(2)_L$, all of them being odd under an exact $Z_2$ symmetry. The introduction of the $Z_2$ guarantees one-loop neutrino masses, forbids tree-level Higgs-mediated flavor changing neutral currents and ensures the stability of the dark matter candidate. Due to the natural breaking of lepton numbers in the inert Zee model and encouraged by the ambitious experimental program designed to look for charged lepton flavor violation signals and the electron electric dipole moment, we study the phenomenology of the processes leading to these kind of signals, and establish which are the most promising experimental perspectives on that matter.Comment: 10 pages and 7 figure

Modelo de direccionamiento estratégico en salud para la Zona Franca del Valle de Aburrá

Existe un problema aparente, expresado en que hoy muchas de las Empresas Prestadoras de Salud se enfrentan más que nunca al reto de asimilar fuertes y continuos cambios, no sólo del entorno, sino también sociales, medios tecnológicos, nuevas regularizaciones y legislaciones, recursos de capital, sumado a esto adolecen de un Direccionamiento Estratégico adecuado que les permita vislumbrar a las Zonas Francas como un mecanismo para estimular la inversión, ampliar la cobertura y lograr la internacionalización de los servicios en salud. Para tratar de subsanar esta problemática se requiere pues, tomar decisiones dentro del ámbito empresarial para poder adaptarse a este cambiante y complejo mundo. Este proceso recibe la denominación de dirección estratégica. Aplicando el Modelo de direccionamiento estratégico propuesto en este trabajo aspiramos generar mayor competitividad ofreciendo un excelente servicio con calidad, y optimización de los beneficios que ofrece la normatividad tributaria existente en cuanto a las zonas francas. Todos estos beneficios que obtienen las entidades de salud ubicadas en las zonas francas es posible trasladarlos en parte al usuario final, logrando asi masificar el servicio con las exportaciones de estos y pudiendo obtener ganancias adicionales si se logra empaquetar las servicios de salud con el turismo, no solo para los pacientes sino también para sus acompañantes.There is an apparent problem, expressed in today many companies providing health more than ever facing the challenge of assimilating strong and continuous changes not only the environment but also social, technological resources, new adjustments and legislation, capital resources, in addition to that suffer from a Strategic Management to enable them to envision the Free Zones as a mechanism to encourage investment, expand coverage and achieve the internationalization of health services for their companions. To try to remedy this problem requires it, make decisions within the business to adapt to this hanging and complex world. This process is referred to as strategic direction. Applying the strategic management model proposed in this paper we aim to generate more competitive by providing excellent service quality and optimizing the benefits of existing tax regulations in the zones. All these benefits derived by health agencies located in the zones is possible to move in part to the end user, thus ensuring the service massively export of these and additional profits can be achieved if the health are package with tourism not only for patients but also for their companions

Launch Vehicle Propulsion Life Cycle Cost Lessons Learned

This paper will review lessons learned for space transportation systems from the viewpoint of the NASA, Industry and academia Space Propulsion Synergy Team (SPST). The paper provides the basic idea and history of "lessons learned". Recommendations that are extremely relevant to NASA's future investments in research, program development and operations are"'provided. Lastly, a novel and useful approach to documenting lessons learned is recommended, so as to most effectively guide future NASA investments. Applying lessons learned can significantly improve access to space for cargo or people by focusing limited funds on the right areas and needs for improvement. Many NASA human space flight initiatives have faltered, been re-directed or been outright canceled since the birth of the Space Shuttle program. The reasons given at the time have been seemingly unique. It will be shown that there are common threads as lessons learned in many a past initiative

Multifactorial Heath-Jarrow-Morton model using principal component analysis

In this study, we propose an implementation of the multifactor Heath-Jarrow-Morton (HJM) interest rate model using an approach that integrates principal component analysis (PCA) and Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) techniques. By integrating PCA and MCS with the multifactor HJM model, we successfully capture the principal factors driving the evolution of short-term interest rates in the US market. Additionally, we provide a framework for deriving spot interest rates through parameter calibration and forward rate estimation. For this, we use daily data from the US yield curve from June 2017 to December 2019. The integration of PCA, MCS with multifactor HJM model in this study represents a robust and precise approach to characterizing interest rate dynamics and compared to previous approaches, this method provided greater accuracy and improved understanding of the factors influencing US Treasury Yield interest rates

Shuttle Shortfalls and Lessons Learned for the Sustainment of Human Space Exploration

Much debate and national soul searching has taken place over the value of the Space Shuttle which first flew in 1981 and which is currently scheduled to be retired in 2010. Originally developed post-Saturn Apollo to emphasize affordability and safety, the reusable Space Shuttle instead came to be perceived as economically unsustainable and lacking the technology maturity to assure safe, routine access to low earth orbit (LEO). After the loss of two crews, aboard Challenger and Columbia, followed by the decision to retire the system in 2010, it is critical that this three decades worth of human space flight experience be well understood. Understanding of the past is imperative to further those goals for which the Space Shuttle was a stepping-stone in the advancement of knowledge. There was significant reduction in life cycle costs between the Saturn Apollo and the Space Shuttle. However, the advancement in life cycle cost reduction from Saturn Apollo to the Space Shuttle fell far short of its goal. This paper will explore the reasons for this shortfall. Shortfalls and lessons learned can be categorized as related to design factors, at the architecture, element and sub-system levels, as well as to programmatic factors, in terms of goals, requirements, management and organization. Additionally, no review of the Space Shuttle program and attempt to take away key lessons would be complete without a strategic review. That is, how do national space goals drive future space transportation development strategies? The lessons of the Space Shuttle are invaluable in all respects - technical, as in design, program-wise, as in organizational approach and goal setting, and strategically, within the context of the generational march toward an expanded human presence in space. Beyond lessons though (and the innumerable papers, anecdotes and opinions published on this topic) this paper traces tangible, achievable steps, derived from the Space Shuttle program experience, that must be a part of any 2l century initiatives furthering a growing human presence beyond earth

Improved sensitivity at synchrotrons using edge illumination X-ray phase-contrast imaging

The application of the X-ray phase-contrast ‘edge illumination’ principle to the highly coherent beams available at synchrotron radiation facilities is presented here. We show that, in this configuration, the technique allows achieving unprecedented angular sensitivity, of the order of few nanoradians. The results are obtained at beamlines of two different synchrotron radiation facilities, using various experimental conditions. In particular, different detectors and X-ray energies (12 keV and 85 keV) were employed, proving the flexibility of the method and the broad range of conditions over which it can be applied. Furthermore, the quantitative separation of absorption and refraction information, and the application of the edge illumination principle in combination with computed tomography, are also demonstrated. Thanks to its extremely high phase sensitivity and its flexible applicability, this technique will both improve the image quality achievable with X-ray phase contrast imaging and allow tackling areas of application which remain unexplored until now
