    Get PDF
The increasing number of educational services has caused a high competition in this industry. In Indonesia, the number of private universities is the highest compared to state universities and other forms of higher education institutions. Ability to predict factors that are important in providing educational services to achieve student satisfaction and make them loyal to the university is highly necessary. In this study, we investigated the main factors of service quality that affect student satisfaction and loyalty by collecting data from 319 students from London School of Public Relation in Jakarta. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was employed to analyze the data through AMOS 24 statistical package. The findings indicated that the main factors influencing student satisfaction in private university are tangible and reliability consisting of: 1) comfortable lecture rooms, 2) adequate library facilities, 3) neat staff appearance, 4) non-discriminatory treatments provided by staff and lecturers, 5) high ability and knowledge provided by staffs and lecturers, and 6) appropriate academic services provided by the university. Student satisfaction with these factors would indirectly lead to loyalty to the university. Finally, service quality measurement through SERVQUAL was redundant as a model to measure the effect of service quality in educational service

This study investigated app-based transportation customers’ perception of quality, and its effect on satisfaction, attitudinal, and behavioral intention in the means-end theory perspective. A causal design survey was applied out of 90 customers from South Tangerang City, Province of Banten, Indonesia and the data were analyzed byusing Partial Least Square (PLS). The research finding indicated that the relationships between perceived quality, satisfaction, attitudinal and behavioral intention were confirmed. There was a positive significant relationship of environmental quality and customer satisfaction (β = 1.131; sig. = 0.000; CR > 2.0). Ambient condition contributed a higher influence on environmental quality than another indicator. Ambient conditionwas defined as a nonvisual factor affecting consumer perceptions of service quality. Moreover, satisfaction also had a positive relationship of attitudinal and behavioral loyalty (β = 0.807; β = 0.743; sig = 0.000 and CR > 2.0). The indirect influence of service environmental quality on attitudinal and behavioral loyalty was also confirmedthrough an intermediate variable of satisfaction (β = 0.912; β = 0.840; sig = 0.000 and CR > 2.0). The finding is worthwhile not only for companies, but also for the welfare of drivers who mostly come from low income groups. For the company, positive attitudinal and behavioral loyalty will increase market profitability and market share in the long run. As for drivers, this condition will provide job security and welfare guarantee. Keywords: App-based transportation, Environmental quality, Satisfaction, Attitudinal loyalty, Behavioral loyalt

Exploring Relationship among E-Learning Platforms, Technical System Quality and Perceived Students’ Satisfaction on Higher Educations’ System for E-Learning

    Get PDF
Currently, most Indonesian universities have adopted an online academic management information system (AMIS) to provide academic and administrative service activities. This study aims to explore the relationship between the e-learning platforms and the technical system quality, and the perceived satisfaction of students. Data were collected using questionnaires distributed to 286 students of a university. The questionnaire showed that there is a difference in the e-learning tools, techniques, or platforms used by the students. The results of the chi-square test show that there is no significant relationship between e-learning platform and technical system quality and also perceived satisfaction of the students. That shows the platform choices do not affect students’ perception of quality and satisfaction. However, technical system quality is significantly related to perceived student satisfaction.  Therefore, the e-learning quality should be improved in line with the innovation of a learning system during the pandemic, so that students’ satisfaction in the learning involvement increase

University of Missouri-Columbia 2007.Dissertations, Academic -- University of Missouri--Columbia -- Food science. The degradation of anthocyanins by food additives like SO2 and ascorbic acid limits their use as natural food colorants. The rare 3-deoxyanthocyanins from sorghum are relatively stable compared to other anthocyanins, but have not been investigated. The stability of 3-deoxyanthocyanin standards, red cabbage pigment, grape blue powder and crude sorghum pigment extract against SO2, ascorbic acid bleaching and high temperature treatment (121.1⁰C for 15 min) at pH 2.0, 3.0, 3.2 and 5.0 was measured in the presence (50:1 molar ratio) or absence of pyruvic acid. Samples were incubated at 37⁰C for 5 days to synthesize the pyruvic acid adducts, and their sulfite and ascorbic acid bleaching resistance investigated at 60 ppm and 500 ppm respectively, using a Shimadzu UV-1650PC spectrophotometer for 21 days. HPLC-DAD/MS analysis confirmed the formation of the 3-deoxyanthocyanin-pyruvic acid adducts at approximately 11 - 47% conversion. Samples without pyruvic acid were the controls. Sulfite and ascorbic acid are co-pigments with 3-deoxyanthocyanin pigments in absence of pyruvic acid at pH 2.0 and 5.0, respectively. Pyruvic acid had marginal protective influence on the stability of the pigments against sulfite and ascorbic acid degradation but not heat. Crude black sorghum extract was the most stable to SO2 and ascorbic acid bleaching. High temperature initiated production of new 3-deoxyanthocyanin-pyruvic acid adducts

