Response of walnut (Juglans regia L.) leaf aqueous extracts, on seed germination and seedling growth of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) in agri-silvi system of Uttarakhand

Effect of different doses of aqueous extracts of walnut leaf was studied on germinating seeds and early seedling growth of wheat variety (cv. VL-616) recommended for hills under West Himalayan agri-silvi system. Seven treatments comprised of distilled water control (0%), 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50% and 60% concentration of leaf extracts were treated. The effect of aqueous extracts was found inhibitive; indicate a direct proportional relationship with concentration dependent manner on seed germination and subsequent seedling growth of wheat. The wheat variety exhibited extent of phytotoxicity at 60% extracts application in comparison to untreated control. Invariably there was a decrease in first count, germination, seedling root and shoot length, seedling fresh and dry weight and vigour index with increasing aqueous extracts concentration on germinating wheat, however the shoot length was observed maximum at 60% concentration

Evaluation of Patient Satisfaction in the Hypertension Management Clinic

Hypertension is a disease that afflicts 50 million Americans. Hypertension is a major risk factor that contributes to coronary, renal, and cerebral artery diseases. In an effort to better serve the patients afflicted with hypertension, a major health maintenance organization has developed a nurse managed hypertension clinic. This hypertension clinic functions in accordance with the Joint National Commission on Hypertension guidelines. This study evaluated the satisfaction of those patients that were served by the health maintenance organization\u27s clinic. The results of the study reflected that, overall, most of the patients surveyed were satisfied by the services they received in the clinic. Clinic services offered are education about diet, exercise and blood pressure medications. In addition, patients reported feeling comfortable with individual future blood pressure self-management. Recommendations determined from this study are for the establishment of additional hypertension clinics directed by autonomous nurse practitioners to assist in the care of hypertensive patients in the managed care setting

PROSPECTIVE STUDY OF TRAGAL PERICHONDRIUM VERSUS TEMPORALIS FASCIA AS GRAFT FOR TYMPANOPLASTY

ABSTRACT Objective: Relative merit of materials and associated techniques for myringoplasty makes important study perspective of clinical relevance and evidence based practice. Methods: Prospective study of outcomes in myringoplasty using either temporalis fascia or tragal perichondrium in 23  adult patients of tympanic perforation is reported.2 months after surgery pure tone audiometry and tympanic membrane examinations were performed. Parameters observed were survival and uptake of graft and hearing improvement in terms of average air-bone gap. Results and Conclusion: Temporalis fascia graft is marginally superior.However near comparable outcomes with tragal perichondrium graft make it a choice option for cases with negative middle ear pressure with Eustachian tube dysfunction and large perforations Cartilage is more robust and unlikely to undergo retraction. Keywords: Atelactic ear, Myringoplasty, Tragal prichondrium, Tympanic perforation.Â

Challenges of Reading Comprehension in Early Primary Classrooms of India

The present paper provides details of a significant classroom based research study that explored the status of reading and comprehension instructions in early primary classrooms of Indian context. It is significant as there has been dearth of research in any of these fields—early reading, reading comprehension in early school years, and early grade classrooms in India. The study was exploratory, descriptive and qualitative in nature. It examines the nature of comprehension instructions, quality of reading experiences, whether reading experiences are meaningful for learners or not, kinds of reading materials present and accessible to students and nature of their engagement with texts in second grade classrooms. It describes various challenges of reading comprehension in early primary classrooms and evaluates the situation in light of the recommendations provided in the policy documents

Existence of solutions to neutral differential equations with deviated argument

In this paper we shall study a neutral differential equation with deviated argument in an arbitrary Banach space $X.$ With the help of the analytic semigroups theory and fixed point method we establish the existence and uniqueness of solutions of the given problem.
