    Chiral Lagrangians for spin-12\frac{1}{2} and spin-32\frac{3}{2} doubly charmed baryons

    The relativistic chiral Lagrangians for both spin-12\frac{1}{2} and spin-32\frac{3}{2} doubly charmed baryons are constructed up to the order O(p4)\mathcal{O}(p^{4}). From O(p2)\mathcal{O}(p^{2}) to O(p4)\mathcal{O}(p^{4}), there are 19, 74, and 452 independent terms in the two-flavor case and 25, 112, and 864 independent terms in the three-flavor case. The chiral Lagrangians in the heavy diquark limit are also obtained. From O(p2)\mathcal{O}(p^{2}) to O(p4)\mathcal{O}(p^{4}), there are 7, 23, and 118 independent terms in the two-flavor case and 8, 31, and 189 independent terms in the three-flavor case. We present the low-energy constant relations between the relativistic case and the case in the heavy diquark limit up to the order O(p3)\mathcal{O}(p^{3}). With the heavy diquark-antiquark symmetry, the low-energy constant relations between the doubly charmed baryon case and the heavy-light meson case are also obtained up to the order O(p3)\mathcal{O}(p^{3}).Comment: 28 page

    Chiral Lagrangians for singly heavy baryons to one loop

    The chiral Lagrangians for singly heavy baryons are constructed up to the O(p4)\mathcal{O}(p^{4}) order. The involved baryons may be in a flavor antitriplet with spin-1/2, a flavor sextet with spin-1/21/2, or a flavor sextet with spin-3/2 when one considers three light flavors. For the relativistic version of Lagrangian, from O(p2)\mathcal{O}(p^{2}) to O(p4)\mathcal{O}(p^{4}), there exist 48, 199, and 1242 independent terms in the SU(2)SU(2) case and 59, 307, and 2454 independent terms in the SU(3)SU(3) case, respectively. For the Lagrangian in the heavy quark limit, from O(p2)\mathcal{O}(p^{2}) to O(p4)\mathcal{O}(p^{4}), the numbers of independent terms are reduced to 16, 64, and 412 in the SU(2)SU(2) case and to 17, 88, and 714 in the SU(3)SU(3) case, respectively. We obtain the low-energy constant relations between the relativistic case and the heavy-quark case up to the O(p3)\mathcal{O}(p^{3}) order. The relations between low-energy constants of independent relativistic terms are also presented up to this order by using the heavy quark symmetry.Comment: 51 page

    Deep Self-Taught Hashing for Image Retrieval

    Hashing algorithm has been widely used to speed up image retrieval due to its compact binary code and fast distance calculation. The combination with deep learning boosts the performance of hashing by learning accurate representations and complicated hashing functions. So far, the most striking success in deep hashing have mostly involved discriminative models, which require labels. To apply deep hashing on datasets without labels, we propose a deep self-taught hashing algorithm (DSTH), which generates a set of pseudo labels by analyzing the data itself, and then learns the hash functions for novel data using discriminative deep models. Furthermore, we generalize DSTH to support both supervised and unsupervised cases by adaptively incorporating label information. We use two different deep learning framework to train the hash functions to deal with out-of-sample problem and reduce the time complexity without loss of accuracy. We have conducted extensive experiments to investigate different settings of DSTH, and compared it with state-of-the-art counterparts in six publicly available datasets.     Dietary Lysozyme Alters Sow’s Gut Microbiota, Serum Immunity and Milk Metabolite Profile

