Charm and Charmonium Spectroscopy at the e+e- B-Factories

    Get PDF
Over the past few years, there has been a lot of progress in the areas of charm and charmonium spectroscopy, in large part due to the very large data samples being accumulated at the e+e- B-Factories. In this presentation I will focus on results in three areas: the X/Y/Z charmonium-candidate states, the D_sJ charmed-strange mesons, and newly-discovered charmed baryons. Note the absence of a section on pentaquarks: all B-Factory searches for pentaquarks, charmed or otherwise, have not yielded any observation of such states.Comment: Flavor Physics & CP Violation Conference, Vancouver, 2006; 11 pages, 14 figures; updated reference

    Low-mass scalar production in γγ\gamma \gamma scattering

We estimate the I=0 scalar meson σ/f0(600)\sigma/f_0(600) γγ\gamma\gamma widths, from ππ\pi\pi and γγ\gamma\gamma scattering data below 700 MeV using an improved analytic K-matrix model.Comment: 3 pages, 2 figures, Talk given at QCD 08 (Montpellier 7-12th july 2008

Light Scalar Mesons from Phi to Psi

The following topics are considered. 1) Confinement, chiral dynamics, and light scalar mesons. 2) Chiral shielding of the σ(600)\sigma(600). 3) The ϕ\phi meson radiative decays about nature of light scalar resonances. 4) The J/ψJ/\psi decays about nature of light scalar resonances. 5) The a0(980)γγa_0(980)\to\gamma\gamma and f0(980)γγf_0(980)\to\gamma\gamma decays about nature of light scalar resonances. 6) New round in γγπ+π\gamma\gamma\to\pi^+\pi^-, the Belle data. Arguments in favor of the four-quark model of the a0(980)a_0(980) and f0(980)f_0(980) mesons are given.Comment: 7 pages, 7 figures. Talk presented by N.N. The γγπ0π0\gamma\gamma\to\pi^0\pi^0 and ηπ0γγ\eta\to\pi^0\gamma\gamma Transitions in the Extended NJL Model

We calculate within the Extended Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model the leading in 1/Nc1/N_c contribution to γγπ0π0\gamma\gamma\to\pi^0\pi^0 to all orders in the external momenta and quark masses. This result is then combined with the known two-loop Chiral Perturbation Theory and compared with the data and other calculations. A technical difficulty in the same calculation beyond order p6p^6 for ηπ0γγ\eta\to\pi^0\gamma\gamma is identified and for this decay results up to order p6p^6 are presented.Comment: 13 pages, LaTeX, uses epsf.sty, 3 postscript figures included, complete postscript file available at http://www.nordita.dk/locinfo/preprints/95084.ps.g

    The sigma and f_0(980) from K_e4+pi-pi, gamma-gamma scatterings, J/psi, phi to gamma sigma_B and D_s to l nu sigma_B

We extract the pole positions, hadronic and gamma-gamma widths of sigma and f_0(980, from pi-pi and gamma-gamma scattering data using an improved analytic K-matrix model. Our results favour a large gluon component for the sigma and a \bar ss or/and gluon component for the f_0(980) but neither a large four-quark nor a molecule component. Gluonium sigma_B production from J/psi, phi radiative and D_s semi-leptonic decays are also discussed.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figures, 6 tables, talk given by X.-G. The Reaction γγπ0π0\gamma\gamma\to\pi^0\pi^0 in Generalized Chiral Perturbation Theory

The cross section for γγπ0π0\gamma\gamma\to\pi^0\pi^0 and the pion polarizabilities are computed, within generalized chiral perturbation theory, in the full one loop approximation, {\it i.e.} up to and including order O(p5)O({p^5}). The result depends on the parameter αππ{\alpha}_{\pi\pi} defining the tree level ππ\pi - \pi scattering amplitude and on an additional low energy constant. The latter is shown to be related by an exact sum-rule to the e+ee^+ e^- data. The parameter αππ{\alpha}_{\pi\pi} is related to the quark mass ratio r=ms/m^r = m_s /{\hat m} via the expansion of pseudoscalar meson masses. The generalized one loop γγπ0π0\gamma\gamma\to\pi^0\pi^0 amplitude agrees with the experimental data in the threshold region provided r= {m_s}/{\hat m}\lapprox 10. Higher order corrections are estimated comparing our calculation with the dispersive approach.Comment: 21 pages (plain latex)+1 fig (using feynman.tex)+ 6 figs (ps file appended), IPNO/TH 94-0

Unitary chiral dynamics in J/Psi to VPP decays and the role of scalar mesons

We make a theoretical study of the J/Psi decays into \omega\pi\pi, \phi\pi\pi, \omega K \bar{K} and \phi K\bar{K} using the techniques of the chiral unitary approach stressing the important role of the scalar resonances dynamically generated through the final state interaction of the two pseudoscalar mesons. We also discuss the importance of new mechanisms with intermediate exchange of vector and axial-vector mesons and the role played by the OZI rule in the J/\Psi\phi\pi\pi vertex, quantifying its effects. The results nicely reproduce the experimental data for the invariant mass distributions in all the channels considered.Comment: 29 pages, 10 figure
