The phase diagram and bulk thermodynamical quantities in the NJL model at finite temperature and density
We reexamine the recent instanton motivated studies of Alford, Rajagopal and
Wilczek, and Berges and Rajagopal in the framework of the standard SU(2)
Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. The chiral phase diagram is calculated in the
temperature--density plane, and the pressure is evaluated as the function of
the density. Obtaining simple approximate relations describing the -
and - phase transition lines we find that the results of the instanton
based model and that of the NJL model are identical. The diquark transition

Triggers for displaced decays of long-lived neutral particles in the ATLAS detector
A set of three dedicated triggers designed to detect long-lived neutral particles decaying throughout the ATLAS detector to a pair of hadronic jets is described. The efficiencies of the triggers for selecting displaced decays as a function of the decay position are presented for simulated events. The electromagnetic calorimeter of the AMS-02 experiment
The electromagnetic calorimeter (ECAL) of the AMS-02 experiment is a
3-dimensional sampling calorimeter, made of lead and scintillating fibers. The
detector allows for a high granularity, with 18 samplings in the longitudinal
direction, and 72 sampling in the lateral direction. The ECAL primary goal is
to measure the energy of cosmic rays up to few TeV, however, thanks to the fine
grained structure, it can also provide the separation of positrons from
protons, in the GeV to TeV region. A direct measurement of high energy photons
with accurate energy and direction determination can also be provided.Comment: Proceedings of SF2A conference 201
Equation of state for the 2+1 dimensional Gross-Neveu model at order 1/N
We calculate the equation of state of the Gross-Neveu model in 2+1 dimensions
at order 1/N, where N is the number of fermion species. We make use of a
general formula valid for four-fermion theories, previously applied to the
model in 1+1 dimensions. We consider both the discrete and continuous symmetry
versions of the model. We show that the pion-like excitations give the dominant
contribution at low temperatures. The range of validity for such pion dominance
is analyzed. The complete analysis from low to high temperatures also shows
that in the critical region the role of composite states is relevant, even for
quite large N, and that the free-component behaviour at high T starts at about

Does Co-Creation of Service Recovery Create Value for Customers? The Underlying Mechanism of Motivation and the Role of Operant Resources
International audienceThis study focuses on the underlying mechanism that leads to coârecovery behaviour and favourable coâcreated value as response to a service failure. It argues that consumersâ ability to integrate their operant resources (e.g., knowledge and skills) to coârecover from a service failure motivates them to express higher value coârecovery inârole behaviour and hence enjoy higher hedonic and utilitarian values. To test this claim, our study investigates the impact of consumersâ ability to coârecover on value coârecovery inârole behaviour by taking into account extrinsic and intrinsic motivation as mediators. The results reveal that extrinsic motivation only partially mediates the relationship between ability to coârecover and value coârecovery inârole behaviour. Furthermore, the outcomes demonstrate that value coârecovery inârole behaviour increases utilitarian value but decreases hedonic valu
Quantum kinetics and thermalization in an exactly solvable model
We study the dynamics of relaxation and thermalization in an exactly solvable
model with the goal of understanding the effects of off-shell processes. The
focus is to compare the exact evolution of the distribution function with
different approximations to the relaxational dynamics: Boltzmann, non-Markovian
and Markovian quantum kinetics. The time evolution of the distribution function
is evaluated exactly using two methods: time evolution of an initially prepared
density matrix and by solving the Heisenberg equations of motion. There are two
different cases that are studied in detail: i) no stable particle states below
threshold of the bath and a quasiparticle resonance above it and ii) a stable
discrete exact `particle' state below threshold. For the case of quasiparticles
in the continuum (resonances) the exact quasiparticle distribution
asymptotically tends to a statistical equilibrium distribution that differs
from a simple Bose-Einstein form as a result of off-shell processes. In the
case ii), the distribution of particles does not thermalize with the bath. We
study the kinetics of thermalization and relaxation by deriving a non-Markovian
quantum kinetic equation which resums the perturbative series and includes
off-shell effects. A Markovian approximation that includes off-shell
contributions and the usual Boltzmann equation are obtained from the quantum
kinetic equation in the limit of wide separation of time scales upon different
coarse-graining assumptions. The relaxational dynamics predicted by the
non-Markovian, Markovian and Boltzmann approximations are compared to the exact
result of the model. The Boltzmann approach is seen to fail in the case of wide

Hierarchy of Temporal Responses of Multivariate Self-Excited Epidemic Processes
We present the first exact analysis of some of the temporal properties of
multivariate self-excited Hawkes conditional Poisson processes, which
constitute powerful representations of a large variety of systems with bursty
events, for which past activity triggers future activity. The term
"multivariate" refers to the property that events come in different types, with
possibly different intra- and inter-triggering abilities. We develop the
general formalism of the multivariate generating moment function for the
cumulative number of first-generation and of all generation events triggered by
a given mother event (the "shock") as a function of the current time . This
corresponds to studying the response function of the process. A variety of
different systems have been analyzed. In particular, for systems in which
triggering between events of different types proceeds through a one-dimension
directed or symmetric chain of influence in type space, we report a novel
hierarchy of intermediate asymptotic power law decays of the rate of triggered events as a function of the
distance of the events to the initial shock in the type space, where for the relevant long-memory processes characterizing many natural
and social systems. The richness of the generated time dynamics comes from the
cascades of intermediate events of possibly different kinds, unfolding via a
kind of inter-breeding genealogy.Comment: 40 pages, 8 figure
Electrical and thermoelectrical transport in Dirac fermions through a quantum dot
We investigate the conductance and thermopower of massless Dirac fermions
through a quantum dot using a pseudogap Anderson model in the non-crossing
approximation. When the Fermi level is at the Dirac point, the conductance has
a cusp where the thermopower changes its sign. When the Fermi level is away
from the Dirac point, the Kondo temperature illustrates a quantum impurity
transition between an asymmetric strong coupling Kondo state and a localized
moment state. The conductance shows a peak near this transition and reaches the
unitary limit at low temperatures. The magnitude of the thermopower exceeds
, and the thermoelectric figure of merit exceeds unity.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure
Protons in near earth orbit
The proton spectrum in the kinetic energy range 0.1 to 200 GeV was measured
by the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) during space shuttle flight STS-91 at
an altitude of 380 km. Above the geomagnetic cutoff the observed spectrum is
parameterized by a power law. Below the geomagnetic cutoff a substantial second
spectrum was observed concentrated at equatorial latitudes with a flux ~ 70
m^-2 sec^-1 sr^-1. Most of these second spectrum protons follow a complicated
trajectory and originate from a restricted geographic region.Comment: 19 pages, Latex, 7 .eps figure
Search for antihelium in cosmic rays
The Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) was flown on the space shuttle
Discovery during flight STS-91 in a 51.7 degree orbit at altitudes between 320
and 390 km. A total of 2.86 * 10^6 helium nuclei were observed in the rigidity
range 1 to 140 GV. No antihelium nuclei were detected at any rigidity. An upper
limit on the flux ratio of antihelium to helium of < 1.1 * 10^-6 is obtained.Comment: 18 pages, Latex, 9 .eps figure
