Guardians of the Metaverse: Expert Assessment of Emerging Privacy Challenges and Mitigation Strategies

The metaverse describes persistent and interconnected 3D multi-user environments that are characterized by the fusion of physical and virtual worlds. Fueled by the rebranding of Meta, the metaverse is experiencing a resurgence and has attracted the attention of practitioners and scholars, resulting in a new wave of publications. While cutting-edge technologies offer unprecedented immersive experiences, users face new privacy situations as metaverse technologies require extensive data collection. Additionally, the spatial nature of the metaverse allows for the observation of digital footprints. This changing context of data disclosure necessitates a re-evaluation of privacy. Building on the Multidimensional Development Theory as an overarching framework, I conducted 35 expert interviews, resulting in 16 emerging privacy challenges and corresponding privacy protection measures. With these findings, this paper contributes to research on today’s metaverse by empirically investigating privacy as a crucial aspect and providing practical recommendations for organizations to mitigate negative user reactions

In the Chronicle of Thietmar of Merseburg, the experiences and problems of the tenth and early eleventh centuries come together they are taken up by Thietmar and formed into an epoch. This overall interpretation of the chronicle by the Bishop of Merseburg sees historical knowledge as a consistent product of a dynamic process, as an interplay of cultural and cognitive factors in a particular historical situation. On the basis of this dynamic concept of knowledge, it is possible to present a new interpretation of central episodes of Ottonian historiography and at the same time to demonstrate the future potential of images from the past

Kommunales Flächenmanagement und Flächenmonitoring: Umfrageergebnisse und Schlussfolgerungen

Für die Städte und Gemeinden ist die Flächennutzung eine wichtige Aufgabe der kommunalen Planungshoheit und Daseinsversorge. Der Verband Deutscher Städtestatistiker (VDSt) hat deshalb das Thema Flächenmanagement und Flächenmonitoring zu einem Schwerpunkt in Heft 2/2018 seiner Fachzeitschrift Stadtforschung und Statistik gemacht. Um mehr über die örtlichen Gegebenheiten beim Flächenmanagement und Flächenmonitoring zu erfahren, haben der VDSt und die KOSIS-Gemeinschaft Kommunale Raumbezüge und Raumanalyse (KORIS) von Oktober 2017 bis April 2018 eine Online-Städteumfrage durchgeführt. Etwa 60 Städte haben sich beteiligt. Dieser Beitrag konzentriert sich auf die 49 Städte, die ein Flächenmanagement oder Flächenmonitoring (umfassend oder in Teilbereichen) betreiben oder es aufbauen. Berichtet wird über Anwendungsschwerpunkte und Aufgaben des Flächenmanagements, über Organisation und Zuständigkeiten sowie über die konzeptionelle und stadtpolitische Fundierung und Verankerung. Beim Flächeninformations- und Monitoringsystem wird darüber hinaus auf die genutzten Datengrundlagen, die eingesetzten Instrumente und Basistechnologien sowie die Standardberichterstattung und deren Adressaten eingegangen

La ecocardiografía transesofágica intraoperatoria es un monitor mínimamente invasivo. En la actualidad esla técnica de imágenes más importante disponible para el anestesiólogo para la monitorización hemodinámicaintraoperatoria, tanto para pacientes sometidos a cirugía cardíaca como no cardíaca. El objetivo de la presenterevisión es describir las principales visiones anatómicas y revisar las mediciones hemodinámicas que sepueden realizar con la ecocardiografía transesofágica intraoperatoria. Se discuten además sus indicacionesy utilidad clínica para así demostrar la factibilidad de la técnica durante el periodo intraoperatorio.
