Utjecaj zračnog prijevoza na kvalitetu uzoraka krvi
The aim of this study was to establish the impact of air transport on blood samples
packaged with and without cooling elements and effect of outdoor temperature on sample quality. Venous
samples from 38 blood donors in winter and 36 in summer were tested for hemolysis and complete
blood count. One tube per subject was kept in controlled conditions at +4 °C. Two sets of tubes were
sent by plane from Zagreb to Brussels, one with and one without cooling elements, and another two sets
were sent to London following the same principle. Packages with cooling elements were stored in controlled
warehousing conditions at airports (+2 °C to +8 °C), whereas packages without cooling elements
were stored in ambient warehouse conditions. Data loggers were used for temperature monitoring. Our
research revealed statistically significant differences in several hematologic parameters when comparing
the samples stored in controlled laboratory conditions and those transported by plane. These differences
were more pronounced in the samples transported during the summer. Transport conditions without
cooling elements had additional negative impact on the sample quality. Transport of samples using cooling
elements and controlled warehousing conditions at airports are sometimes not sufficient to maintain
laboratory storage conditions.

Total hip arthroplasty has become one of the most common procedures in orthopedic surgery. These patients must nevertheless be followed with care due to the risk of instability. Knowledge of early migration behavior can provide an indirect assessment of implant fixation. The purpose of this work was to develop a new measurement tool for early assessment of the femoral component.English AbstractJournal ArticleValidation StudiesSCOPUS: ar.jinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe
DISTRIBUTED 3D INFORMATION VISUALIZATION Towards Integration of the dynamic 3D graphics and Web Services
Abstract: This paper focuses on visualization and manipulation of graphical content in distributed network environments. The developed graphical middleware and 3D desktop prototypes were specialized for situational awareness. This research was done in the LArge Scale COllaborative decision support Technology (LASCOT) project, which explored and combined software technologies to support humancentred decision support system for crisis management (earthquake, tsunami, flooding, airplane or oil-tanker incidents, chemical, radio-active or other pollutants spreading, etc.). The performed state-of-the-art review did not identify any publicly available large scale distributed application of this kind. Existing proprietary solutions rely on the conventional technologies and 2D representations. Our challenge was to apply the "latest " available technologies, such Java3D, X3D and SOAP, compatible with average computer graphics hardware. The selected technologies are integrated and we demonstrate: the flow of data, which originates from heterogeneous data sources; interoperability across different operating systems and 3D visual representations to enhance the end-users interactions.
