    The field of two-dimensional topological semimetals, which emerged at the intersection of two-dimensional materials and topological materials, have been rapidly developing in recent years. In this article, we briefly review the progress in this field. Our focus is on the basic concepts and notions, in order to convey a coherent overview of the field. Some material examples are discussed to illustrate the concepts. We discuss the outstanding problems in the field that need to be addressed in future research.Comment: 14 pages, 23 figure

    Quantum phase transitions of interacting bosons on hyperbolic lattices

    The effect of many-body interaction in curved space is studied based on the extended Bose--Hubbard model on hyperbolic lattices. Using the mean-field approximation and quantum Monte Carlo simulation, the phase diagram is explicitly mapped out, which contains the superfluid, supersolid and insulator phases at various fillings. Particularly, it is revealed that the sizes of the Mott lobes shrink and the supersolid is stabilized at smaller nearest-neighbor interaction as qq in the Schl\"afli symbol increases. The underlying physical mechanism is attributed to the increase of the coordination number, and hence the kinetic energy and the nearest-neighbor interaction. The results suggest that the hyperbolic lattices may be a unique platform to study the effect of the coordination number on quantum phase transitions, which may be relevant to the experiments of ultracold atoms in optical lattices.Comment: 7 pages, 5 figure

    Variations in Soil Bacterial Community Diversity and Structures Among Different Revegetation Types in the Baishilazi Nature Reserve

    We compared patterns of soil bacterial community diversity and structure in six secondary forests (JM, Juglans mandshurica; QM, Quercus mongolica; MB, mixed Broadleaf forest; BE, Betula ermanii; CB, conifer-broadleaf forest; PT, Pinus tabuliformis) and two plantation forests (LG, Larix gmelinii; PK, Pinus koraiensis) of the Baishilazi Nature Reserve, China, based on the 16S rRNA high-throughput Illumina sequencing data. The correlations between the bacterial community and soil environmental factors were also examined. The results showed that the broadleaf forests (JM, QM, MB) had higher levels of total C (TC), total N (TN), available N (AN), and available K (AK) compared to the coniferous forests (PT, LG, PK) and conifer-broadleaf forest (CB). Different revegetation pathways had different effects on the soil bacterial community diversity and structure. For the α-diversity, the highest Shannon index and Simpson index were found in JM. The Simpson index was significantly positively correlated with the available P (AP) (P < 0.05), and the Shannon index was significantly positively correlated with AK (P < 0.05). Compared with others, the increased ACE index and Chao1 index were observed in the CB and MB, and both of these α-diversity were significantly negative with AK (P < 0.05). The relative abundances of bacterial phyla and genera differed among different revegetation types. At the phylum level, the dominant phylum groups in all soils were Proteobacteria, Acidobacteria, Actinobacteria, Verrucomicrobia, Chloroflexi, Bacteroidetes, Gemmatimonadetes, and Planctomycetes. Significant differences in relative abundance of bacteria phyla were found for Acidobacteria, Actinobacteria, Chloroflexi, Gemmatimonadetes, and Proteobacteria. Correlation analysis showed that Soil pH, TC, TN, AP, and AK were the main abiotic factors structuring the bacterial communities. As revealed by the clear differentiation of bacterial communities and the clustering in the heatmap and in the PCA plots, broadleaf forests and coniferous forests harbored distinct bacterial communities, indicating a significant impact of the respective reforestation pathway on soil bacterial communities in the Baishilazi Nature Reserve

    A Co-learning Method to Utilize Optical Images and Photogrammetric Point Clouds for Building Extraction

    Although deep learning techniques have brought unprecedented accuracy to automatic building extraction, several main issues still constitute an obstacle to effective and practical applications. The industry is eager for higher accuracy and more flexible data usage. In this paper, we present a co-learning framework applicable to building extraction from optical images and photogrammetric point clouds, which can take the advantage of 2D/3D multimodality data. Instead of direct information fusion, our co-learning framework adaptively exploits knowledge from another modality during the training phase with a soft connection, via a predefined loss function. Compared to conventional data fusion, this method is more flexible, as it is not mandatory to provide multimodality data in the test phase. We propose two types of co-learning: a standard version and an enhanced version, depending on whether unlabeled training data are employed. Experimental results from two data sets show that the methods we present can enhance the performance of both image and point cloud networks in few-shot tasks, as well as image networks when applying fully labeled training data sets

    A Phase-Coded Time-Domain Interleaved OTFS Waveform with Improved Ambiguity Function

    Integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) is a significant application scenario in future wireless communication networks, and sensing capability of a waveform is always evaluated by the ambiguity function. To enhance the sensing performance of the orthogonal time frequency space (OTFS) waveform, we propose a novel time-domain interleaved cyclic-shifted P4-coded OTFS (TICP4-OTFS) with improved ambiguity function. TICP4-OTFS can achieve superior autocorrelation features in both the time and frequency domains by exploiting the multicarrier-like form of OTFS after interleaved and the favorable autocorrelation attributes of the P4 code. Furthermore, we present the vectorized formulation of TICP4-OTFS modulation as well as its signal structure in each domain. Numerical simulations show that our proposed TICP4-OTFS waveform outperforms OTFS with a narrower mainlobe as well as lower and more distant sidelobes in terms of delay and Doppler-dimensional ambiguity functions, and an instance of range estimation using pulse compression is illustrated to exhibit the proposed waveform\u2019s greater resolution.
