    Feature Selection for Categorization of Online News Articles in Myanmar Language

    In text mining, the feature selection plays an important role to reduce the high dimensionality of feature space. It can improve the accuracy of the document clustering process and help to avoid overfitting problem. Nowadays, the enormous amount of news article documents is widely available on the internet due to the rapid development of the web. Consequently, there is an urgent need to extract useful content from overloaded information. The categorization of online text documents is crucial to avoid information overload and it can help readers to find rapidly their interesting topic. The problem arises for text categorization is the large number of features space. This study has two phases, documents preprocessing and feature selection. Document preprocessing contains documents collection, syllable segmentation, word segmentation, removing stop words for extracting features from the collection of Myanmar online news documents including sport, health, crime etc. In this study, TF-IDF weighting method is adapted for feature selection. The experimental result shows the adapted TF-IDF method has higher performance than based TF-IDF method

    Historical Morphodynamics Assessment in Bridge Areas using Remote Sensing and GIS Techniques

    Currently the Ministry of Construction is responsible for planning and construction of bridges across the country but remote sensing and satellite data are not widely used in the Ministry’s routine process. Although the inspection and monitoring are carried out by the conventional methods, the remote sensing and GIS techniques are available as an alternative way with time and cost saving. From this study, the channel migration in the locations of Ayeyarwady bridges will be analyzed and mapped by identifying temporal changes of channels. Google Earth Engine is used as the primary application in this study and surface water extraction from historical Landsat satellite imagery is done by GEE. River centerline processing and erosion-deposition area identifications are carried out by GIS technique. Study period of each bridge is between 1987 and 2017. Bo Myat Tun Bridge and Ayeyarwady Bridge (Pakokku) are toped in the list with highest migration and erosion-deposition rate according to the study. The goal of this study is to assist the bridge inspections and channel monitoring works by means of remote sensing and GIS techniques which are currently undertaking by Ministry of Construction with conventional techniques

    Assessment of Future Climate Change Projections Using Multiple Global Climate Models

    Nowadays, the hydrological cycle which alters river discharge and water availability is affected by climate change. Therefore, the understanding of climate change is curial for the security of hydrologic conditions of river basins. The main purpose of this study is to assess the projections of future climate across the Upper Ayeyarwady river basin for its sustainable development and management of water sector for this area. Global Ten climate Models available from CMIP5 represented by the IPCC for its fifth Assessment Report were bias corrected using linear scaling method to generate the model error. Among the GCMs, a suitable climate model for each station is selected based on the results of performance indicators (R2 and RMSE). Future climate data are projected based on the selected suitable climate models by using future climate scenarios: RCP2.6, RCP4.5, and RCP8.5. According to this study, future projection indicates to increase in precipitation amounts in the rainy and winter season and diminishes in summer season under all future scenarios. Based on the seasonal temperature changes analysis for all stations,  the future temperature are  predicted to steadily increase with higher rates during summer than the other two seasons and it can also be concluded that the monthly minimum temperature rise is a bit larger than the maximum temperature rise in all seasons

    Analysis of Streamflow Response to Changing Climate Conditions Using SWAT Model

    The understanding of climate change is curial for the security of hydrologic conditions of river basins and it is very important to study the climate change impacts on streamflow by analyzing the different climate scenarios with the help of the hydrological models. The main purpose of this study is to project the future climate impact on streamflow by using the SWAT model. The multi-model projections indicated that Upper Ayeyarwady River Basin is likely to become hotter in dry season under low rainfall intensity with increasing temperature and likely to become wetter but warmer in both rainy and winter season because of high rainfall intensity with increased temperature in future. The impact of climate change scenarios is predicted to decrease the annual streamflow by about 0.30 to 1.92% under RCP2.6, 5.59 to 7.29% under RCP4.5 and 10.43 to 11.92% under RCP8.5. Based on the change in high and low flow percentage with respect to the baseline period, the difference between high and low flow variation range will increase year by year based on future scenarios. Therefore, it can be concluded that it may occur more low flow in the dry season which leads to increase in water scarcity and drought and more high flow in the wet season which can cause flooding, water insecurity, stress, and other water-related disasters

    Thesis(Master) --KDI School:Master of Public Policy,2017The present study investigates long-run equilibrium relationship between real economic growth, foreign direct investment, and domestic savings in Myanmar, which has a developing economy. Bounds tests confirm that foreign direct investments and domestic savings are in long-term equilibrium relationship with real GDP growth. Domestic savings and FDI have positive, statistically significant, and inelastic impact on real GDP both in the long term and short term of the Myanmar economy. Error correction model reveals that real GDP of Myanmar converges to its long-term equilibrium level by 74.7% (which is high) by the contribution of foreign direct investment and domestic savings.     Requirement prioritization based on non-functional requirement classification using hierarchy analytic hierarchy process

    This Requirement prioritization is the process in requirement engineering which in one stage in SDLC. Requirements engineering process aid to increase the excellence of software systems. Software system requirements are often classified as functional requirements (FR) or non-functional requirement (NFR). To produce a high-quality software system, both functional and non-functional requirement must be considered during requirement prioritization process. Most of the existing requirement prioritization method is only considering functional requirements since but neglecting the effect of NFR on specified FR. The aim of this paper to propose requirement prioritization technique that embed the non-functional requirements using existing RALIC dataset. Implementation of this paper, RALIC dataset hierarchy (a) use pairwise comparison and consistency ratio check for accuracy. Classified the percentage of NFR for hierarchy (a). Hierarchy (a) pairwise comparison result of weights (a.1) was (0.60) which is highest prioritized. Classified the NFR for hierarchy (a) requirements was efficiency (60%), security was (31%) and usability was (11%). Efficiency was the highest in hierarchy (a). Oppositely, highest percentage of NFR for hierarchy (a to j) was Portability requirement (92%) from hierarchy (e). The finding, when make the pairwise comparison for hierarchy (a to j) requirements input was (15, 051), in contrast, hierarchically pairwise comparison for (a to j) requirements input was (403). Therefore, hierarchically comparison can be reduced the number of requirements (97.33 %)

    Authentications of Myanmar National Registration Card

    The automatic identification system of Myanmar national registration card (NRC) holder is presented in this paper. The proposed system can be handled the identification by the extracted low quality face image and fingerprint image from Myanmar NRC. Both of the facial recognition and fingerprint recognition system are developed for Myanmar citizenship confirmation. Age invariant face recognition algorithm is performed based on combination of DiaPCA (Diagonal principal Component Analysis) and KNN (Kth nearest neighbor classifier) approaches. An algorithm of the fingerprint recognition is proposed for recognition of the poor quality fingerprint image with fabric background.  Several experiments have been done for confirming the effectiveness of the proposed approach
