Effective-Range Expansion of the Neutron-Deuteron Scattering Studied by a Quark-Model Nonlocal Gaussian Potential

The S-wave effective range parameters of the neutron-deuteron (nd) scattering are derived in the Faddeev formalism, using a nonlocal Gaussian potential based on the quark-model baryon-baryon interaction fss2. The spin-doublet low-energy eigenphase shift is sufficiently attractive to reproduce predictions by the AV18 plus Urbana three-nucleon force, yielding the observed value of the doublet scattering length and the correct differential cross sections below the deuteron breakup threshold. This conclusion is consistent with the previous result for the triton binding energy, which is nearly reproduced by fss2 without reinforcing it with the three-nucleon force.Comment: 21 pages, 6 figures and 6 tables, submitted to Prog. Buchstaber invariants of skeleta of a simplex

A moment-angle complex ZK\mathcal{Z}_K is a compact topological space associated with a finite simplicial complex KK. It is realized as a subspace of a polydisk (D2)m(D^2)^m, where mm is the number of vertices in KK and D2D^2 is the unit disk of the complex numbers \C, and the natural action of a torus (S1)m(S^1)^m on (D2)m(D^2)^m leaves ZK\mathcal{Z}_K invariant. The Buchstaber invariant s(K)s(K) of KK is the maximum integer for which there is a subtorus of rank s(K)s(K) acting on ZK\mathcal{Z}_K freely. The story above goes over the real numbers R\R in place of \C and a real analogue of the Buchstaber invariant, denoted sR(K)s_\R(K), can be defined for KK and s(K)sR(K)s(K)\leqq s_\R(K). In this paper we will make some computations of sR(K)s_\R(K) when KK is a skeleton of a simplex. We take two approaches to find sR(K)s_\R(K) and the latter one turns out to be a problem of integer linear programming and of independent interest

The cohomology ring of the GKM graph of a flag manifold of classical type

If a closed smooth manifold MM with an action of a torus TT satisfies certain conditions, then a labeled graph \mG_M with labeling in H2(BT)H^2(BT) is associated with MM, which encodes a lot of geometrical information on MM. For instance, the "graph cohomology" ring \mHT^*(\mG_M) of \mG_M is defined to be a subring of \bigoplus_{v\in V(\mG_M)}H^*(BT), where V(\mG_M) is the set of vertices of \mG_M, and is known to be often isomorphic to the equivariant cohomology HT(M)H^*_T(M) of MM. In this paper, we determine the ring structure of \mHT^*(\mG_M) with Z\Z (resp. Z[1/2]\Z[1/2]) coefficients when MM is a flag manifold of type A, B or D (resp. C) in an elementary way.Comment: 22 page

Recently, multiliteracy has aroused much academic interest. Due to growing migration, globalisation and an increase in the number of international marriages, in 2017 the number of Hoshukos (or Japanese schools abroad) rose to 203, across 56 countries, all of which are supported by the Ministry of Education of Japan. This study analyses the multilingual literacy practices (when using a mobile phone, computer, or iPad) of 11 children who attend this type of school in Barcelona. We also conducted interviews with their parents in order to discover their attitudes toward language education in general. To deepen the investigation, we also carried out a case study on a 7-year-old boy. From the results we obtained, it was discovered that when using technology these children utilize Catalan, Spanish, English and Japanese, depending on the nature of the activity. With regard to the children's use of technologies interviews, showed that they are heavily regulated by their parents and most parents have a negative opinion about children using technology on a daily basis because they suppose that it would hamper children's writing skills

Sustainable Change: Education for Sustainable Development in the Business School

This paper examines the implementation of education for sustainable development (ESD) within a business school. ESD is of growing importance for business schools, yet its implementation remains a challenge. The paper examines how barriers to ESD's implementation are met through organisational change as a sustainable process. It evaluates change brought about through ESD in a UK-based business school, through the lens of Beer and Eisenstat's three principles of effective strategy implementation and organisational adaptation, which state: 1) the change process should be systemic; 2) the change process should encourage open discussion of barriers to effective strategy implementation and adaptation; and 3) the change process should develop a partnership among all relevant stakeholders. The case incorporates, paradoxically, both elements of a top-down and an emergent strategy that resonates with elements of life-cycle, teleological and dialectic frames for process change. Insights are offered into the role of individuals as agents and actors of institutional change in business schools. In particular, the importance of academic integrity is highlighted for enabling and sustaining integration. Findings also suggest a number of implications for policy-makers who promote ESD, and for faculty and business school managers implementing, adopting and delivering ESD programmes
