    THE MISTY WORLDS OF ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE

    Abstract: Arthur Conan Doyle’s interest in spiritualism and all kind of natural mysteries of the material world is well known. The paper aims to trace how the writer’s devotion was reflected in his works of fiction. Conan Doyle tried to depict ghosts and spirits in many of his writings, basing the images on his own experience, evidences of other people and, obviously, imagination. The paper traces how the genre form can influence the imagery. It is shown that Doyle demonstrated different approaches in his writings concerning the supernatural phenomena. The close interlacing of the Gothic elements with pragmatic scientific approach of the author form strong artistic effect. His mystical stories of the 1890-1910s leave place for the reader's imagination even when they give rational explanation of the strangeevents and thus they can be defined as typically neo-romantic in their origin. The naturalistic description of paranormal phenomena in The Land of Mist aimed to prove their reality makes the miracles look fake and ridiculous. Doyle’s attempt to use the form of the adventure novel and familiar popular characters to show his readership the importance and beauty of Spiritualism failed.     Cinematographic incarnation of Janusz Wiśniewski’s novel “Loneliness On The Net”

    The article analyzes the cinematographic adaptation of Polish writer Janusz Wiśniewski’s the most popular novel “Loneliness On The Net”. The director of the interpretation is W. Adamek, the screenwriter is Wiśniewski. Despite this, the film received ambiguous reviews among the audience. The cinematic version of “Loneliness On The Net” is characterized by a fairly free interpretation of the novel’s plot. Although the main theme (loneliness) and heroes are preserved, the final is changed and some accents are shifted in the film. At the same time the director uses rather interesting and unusual techniques for transferring certain details from the language of literature to the language of cinema

On the materials of federal and regional archives, the author analyzes the problems of organization and activity of volost justice in the Russian Empire after the abolition of serfdom. The class structure of society, the diluted legal and regulatory framework for regulating the judicial process of volost judges and magistrates, the parallel coexistence of ordinary and positive law, the archaic system of appeals of peasant cases led to constant conflicts in the jurisdiction of small court cases and their prolongation, softness and polarity of decisions of volost judges for identical criminal misconduct, the absence of a unified approach in the system of cassation appeal, casuistry, bureaucratic red tape and the involvment of higher court to resolve minor misconduct, and, consequently, distrust of a large part of the country’s population to the local court

    Series de television y su novelización: Neverwhere por neil gaiman

    This research compares the TV series of Neverwhere with its novelization by Neil Gaiman. The Content analysis method was used with a central focus on the fidelity of the characters. Research findings indicated that Gaiman has been loyal to preserving the nature of the characters; however, he added love to the axis of story. On the other hand, Gaiman has kept the same personal and complete world of each character and fulfilled the same cinematic techniques such as audio cut, image change, and space change in his book as well.En esta investigación se compara la serie de televisión Neverwhere con la novela que lleva su mismo nombre de Neil Gaiman. Para ello, se utilizó el método de análisis de contenido con un enfoque centrado en la fidelidad de los personajes de la serie. Se utilizaron criterios literales para transformar una obra visual en una escrita, y finalmente intentar crear nuevos conceptos. Los resultados indican que Gaiman ha sido leal a la preservación de la naturaleza de los personajes, con solo una manipulación para agregar amor al contenido de la historia. Por otro lado, se observó que Gaiman ha mantenido el mismo mundo personal y completo de cada personaje y ha cumplido con las mismas técnicas cinematográficas como el corte de audio, el cambio de imagen y el cambio de espacio en su libro
