An analysis of indicator values of four Saussurea DC. species, S. baicalensis (Adams) B. L. Rob., S. frolowii Ledeb., S. salicifolia (L.) DC., and S. schanginiana (Wydl.) Fisch. ex Serg., have been carried out by the method of indicator scales of soil moisture and nutrient availability and salinity in more than 1600 relevΓ©s. The size of their ecological ranges and the values of their competitiveness in phytocenoses are determined. As a result of a comparison of the locality of local populations within the ecological range and their occurrence, the vulnerability of S. baicalensis, S. frolowii, S. salicifolia, and S. schanginiana in the Kuznetsk Alatau is evaluated. The types of rarity for these species in the Kuznetsk Alatau are determined

A new species of Ranunculus (Ranunculaceae) from Western Pamir-Alay, Uzbekistan

New data on the phylogeny of four rare and endemic species of RanunculusL. (sect. RanunculastrumDC.) of western Pamir-Alai, one of which is new to science, have been obtained. Ranunculus tojibaeviisp. nov., from the Baysuntau Mountains, Western Hissar Range of Uzbekistan, is described. The new species is closely related to R. botschantzeviiOvcz., R. convexiusculusKovalevsk. and R. alpigenusKom., but differs in the blade of the radical leaves, which is rounded-reniform, segments 3–5-dissected, each 2–5-partite with elongated, rounded apical lobes. A phylogenetic analysis, using both the nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and cpDNA (matK,rbcL,trnL-trnF), was informative in placing R. tojibaevii in context with its most closely-related species. Discussion on the geographic distribution, updated identification key, a detailed description, insights about its habitat and illustrations are provided

Conservation categories and rarity types of Siberian Saussurea species

    No full text
The criteria for assessing conservation categories of rare species are not identical in drafting the red lists of Russia and the IUCN. By the example of genus Saussurea (Compositae), we have shown that the conservation measures for some endangered species do not match their state. We conducted indicator analyses on two factors of more than 9000 relevΓ©s with Saussurea species with large ranges and determined their rarity types according to D. Rabinowitz. Only 2 Siberian Saussurea species are not characterised by any type of rarity. The other 54 taxa all feature a small range, low abundance or high habitat specificity

Coenocomplex and ecological area of Atragene speciosa Weinm. in the Altai-Sayan mountain region

    Get PDF
Atragene speciosa Weinm. is a valuable nootropic medicinal plant, but not abundant in nature. The coenocomplex of Atragene speciosa consists mainly of dark coniferous taiga forest. The species composition of this cenocomplex includes 324 species, 74 of which are constant. According to humidity of habitats, this species is in the mesophyte group, and, according to the abundance and salinity or nutrient status of soil, it refers to the mesotrophic group. Cattle grazing is very little or absent in the sites of its vegetation

The Dynamics of Multi-Peak Pulsed Generation in a Q-Switched Thulium-Doped Fiber Laser

    No full text
We demonstrate a detailed theoretical and experimental study of a thulium-doped fiber laser being Q-switched by means of an acousto-optic modulator. The processes leading to the generation of discontinuous multi-peak pulses with an energy of up to 5 μJ and a nanosecond structure are described. The dynamics of the multi-peak structure’s evolution is demonstrated and a method of switching to a single-pulse mode is proposed
