N′-(2,4-Dinitrophenyl)acetohydrazide
In the title compound, C8H8N4O5, the nitro groups ortho and para to the hydrazone group are twisted by 10.0 (2) and 3.6 (2)°, respectively, relative to the aromatic ring. The structure exhibits an intramolecular N—H⋯O hydrogen bond between the hydrazide and ortho-nitro groups. There is a strong intermolecular C=O⋯H—N hydrogen bond, giving rise to chains, and weaker ONO⋯NO2 [2.944 (2) Å] and C—H⋯O—N interactions linking the molecules into a three-dimensional network
Methyl 2-methyl-4-(oxiran-2-ylmethoxy)-2H-1,2-benzothiazine-3-carboxylate 1,1-dioxide
In the title compound, C14H15NO6S, the thiazine ring adopts a distorted half-chair conformation. The structure displays several cooperative weak intermolecular C—H⋯O hydrogen-bonding interactions, giving rise to a two-dimensional sheet packing motif. The CH2 group in the methoxy linker to the oxirane ring, and the CH group in that ring, exhibit twofold positional disorder. The three-membered oxirane ring is twisted approximately perpendicular with respect to thiazine ring (dihedral angle = 60/86° for the major/minor disorder components). 1,2-Benzothiazines of this kind have a wide range of biological activities and are mainly used as medicines in the treatment of inflammation and rheumatoid arthritis
Iron(III)-catalyzed chlorination of activated arenes
A general and regioselective method for the chlorination of activated arenes has been developed. The transformation uses iron(III) triflimide as a powerful Lewis acid for the activation of N-chlorosuccinimide and the subsequent chlorination of a wide range of anisole, aniline, acetanilide and phenol derivatives. The reaction was utilized for the late-stage mono- and di-chlorination of a range of target compounds such as the natural product nitrofungin, the antibacterial agent chloroxylenol and the herbicide chloroxynil. The facile nature of this transformation was demonstrated with the development of one-pot tandem iron-catalyzed dihalogenation processes allowing highly regioselective formation of different carbon-halogen bonds. The synthetic utility of the resulting dihalogenated aryl compounds as building blocks was established with the synthesis of natural products and pharmaceutically relevant targets
On the existence of positive solutions for generalized fractional boundary value problems
The existence of positive solutions is established for boundary value problems defined within generalized Riemann–Liouville and Caputo fractional operators. Our approach is based on utilizing the technique of fixed point theorems. For the sake of converting the proposed problems into integral equations, we construct Green functions and study their properties for three different types of boundary value problems. Examples are presented to demonstrate the validity of theoretical findings.Scopu
ON EXPONENTIAL CONVEXITY FOR POWER SUMS AND RELATED RESULTS
Abstract. In this paper, we use parameterized class of increasing functions to give exponential convexity of the non-negative difference of certain inequality as a function of parameter in connection with power sums. We define new means of Cauchy type and give its relation to the means defined in [5] and [6]. Also we give related mean value theorems of Cauchy type
Cholate Conjugated Polymeric Amphiphiles as Efficient Artificial Ionophores
A family of amphiphilic copolymers containing hydrophobic cholate pendants has been prepared by copolymerization of cholic acid-based monomer 2-(methacryloxy)-ethyl cholate (MAECA) with polyethylene glycol methyl ether methacrylate (PEGMA). The polymers differ for the content of MAECA that increases from 0 to 35%. The copolymers partition within liposomes and display potent ionophoric activity forming large pores in the membrane and allowing the leakage of small inorganic ions (H+, Na+) and of large polar organic molecules (calcein). Their activity is strictly correlated to the content of cholic acid subunits, increasing as the fraction of cholate moiety increases
Thrombolytic therapy in acute myocardial infarction in Pakistan.
To characterize features of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) in a Pakistani population, and assess the role of thrombolysis in our country, we studied 194 consecutive admitted patients with enzyme positive AMI. Males were affected three times more frequently; women, although affected less, had a higher incidence of complications than men. Premature coronary artery disease (CAD) was present in 50% patients presenting with AMI. An unusually high incidence of anterior wall myocardial infarction (39%) was seen. Complications were frequent with a predominance of LV failure symptoms. Cardiogenic shock was associated with a very high mortality, in excess of 93%. Streptokinase (SK) was administered in 60% patients with suspected transmural AMI. A statistically significant reduction in mortality was seen in the group that received SK (15.2%) compared to those who did not receive SK (24.7%), (p = \u3c 0.05)
