On homomorphism spaces of metrizable groups
For two not necessarily commutative topological groups G and T, let H(G,T)
denote the space of all continuous homomorphisms from G to T with the
compact-open topology. We prove that if G is metrizable and T is compact then
H(G,T) is a k-space. As a consequence we obtain that if G_1 is a dense subgroup
of G then H(G_1,T) is homeomorphic to H(G,T), and if G is separable h-complete,
then the natural map G --> C(H(G,T),T) is open onto its image.Comment: v3 (revision of March 17, 2003): slight changes in general, the proof

Tax evasion and tax avoidance in the towns of the Kingdom of Naples (XV-XVIII centuries)
The phenomenon of tax fraud was rooted in the tax system of the old regime. The main
reasons were: the magnitude of the number of the privileged, the negotiatory nature of fiscal
relations between the Sovereign and his subjects, the decentralised management of taxation
where a leading role was played in this by the intermediary bodies throughout the territory.
Another factor was the autonomy enjoyed at local level, which was also a source of particularism,
heterogeneity and excessive power on the part of the urban élite (Fortea Pérez). Many
of these characteristics, relating specifically to sixteenth and seventeenth-century Castile, were
also common to other areas of Europe as a result of jurisdictional fragmentation (Epstein,
Dincecco). In order to describe the peculiar physiognomy of the Kingdom in the field of tax
evasion, I shall try to answer questions on whether and how this phenomenon followed the
ASPECTS REGARDING THE APPROACH OF THE PROBLEMS OF THE EMPLOYEES AND OF THE PROBLEM-EMPLOYEES
The procustian approach of the job's design is widely spread in actual society too. Several researches in European countries regarding working conditions, employees' satisfaction and work stress marked the fact that there are many stressful jobs. The most serious consequence of work - stress is the lack of balance between private and professional life. Western organizations offer various support instruments to their employees in order to improve the balance between work and private life. There are employees who have difficult demeanour due to stress and exhaustment. The approach of problem-employees demands great skill and ability.bed of Procust, working conditions, balance between work and life, support company politics, problem-employees
Canonical quantization and black hole perturbations
We examine the possibility of a constraint-free quantization of linearized
gravity, based on the Teukolsky equation for black hole perturbations. We
exhibit a simple quadratic (but complex) Lagrangian for the Teukolsky equation,
leading to the interpretation that the elementary excitations (gravitons bound
to the Kerr black hole) are unstable.Comment: Contribution to the XIXth Max Born Symposium, Wroclaw. 10 pages,

CONSIDERATIONS ON THE MEASURES TO COUNTER THE RISK OF BANKRUPTCY FOR SMES DURING THE FINANCIAL CRISIS
The financial crisis in Romania has expressed in an eloquent manner and meant large negative effects, such as external factors generated by trigger of the financial crisis in Romania in October 2008 and internal factors for society that fundamentally influenced the decreasing of funding in 2009. Promotion of private initiative is, in our opinion, one of the methods that attenuate the financial effort of state for social segment which generates costs and, is producing revenue for the state. In this paper we promote the idea of opening a fundamental process of restructuring the SME’s management mentality, that of safeguarding of the enterprises with existing instruments, but also with new proposals to the Government, for regeneration as soon as possible of the country's economic and human factors capable of working.bankruptcy, SME, Reorganization, companies, crisis, fusion.
Non-Abelian Vortices with a Twist
Non-Abelian flux-tube (string) solutions carrying global currents are found
in the bosonic sector of 4-dimensional N=2 super-symmetric gauge theories. The
specific model considered here posseses U(2)local x SU(2)global symmetry, with
two scalar doublets in the fundamental representation of SU(2). We construct
string solutions that are stationary and translationally symmetric along the x3
direction, and they are characterized by a matrix phase between the two
doublets, referred to as "twist". Consequently, twisted strings have nonzero
(global) charge, momentum, and in some cases even angular momentum per unit
length. The planar cross section of a twisted string corresponds to a
rotationally symmetric, charged non-Abelian vortex, satisfying 1st order
Bogomolny-type equations and 2nd order Gauss-constraints. Interestingly,
depending on the nature of the matrix phase, some of these solutions even break
rotational symmetry in R3. Although twisted vortices have higher energy than
the untwisted ones, they are expected to be linearly stable since one can
maintain their charge (or twist) fixed with respect to small perturbations.Comment: 18 pages, 5 figure
Heavy quarks or compactified extra dimensions in the core of hybrid stars
Neutron stars with extremely high central energy density are natural
laboratories to investigate the appearance and the properties of compactified
extra dimensions with small compactification radius, if they exist. Using the
same formalism, these exotic hybrid stars can be described as neutron stars
with quark core, where the high energy density allows the presence of heavy
quarks (c, b, t). We compare the two scenarios for hybrid stars and display
their characteristic features.Comment: Talk given at 4th International Workshop on New Worlds in
