Objectives: To assess the nutritional status and morbidity among the school going adolescents in peri urban area Wardha. Materials and Methods: The present study was conducted in the year 2008. 116 children in the age group of 10 to 19 years studying in high school of peri urban area Wardha were examined. Nutritional status of the adolescents was assessed through weight for age (wasting) and height for age (stunting) according to WHO criteria. Data was entered and analyzed by using Epi Info 6.04 software package. Chi- square value was used for testing statistical significance. Results: Mean age of the adolescents was 13.16+ 1.99. 48.3% of the adolescents were found to be normal and 51.7% were underweight. Early adolescents were at highest risk of underweight significantly more 73.3% ( p < 0.05 ) as compared to late adolescents 26.7%. Overall 34.5% of the adolescents were stunted with boys suffering more 72.5% as compared to girls 27.5%. 28.45% of the school going adolescents had anaemia with girls suffering significantly more 38.89% (p < 0.05) as compared to boys 23.75%. 35.34% adolescents had dental caries. 13.79% adolescents were found to be suffering from refractive error. 7.76% adolescents had worm infestation. 6.9% adolescents had skin problems. 2.59% adolescents had tonsillitis and 2.59% had wax in the ear. Conclusion: The study shows the poor health and nutritional status among the adolescents. A periodical and regular health check-up with concerted efforts towards their nutrition along with focused health education will improve the health and nutritional status of these school going adolescents in peri urban area Wardha

Method to Dynamically Optimize MIMO Throughput of Coupled Tunable Antennas

Get PDF
Many wireless communication standards (4G LTE, 5G NR, Wi-Fi, etc.) can leverage multiple antennas within a device through multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication protocols. Antenna tuners are often used to tune the individual antennas for various transmission and reception characteristics. Traditional means of tuning the antennas, however, do not account for coupling between the antennas. Often, MIMO antennas are packaged within proximity of each other due to tight packaging constraints in modern electronic devices. In these types of coupled MIMO systems, maximum throughput is achieved when the coupling between the antennas is accounted for, even though a single antenna may not be optimized. By utilizing a signal-to-noise (SNR) matrix that includes coupling terms between the antennas to determine tuning parameters, the MIMO antennas can be dynamically optimized as a system rather than individual tunable antennas

Effectiveness of Weekly Supplementation of Iron to Control Anaemia Among Adolescent Girls of Nashik, Maharashtra, India

A national nutritional anaemia-control programme in India, focusing on supplementation of iron to pregnant women after the first trimester of pregnancy, failed to make an impact. It is prudent to recommend the correction of iron stores before the woman becomes pregnant. ‘Efficacy’ of weekly supplementation of iron has been proved to improve iron stores in adolescence in many studies abroad and in India. The objective was to study the ‘effectiveness’ of a weekly iron-supplementation regimen among urban-slum, rural, and tribal girls of Nashik district, Maharashtra, India. A baseline and the mid-term assessments were done using the cluster-sampling techniques. In each stratum, 30 clusters were identified. Twelve and 10 adolescent girls from each cluster were identified in the baseline and mid-term surveys respectively. The haemoglobin estimation was done using the HemoCue system. Data were analyzed using the Epi Info software (version 6.04). The overall prevalence of anaemia came down significantly to 54.3% from 65.3%. The decline was statistically significant (p<0.001) in tribal girls (48.6% from 68.9%) and among rural girls (51.6% from 62.8%). But the decline was not statistically significant among urban slum girls. Similarly, a significant rise in the mean haemoglobin levels was seen among tribal and rural girls. However, it did not increase significantly among urban slum girls. The programme had performed poorly in urban-slum areas, as the mean number of tablets consumed in urban-slum areas was only 5.6±3.3, as against 6.7±2.6 tablets in tribal girls and 7.2±2.2 tablets in rural girls. Considering the biological and operational feasibility and the effectiveness of the intervention, weekly supplementation of iron to adolescent girls should be universally started to correct the iron stores of a woman before she becomes pregnant

Silicon Photonics is outlined because the utilization of silicon-based materials for the generation, guide, management and detection of sunshine to speak over distances. Optical technology suffered from a name as an upscale answer, supported high price of hardware parts, as they are usually unreal victimization exotic materials that are dear for producing. These limitations prompted Intel to analysis the development of fiber-optic parts from alternative materials, like chemical element earned abundant attention in recent years attributable to the maturity of chemical element within the industry and its chance of monolithic integration of each photonic and electronic devices on one chip. It develops high-volume low price optical parts victimization standard CMOS method-the IC producing process used nowadays. The varied challenges also because the milestones within the development of chemical element Photonic area unit mentioned. the issue in fabricating optical devices like optical device supply, modulators, detectors etc. on chemical element for prime shift speeds that gives high information rates for communication links also because the solutions hints by the chemical element photonics analysis cluster at Intel area unit projected.

Analyzing the effects of exercise prescribed based on health-related fitness assessment among different somatotypes

Get PDF
Introduction: Human body types (somatotypes) are classified into ectomorph, mesomorph, and endomorph. The ectomorphs are physically weak and usually tall. Mesomorphs were characterized as muscular, thick skinned with good upright posture. Endomorphs characterized as fat, heavy, and usually short. Methods: This study is an interventional study, in which a total number of 45 healthy male volunteers between the age group of 22 and 28 years were observed. Written consent was obtained from the patients after a detailed explanation of the study. Exercises were prescribed and executed based on the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) guidelines for exercise testing and prescription. Body composition, cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, and flexibility were assessed. Results: The statistical analyses were done using the SPSS software version 16 executed at a 95% confidence interval. Mean and standard deviations were calculated by descriptive statistics. A paired t-test was done to find the effectiveness of the intervention. The level of significance in all tests was set to p < 0.05. Positive changes were observed in health-related fitness among the three groups. Conclusion: This study reports about finding the somatotypes, and exercising based on that will provide the best results in health-related fitness components designed by the ACSM