    Get PDF
Repurchase intention is a very important goal for private universities in the very high competition in the world of education today with fellow private universities and state universities. The students' decision to do repurchase intention is influenced by many factors. The success of private universities in identifying and focusing the university's marketing and development strategies based on those factors will greatly determine the sustainability of the universities’ business. Therefore, this study investigated the private university customers' perception of quality and value for money and its effect on satisfaction and students’ repurchase intention. A causal design survey was applied out of 150 students of private universities in Jakarta, Indonesia. The Partial Least Square (PLS) was employed to analyze the data. The research outcome signified that there was a direct positive effect of perceived value for money on satisfaction, perceived service quality on perceived value for money, and perceived service quality on satisfaction and repurchase intention. The total effect of perceived service quality on repurchase intention was higher through an indirect effect of satisfaction. On the contrary, a direct effect of perceived value for money on repurchase intention was not confirmed

Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata) is a highly nutritious, drought tolerant crop with several agronomic advantages over other legumes. This study demonstrated the association of different cowpea phenotypes with specific phenolic profiles, antioxidants activity, anti-inflammatory properties on non-malignant colonic (CCD18co) cells challenged with a lipopolysaccharide (LPS), and the effect of boiling on their individual and total flavonoid content. Only the black and green phenotypes had detectable anthocyanins; and their levels were highest in the black IT95K-1105-5 variety. The red cowpea phenotypes had the highest level of flavonols (858 - 941 micrograms/g cowpea flour) and white Early Acre variety had the least. Quercetin derivatives were the major flavonols detected, followed by myricetin derivatives. Monomeric, dimeric and polymeric procyanidins also made up a large proportion of cowpea phenolics. The light brown 09FCV-CC27M cowpea variety had the highest average flavan-3-ol content (13,464 micrograms/g cowpea flour); whereas white and green varieties did not contain detectable levels of flavan-3-ols. Thus, seed-coat color was a good indicator of the accumulation of specific flavonoids in cowpeas. The black, red and light-brown cowpeas had the highest antioxidant activity measured by ORAC and ABTS methods, correlating with their higher total phenol content (TPC) and condensed tannin content (CTC); whereas the white and green varieties had the least. Boiling significantly affected the phenolic profiles, TPC and CTC of all cowpea varieties studied, as well as the antioxidant activity associated with these compounds. The net reduction in antioxidant activity after boiling was less than the net TPC reduction, indicating that the heat-induced phenolic products may still have radical scavenging capacity. Overall, proinflammatory genes regulation, intracellular ROS inhibition, and modulation of miR-126 and its target gene VCAM-1 by cowpea were found to be dependent on cowpea variety, phenolic composition and concentrations. The underlying mechanism by which cowpea induced miR-126 may be associated with inhibition of ROS and down-regulation of transcription factor NF-These results emphasize the importance of the cancer inhibitory potential of phenolic compounds from cowpea and their possible role in preventing anti-inflammatory disorders. Further in vivo studies with cowpea diets are required to validate their clinical relevance to human health

Factors Influence Financial Inclusion: Evidence from Indonesian Micro Data

    Get PDF
In order to increase access to formal financial institutions, the Indonesian government has issued various national strategies. However, Indonesia’s inclusive financial index is still under other ASEAN countries. Therefore, in this study, we investigate the factors that influence financial inclusion in Indonesia. The microdata from global findex 2014 was carried out in this study by using binary logistic regression analysis. The finding indicates that there is a significant positive relationship between individual characteristics, including financial inclusion, constraints to financial inclusion, utilization of financial services motivation, and loan sources. Since the main targets of financial inclusion are the poor, this finding becomes an essential proposition for policies in the banking sector, that besides the factors of gender, age, education, and type of jobs, income is the primary factor that influences access and utilization of financial services. Mainly regarding loans, increased income will increase the opportunities of the poor to getting loans because only high-income groups have collateral in applying for loans.JEL Classification: D14, G2

Die vorliegende Studie soll als Diskussionsbeitrag zum Gemeindeaufbau und der Mission der russlanddeutschen Pfingstgemeinden in der Missiologie dienenThe present paper deals with the development and mission of the Pentecostal community of German- Russians in USSR and FRG (Federal Republic of Germany). The main purpose is which missiological practices and principles brought about the development of these communities. The historical investigation starts with the history of the origins of the Pentecostal movement among the German- Russian people in the USSR and FRG. The attention is paid to the methods of the establishment and development of the community, its geographical extension and also the numerical growth. Furthermore the historical research is the basis for the development of the qualitative study about the Pentecostal- communities of the German- Russians in FRG. Therefore leaders of 14 Pentecostal Churches were interviewed and asked about their religious practices, community development and mission. Based on the Grounded theory the collected data were classified in different growth factors and they were interpreted against the background of mission- theological aspects. Finally the results of the historical and empirical research are compared with current missiological concepts so that they open an action-orientated perspective. This study provides a basis for a debate for the community development and missionary of German- Russian Pentecostal Communities. Key TermsChristian Spirituality, Church History and MissiologyD. Th.
