Characterization of the atmospheric depth profile using the ground-level temperature: The case of MalargĂŒe, Argentina

    Get PDF
We present a study of the atmospheric depth profile and the dependence with its characteristic parameters. We introduce a new model, named GAMMA, based on a parameterization that allows us to obtain the atmospheric depth profile specifying only one simple physical parameter, namely the temperature at ground. The GAMMA model consists of a multilayer representation of the atmosphere that can be adjusted conveniently via constrained fits that are built to ensure interlayer continuity for both atmospheric depth and density profiles. Our analysis uses experimental data collected at MalargĂŒe, Argentina by meteorological radiosondes. The GAMMA model can reproduce the averaged atmospheric depth profiles in all the cases available for analysis with good accuracy. The relative differences between model predictions and averaged data are always less than approximately 0.7%.Fil: Moreno, Juan Cruz. Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones CientĂficas y TĂ©cnicas. Increasing Public Perceptions of Stroke

    Get PDF
Analysis of publicly available data for the selected county of Rutland Vermont was performed to understand the underlying health problems affecting the county. Although VT overall has better health status indicators, including better access to care, and lower rates of chronic diseases than the nation, pockets of the state have higher rates of chronic diseases including obesity, DM, and cerebrovascular accidents. Increasing awareness of stroke risk factors and symptoms is a cost-effective method to reduced stroke burden and provide successful treatment.https://scholarworks.uvm.edu/fmclerk/1621/thumbnail.jp

The observable-state model and non-renormalizable theories

    Get PDF
The aim of this work is to apply the observable-state model for the quantum field theory of a \phi^n self- interaction. We show how to obtain finite values for the 2-point and n-point correlation functions without introducing counterterms in the Lagrangian. Also, we show how to obtain the renormalization group equation for the mass and the coupling constant. Finally, we found the dependence of the coupling constant with the energy scale and we discuss the validity of the observable-state model in terms of the projection procedure.Comment: 20 pages. arXiv admin note: substantial text overlap with arXiv:1203.626

Does immigration affect the Phillips curve? Some evidence for Spain

    Get PDF
The Phillips curve has flattened in Spain over 1995?2006: Unemployment has fallen by 15 percentage points, with roughly constant inflation. This change has been much more pronounced than elsewhere. We argue that this stems from the immigration boom in Spain over this period. We show that the New Keynesian Phillips curve is shifted by immigration if natives? and immigrants? labor supply elasticities and bargaining power differ. Estimation of this curve for Spain indicates that the fall in unemployment since 1995 would have led to an annual increase in inflation of 2.5 percentage points if it had not been largely offset by immigration.Publicad

Where do Women Work? : Analysing Patterns in Occupational Segregation by Gender

    Get PDF
Our goal in this paper is twofold. First, to examine the role of education and other socio-economic factors in explaining differences between the EU and the US in occupational segregation by gender. And, secondly, to analyse its relationship with job characteristics, remuneration and promotion opportunities of female employees.Publicad
