Economic modeling of carbon dioxide integrated pipeline network for enhanced oil recovery and geologic sequestration in the Texas Gulf Coast region

    Get PDF
Naturally occurring CO2 is transported via pipelines to oil fields in West Texas to enhance production. A similar pipeline system is proposed for the Gulf Coast region of Texas. The CO2 would come from anthropogenic sources. Using GIS data, oil fields and CO2 sources are selected and a pipeline route is designed, taking into consideration rights of way and environmental sensitivities. We modified several pipeline cost models from the literature to capture recent construction cost escalations. Our resulting cost estimates agree with mid-to-high range cost quotes for pipelines reported to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission by the companies.Bureau of Economic Geolog

The main aim of this study is to compare the information about meiosis and mitosis divisions of secondary school students with different methods. The mixed method was used in the research. In the mixed method, it is aimed to close the deficiencies in the solution of the research problems with both qualitative and quantitative data. Homogeneous samples were used in the study. In the 2018-2019 academic years, it was conducted with 7th grade students in a public school in Eastern Anatolia. A total of 132 students participated in the study, depending on the volunteerism principle. Matching test was used to collect quantitative data. Qualitative data were collected through a fully structured interview form. The collected data were analyzed with the help of Microsoft Excel program. Descriptive and content analyzes and techniques such as frequency and percentage values were used. According to the findings, the knowledge of meiosis and mitotic divisions was found to be good level. It was determined that most of the students had the right information about meiosis and mitosis and they knew the general characteristics of these divisions. According to these findings of the study, concordant results were obtained by using mixed method with different measuring methods. Suggestions are presented in parallel with these findings.  Article visualizations

INVESTIGATION OF BOTANICAL COMPOSITION, FEED VALUE, ORGANIC MATTER DIGESTIBILITY AND NET ENERGY LACTATION OF GRASS SILAGE AT EARLY MATURITY STAGE BY IN VIVO AND IN VITRO METHODS

This study was carried out to determine botanical composition, nutritive value, organic matter digestibility (OMD) and net energy lactation (NEL) of grass ensiled at early (early maturity, first cut) stage of maturity. In vivo and in vitro (gas test) methods were both used. The feed material of the study was taken from the producers in three different regions of (Arisu, Edremit, Kurubas) Van province at the first cutting period (1 June). Approximately 1000 kg of grass was cut from each pasture with a mower. It was kept in plastic bins, closed tightly and turned upside down until the day the silos were opened. In addition, 0.25m2 areas were cut, divided into species when wet, and the rate of participation of species in yield was calculated. Chemical analyses and in vivo and in vitro (gas test) experiments were conducted on the silage which was opended on the 60th day after it had been ensiled. According to the analysis; silages obtained from Edremit, Kurubas and Arisu pastures contained 27.38%, 22.30%, 24.78%, of dry matter 9.51%, 14.76%, 14.27% of crude protein, respectively; in vivo OMD was found 70.70%, 79,17%, 55.85%, and in vitro OMD48 h was found 66.79%, 61.65%, 61.15%, respectively. At the same time, the correlation between in vivo OMD and in vitro OMD48 hour was found R2 0.99. It has been determined that Gramineae family is the dominant plant population in the pastures of Van province. In conclusion, it has been evaluated that grass ensiled at early maturity (first cut) stage increased organic matter digestibility of silages.Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK); Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) [VHAG-1849 (101V140)]This work was supported by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) VHAG-1849 (101V140) foundation Turkey. Using volume of concept in the class environment

    Get PDF
One of the tools that indicate the relationship between concepts is the volume of concept. Volume of concept is displayed that the relations between the concepts of the subject are exhibited in a meaningful harmonious and circular manner in a certain order. The purpose of this research; to be able to determine the usefulness volume of concept, from association tools of concept, in educational process. A mixed method was used in this study. Frequency and percentage values were calculated using comparative samples in the quantitative aspect of the study. In the qualitative aspect of work was used structured interview form, face to face interviews which were identified to code-categories and analyzed the data. As a result of the work, students had difficulty in drawing the volume of concept but they had expressed that the volume of concept was clearer. Moreover, it was determined that the rate of preference volume of concept during the exam was low. It can be said that use of the readymade form of the volume of concept was increases although a small proportion of students prefer concept volume when presented in the same way with another tools. Various suggestions have been made as a result of the researchPeer Reviewe

    Get PDF
The purpose of this research is the determination of the effect of the activities of the planetarium on students' views, three-dimensional thinking skills and academic achievement. Mixed method was used in the research. The embedded pattern is preferred because qualitative data are supported by quantitative data that was used a single group pre-posttest experimental design. Homogeneous sampling was used in the study. A fully structured interview form and a three-dimensional thinking skill form have been prepared for the qualitative data. An academic achievement test has been developed for the quantitative data. Both descriptive and content analyses were done with frequency and Wilcoxon signed test techniques outside of the code-category and theme. Interpretation of the findings; as a result of planetarium activities in general, it has been found that the majority of students use positive expressions. It has been determined that the three dimensions skills of students is low in terms of size, distance and relationship dimensions between the Solar System and the planets. It has been determined that the same students' three dimensional thinking skills for the Earth and its satellite are high in size and distance dimensions but in relations and three dimensions complete are middle. It has been discovered that activities in the planetarium have increased academic achievement at both the seventh and eighth grade. Planetarium activities as a coincidence in the result of the research have an effect on eliminating the misconceptions of the students. Suggestions are made according to the study result.  Article visualizations

    Get PDF
The project deals with an investigation to determine experimentally the axial and bending strains (normal to the plane of the mechanism) in the two connecting rods of the weaving mechanism of a small textile loom. A complete theoretical, kinematic, force and stress analysis has been made on the six-bar chain constituting the mechanism. The peak to peak strain values have been measured at various different crank speeds. The nature of the bending strains in a direction normal to the plane of the mechanism have been further examined by static tests which have been performed on the mechanism. Measured dynamic strain data for the connecting rods is presented and comparison is made between calculated and measured values. Experimental results for axial peak to peak and cyclic strain variation showed good agreement with the calculated value
