Computer Models and Predictions in Baseball

    Get PDF
Computer modeling and projections are becoming a part of every industry, and it is no different in professional sports, especially baseball. Teams are relying on these systems now more than ever and are involved in an arms race of trying to acquire the best technology to win more games. The road to get here hasn’t been easy. This report goes over a brief history of computer modeling\u27s development in professional sports, before going over the technical aspects of how these models work, looking and them from a Computer Science background. Analysis of different types of projection models that include Statcast and PITCHf/x. These models extend to other aspects of computing such as A.I. and machine learning. Will also look at the current development of computer projections and how it could change the future of baseball

    Viking orbiter stereo imaging catalog

    Get PDF
The extremely long missions of the two Viking Orbiter spacecraft produced a wealth of photos of surface features. Many of which can be used to form stereo images allowing the earth-bound student of Mars to examine the subject in 3-D. This catalog is a technical guide to the use of stereo coverage within the complex Viking imaging data set. Since that data set is still growing (January, 1980, about 3 1/2 years after the mission began), a second edition of this catalog is planned with completion expected about November, 1980