    The aim of current study was to determine variations in sow’s gut microbiota, serum immunity, and milk metabolite profile mediated by lysozyme supplementation. Twenty-four pregnant sows were assigned to a control group without supplementation and two treatments with 0.5 kg/t and 1.0 kg/t lysozyme provided in formula feed for 21 days (n = 8 per treatment). Microbiota analysis and metagenomic predictions were based on 16s RNA high-throughput sequencing. Milk metabolome was assessed by untargeted liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry. Serum biochemical indicators and immunoglobulins were also determined. Gut microbial diversity of sows receiving 1.0 kg/t lysozyme treatment was significantly reduced after the trial. Spirochaetes, Euryarchaeota, and Actinobacteria significantly increased while Firmicutes showed a remarkable reduction in 1.0 kg/t group compared with control. Lysozyme addition rebuilt sow’s gut microbiota to beneficial composition identified by reduced richness of Escherichia coli and increased abundance of Lactobacillus amylovorus. Accordingly, microbial metabolic functions including pyrimidine metabolism, purine metabolism, and amino acid related enzymes were significantly up-regulated in 1.0 kg/t group. Microbial metabolic phenotypes like the richness of Gram-positive bacteria and oxidative stress tolerance were also significantly reduced by lysozyme treatment. Serum alanine transaminase (ALT) activity and IgA levels were significantly down-regulated in the 1.0 kg/t group compared with control, but IgM levels showed a significantly increase in 1.0 kg/t group. Milk metabolites such as L-glutamine, creatine, and L-arginine showed significantly dose-dependent changes after treatment. Overall, lysozyme supplementation could effectively improve the composition, metabolic functions, and phenotypes of sow’s gut microbiota and it also benefit sows with better serum immunity and milk composition. This research could provide theoretical support for further application of lysozyme in promoting animal gut health and prevent pathogenic infections in livestock production

    The First Data Release of the Beijing-Arizona Sky Survey

    The Beijing-Arizona Sky Survey (BASS) is a new wide-field legacy imaging survey in the northern Galactic cap using the 2.3m Bok telescope. The survey will cover about 5400 deg2^2 in the gg and rr bands, and the expected 5σ\sigma depths (corrected for the Galactic extinction) in the two bands are 24.0 and 23.4 mag, respectively. BASS started observations in January 2015, and has completed about 41% of the whole area as of July 2016. The first data release contains both calibrated images and photometric catalogs obtained in 2015 and 2016. The depths of single-epoch images in the two bands are 23.4 and 22.9 mag, and the full depths of three epochs are about 24.1 and 23.5 mag, respectively.Comment: 16 pages, published by A

    Lysine-5 Acetylation Negatively Regulates Lactate Dehydrogenase A and Is Decreased in Pancreatic Cancer

    SummaryTumor cells commonly have increased glucose uptake and lactate accumulation. Lactate is produced from pyruvate by lactate dehydrogenase A (LDH-A), which is frequently overexpressed in tumor cells and is important for cell growth. Elevated transcription by c-Myc or HIF1α may contribute to increased LDH-A in some cancer types. Here, we show that LDH-A is acetylated at lysine 5 (K5) and that this acetylation inhibits LDH-A activity. Furthermore, the K5-acetylated LDH-A is recognized by the HSC70 chaperone and delivered to lysosomes for degradation. Replacement of endogenous LDH-A with an acetylation mimetic mutant decreases cell proliferation and migration. Importantly, K5 acetylation of LDH-A is reduced in human pancreatic cancers.     YhjX Regulates the Growth of Escherichia coli in the Presence of a Subinhibitory Concentration of Gentamicin and Mediates the Adaptive Resistance to Gentamicin

    The mechanisms of adaptive resistance of Escherichia coli to aminoglycosides remain unclear. Our RNA-Seq study found that expression of yhjX was markedly upregulated during initial exposure to subinhibitory concentrations of gentamicin. The expression of yhjX was then downregulated dramatically during a second exposure to gentamicin compared to the first exposure. YhjX encodes a putative transporter of the major facilitator superfamily, which is known to be the sole target of the YpdA/YpdB two-component system, the expression of which is highly and specifically induced by pyruvate. To investigate the effect of yhjX on the adaptive resistance of E. coli, in the present study, we constructed yhjX deletion and complemented strains of E. coli ATCC25922. Changes in extracellular pyruvate levels of wide-type and yhjX mutant were measured to determine whether YhjX functions as a pyruvate transporter. The results showed that yhjX deletion improved the growth of E. coli in medium containing subinhibitory concentrations of gentamicin. The yhjX deletion mutant did not exhibit adaptive resistance to subinhibitory concentrations of gentamicin. YhjX might not function as a pyruvate efflux pump in E. coli but was associated with the decrease following a sharp increase in the extracellular pyruvate level. Our findings indicate that yhjX regulates the growth of E. coli in the presence of a subinhibitory concentration of gentamicin and mediates the adaptive resistance to gentamicin

Simply through tailoring the relative concentrations of less OER-active tin and iron dopants, a cubic perovskite structure (BaCo0.7Fe0.2Sn0.1O3–δ) is stabilized, showing intrinsic OER activity >1 order of magnitude larger than IrO2 and a Tafel slope of 69 mV dec−1
