Equilibrium spherically curved 2D Lennard-Jones systems
To learn about basic aspects of nano-scale spherical molecular shells during
their formation, spherically curved two-dimensional N-particle Lennard-Jones
systems are simulated, studying curvature evolution paths at zero-temperature.
For many N-values (N<800) equilibrium configurations are traced as a function
of the curvature radius R. Sharp jumps for tiny changes in R between
trajectories with major differences in topological structure correspond to
avalanche-like transitions. For a typical case, N=25, equilibrium
configurations fall on smooth trajectories in state space which can be traced
in the E-R plane. The trajectories show-up with local energy minima, from which
growth in N at steady curvature can develop.Comment: 10 pages, 2 figures, to be published in Journal of Chemical Physic
Search for Supersymmetric Dark Matter with Superfluid He3 (MACHe3)
MACHe3 (MAtrix of Cells of superfluid He3) is a project of a new detector for
direct Dark Matter search, using superfluid He3 as a sensitive medium. This
paper presents a phenomenological study done with the DarkSUSY code, in order
to investigate the discovery potential of this project of detector, as well as
its complementarity with existing and planned devices.Comment: 15 pages, 5 figures, submitted to Phys. Letters B, minor changes in

On Relativistic Material Reference Systems
This work closes certain gaps in the literature on material reference systems
in general relativity. It is shown that perfect fluids are a special case of
DeWitt's relativistic elastic media and that the velocity--potential formalism
for perfect fluids can be interpreted as describing a perfect fluid coupled to
a fleet of clocks. A Hamiltonian analysis of the elastic media with clocks is
carried out and the constraints that arise when the system is coupled to
gravity are studied. When the Hamiltonian constraint is resolved with respect
to the clock momentum, the resulting true Hamiltonian is found to be a
functional only of the gravitational variables. The true Hamiltonian is
explicitly displayed when the medium is dust, and is shown to depend on the
detailed construction of the clocks.Comment: 18 pages, ReVTe
