Analyzing Systemic Risk with Financial Networks An Application During a Financial Crash
A financial network model, where the coded identity of the counterparties of every trade is known, is applied to both stable and crisis periods in a large and liquid overnight repo market in an emerging market economy. We have analyzed the financial crisis by using various network investigation tools such as links, interconnectivity, and reciprocity. In addition, we proposed a centrality measure to monitor and detect the ‘systemically important financial institution’ in the financial system. We have shown that our measure gives strong signals much before the crisis.systemic risk, financial regulation, financial crisis, BASEL III, systemically important financial institution, Turkey, IMF
Payback period analysis of using green energy: within the scope of smart urban regenration and selection of green vehicles in Turkey
JEL Classification: M21 and O33In today’s world, number of people who live in cities allocate almost 50% of the
world population and it is expected to be reached 80% in the following years.
Therefore, smart urban regeneration pursuant to use of green energy and green mobility
gain critical role for sustainable environment.
The study documented in this paper has been carried out in order to change
people’s perception on expensiveness and immaturity of using green energy and green
vehicles by giving quantitative results for Turkey case. Importance and benefits of using
green energy and green vehicles within the scope of urban regeneration will be
highlighted.
Consumption comparison between current and energy efficiently retrofitted
house is analyzed with the help of software such as Hourly Analyze Program by Carrier.
In addition, electric generation via photovoltaics is observed with PV*Sol.
Greening the vehicles offer wide range of benefits including reduction of fuel
consumption that plays very important role on both household economy and
environment. In order to highlight economic benefits, diesel-gasoline vs. hybridelectrical
vehicle comparison is made.
After benefits are shown and consumption analysis are done, initial aim has been
achieved through the payback period analysis of retrofitting the building that designed
as elementary family house and greening the personal vehicles regarding to initial
Sol.

Book review: New sporting femininities: embodied politics in postfeminist times edited by Kim Toffoletti, Holly Thorpe and Jessica Francombe-Webb
In New Sporting Femininities: Embodied Politics in Postfeminist Times, Kim Toffoletti, Holly Thorpe and Jessica Francombe-Webb bring together contributors to explore how sporting femininities have been shaped by a postfeminist context, tracking changing gendered power relations in sport and physical cultures alongside new forms of inequality and sexism. This collection is a refreshing and comprehensive look at postfeminism, sporting femininities and physical activity, writes Meltem Ince-Yenilmez, and contributes towards building a more equal playing field in the world of sports for everyone
Relationship between blood calcium level and post-milking teat canal closure in dairy cows
The teat canal-one of the primary defense mechanisms of the udder-ensures the milk flow during milking in bovines and prevents pathogens from entering the udder by forming a barrier through the elastic muscle and keratin layers tightly closing the surrounding area. The current study investigated the effects of blood calcium status on teat closure in cows after milking. The study covered 200 healthy teats, of which 100 were from normocalcemic (NC) cows and 100 were from subclinical hypocalcemic (SCH) cows. Teat canal length (TCL) and width (TCW) were measured with ultrasonography at 0-min pre-milking and 15- and 30-min post-milking. Cylindrically shaped teat canal volume (TCV) was calculated by deriving from TCL and TCW. Time-dependent changes in teat canal closure and their relationships with blood calcium levels were analyzed. The results showed that the calcium level did not affect TCL, TCW, and TCV (P > 0.05) during the 15-min post-milking period. However, TCL (P < 0.001), TCW (P < 0.05), and TCV (P < 0.001) were lower in NC cows than in SCH cows at 30-min post-milking. At 15-min post-milking, no correlation existed between the teat canal closure (Delta TCL, Delta TCW, and Delta TCV) and the blood calcium level, while significant correlations were available between the teat canal closure and the blood calcium level {Delta TCL (r: - 0.288, P < 0.001), Delta TCW (r: - 0.260, P < 0.001), Delta TCV (r: - 0.150, P < 0.05)} at 30-min post-milking. The current study concluded that the blood calcium status significantly impacts the teat canal closure in bovines, and calcium status should be meticulously monitored with the mastitis control program to apply necessary strategic steps
FIGHTING WITH THE GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE AMID THE PANDEMIC
The COVID-19 pandemic has been the highlight of the year 2020, creating ripples of strife and tribulation across sectors and society. It is not just a global health challenge. However, it has since caused nations to go into recession, thereby disrupting lives across the globe. Although everyone, big and small, feels the adverse impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, women are the most affected. Everywhere, cases of domestic violence are radically increasing. The present paper aims to explore a vast range of literature concerning historical pandemics to observe methodologies for combating those pandemics while uncovering patterns of impacts created by the pandemics, especially in increasing diverse violent incidents. The articles used for the present study were carefully analysed, and five principal pathways subsequently developed for connecting violence against women and pandemics directly and indirectly. Through evidence collected from the study, recommendations were created to help civil society organizations, community-based agencies, international donor facilities, and governments. This will provide appropriate measures and interventions, especially for women and children, to combat gender-based violence adequately alongside preparing for possible future pandemics adequately
New Perspectives in Prenatal Diagnosis of Sickle Cell Anemia
Hemoglobin disorders such as thalassemias and sickle cell anemias can be avoided by detecting carriers, ensuring genetic counseling and prenatal diagnosis. Nowadays Chorionic villus sampling (CVS amniocentesis, and cordocentesis are still the most widely used invasive sampling methods for prenatal diagnosis of the fetus. These traditional methods are associated with a risk of fetal loss. The revelation of cell-free fetal DNA (cffDNA) in maternal plasma and serum provides the opportunity of noninvasive prenatal diagnosis (NIPD). Different encouraging clinical applications have arose such as noninvasive identification of fetal sexing, fetal Rhesus D, and the determination of the paternal alleles in maternal plasma. The determination of the presence or absence of paternally inherited alleles in maternal plasma of sickle cell disease (SCD) and β-thalassemia would allow the diagnosis of autosomal dominant diseases or the exclusion of autosomal recessive diseases of the fetuses, respectively. prenatal diagnosis of genetic diseases. Analysis of cffDNA in maternal plasma for NIPD has the advantage of being safer versus the invasive methods. Different technologies were used since the discovery of cffDNA for NIPD—especially high-resolution melting (HRM) analysis is one of those methods. Genotyping can be done with HRM without using labeled probes and more complex regions can be analyzed with unlabeled hybridization probes. High-resolution melting is a rapid and useful method to detect paternal alleles for the NIPD of SCD and thalassemias when the fetus has a risk for double heterozygote
