Natural language is more in line with the real thoughts of people than crisp numbers considering that qualitative language information is more consistent with the expression habits of experts. Double hierarchy hesitant fuzzy linguistic preference relation (DHHFLPR) can be used to express complex linguistic preference information accurately because the pairwise comparison methods are more accurate than non-pairwise methods. Consistency reflects the rationalization of a preference relation and can be used to judge whether a preference relation is self-contradictory or not. In this paper, an interval consistency index of DHHFLPR is developed, which is consisted by the consistency indices of all double hierarchy linguistic preference relations associated with the DHHFLPR. Additionally, an average consistency index of DHHFLPR is given by calculating the average value of the consistency indices of all double hierarchy linguistic preference relations. Moreover, we develop a consistency checking and repairing method for DHHFLPR. Finally, we apply the proposed method into a practical group decision-making problem that is to identify the most critical factors in developing lung cancer, and some comparative analyses involving the connections and differences among the proposed consistency indices are analysed

The risk assessment of construction project investment based on prospect theory with linguistic preference orderings

Multiple experts decision-making (MEDM) can be regarded as a situation where a group of experts are invited to provide their opinions by evaluating the given alternatives, and then select the optimal alternative(s). As a useful linguistic expression model, linguistic preference orderings (LPOs) were established in which the order of alternatives and the relationships between two adjacent alternatives are fused well. Considering that prospect theory has the superiority in depicting risk attitudes (risk seeking for losses and risk aversion for gains) during the uncertain decision-making process, this paper develops a consensus model based on prospect theory to deal with MEDM problems with LPOs. Firstly, each LPO provided by expert is transformed into the responding DHLPR with complete consistency. Then, the reference point of expert is determined and the prospect preference matrix is established. Moreover, we can obtain the overall prospect consensus degree for a MEDM problem by calculating the similarity degree between individual and collective prospect preference matrix. Furthermore, a consensus improvement method is developed to complete the consensus reaching process. Finally, we apply the proposed method to deal with a practical MEDM problem involving the construction project investment, and make some comparative analyses with existing methods.National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) 71771155China Postdoctoral Science Foundation 2020M680151Sichuan Postdoctoral Science special FoundationSichuan University Postdoctoral Interdisciplinary Innovation Startup FoundationFundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities YJ202015European Union (EU) TIN2016-75850-RSichuan Province System Science and Enterprise Development Research Center Xq20B0

Bibliometric overview and retrospective analysis of fund performance research between 1966 and 2019

Fund performance has been a hot topic in the financial research area, fair and correct evaluation of fund performance is of great significance for fund investors and companies. However, most of the relevant publications do not have any retrospective analysis of this topic in terms of knowledge domain to show its development trends and research concerns. To address this issue, two effective bibliometric tools namely Citespace II (The 5.3.R4 Edition) and SciMat are used to analyze the knowledge domain of this field in this paper. We have analyzed 979 articles related to fund performance from Web of Science between 1966 and 2019 (July), the analysis content includes the current status, collaboration network, co-citation network, and emerging trends of fund performance research, then we have derived the following desired conclusions: (1) In the last twenty years, there was a significant increase in the publication and citation numbers of fund performance research; especially, the relative research has become interdisciplinary and internationalized. (2) “Mutual Fund Performance”, “Fund Return”, “Investment Performance”, and “Portfolio Selection” are the hottest topics in the fund performance research. (3) “Small Fund” and “Investor Reaction” are the two emerging trends in the fund performance research. To sum up, there are two main contributions in this paper: First, we provide a full bibliometric analysis about the fund performance research. Second, we make the further development of fund performance research easier and more clearly to show the directions to learn and study for beginners

Managing consensus by multi-stage optimization models with linguistic preference orderings and double hierarchy linguistic preferences

Preference ordering structures are useful and popular tools to represent experts’ preferences in the decision making process. In the existing preference orderings, they lack the research on the precise relationship between any two adjacent alternatives in the preference orderings, and the decision making methods are unreasonable. To overcome these issues, this paper establishes a novel concept of linguistic preference ordering (LPO) in which the ordering of alternatives and the relationships between two adjacent alternatives should be fused well, and develops two transformation models to transform each LPO into the corresponding double hierarchy linguistic preference relation with complete consistency. Additionally, to fully respect the experts’ expression habits and provide more refined solutions to experts, this paper establishes a multi-stage consensus optimization model by considering the suggested preferences represented in both the continuous scale and the discrete scale, and develops a multi-stage interactive consensus reaching algorithm to deal with multi-expert decision making problem with LPOs. Furthermore, some numerical examples are presented to illustrate the developed methods and models. Finally, some comparative analyses between the proposed methods and models and some existing methods have been made to show the advantages of the proposed methods and models. Separation of cellulose from agricultural straw is one of the key bottlenecks hindering the application of such kind of biomass resources. In this chapter, we provide three environmental-friendly ways for separation of cellulose from agricultural straw pretreated with steam explosion, which include delignification with recyclable water-polar aprotic organic solvent, selective bio-degradation of the lignin component, and extraction of cellulose with imidazolium-based ionic liquids from the steam-exploded rice straw. The isolated rice straw celluloses have been adopted as an enhancement for all-cellulose composites (ACCs) and cellulose/cement composites. Ultra-high tensile strength (650.2 MPa) can be achieved for the ACCs containing the activated straw cellulose fiber (A-SCF). The cellulose/cement composites show a significant promotion in the flexural strength and fracture toughness. The new nonderivative solvent for cellulose, tetrabutylammonium hydroxide (TBAH) aqueous solution with urea as additives has been proved to be manipulable for dissolving cellulose

Aberrant brain structural network and altered topological organization in minimal hepatic encephalopathy

PURPOSEWe aimed to investigate the multilevel impairments of brain structural network in patients with minimal hepatic encephalopathy (MHE).METHODSTwenty-two patients with MHE and 22 well-matched healthy controls (HC) underwent structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) brain scans and neuropsychological evaluations. Individual brain structural networks were constructed using diffusion tensor imaging. Comparing with HC, we investigated the possible impairments of brain structural network in MHE, by applying graph-theory approaches to analyze the topological organization at global, modular, and local levels. The correlations between altered brain structural network and neuropsychological tests scores and venous ammonia levels were also examined in MHE patients.RESULTSIn the MHE group, small-worldness showed significant decrease and normalized characteristic path length showed increase at the global level. In the modular section, six modules were identified. The inter-modular connective strengths showed significant increase between modules 2 and 4 and between modules 4 and 5. The results of node analysis showed similar hub distributions in the MHE and HC groups except for the right postcentral gyrus, which was only found in the MHE group. No significant differences were found in connective strength of edges between MHE and HC groups using network-based statistics.CONCLUSIONThe altered brain structural networks with reduced network integration and module segregation were demonstrated in patients with MHE. The dysconnectivity of brain structural network could provide an explanation for the brain dysfunctions of MHE

Purpose: To investigate the in vitro antioxidant, antibacterial and anti-tumor activities of total flavonoids from Elsholtzia densa Benth of Sichuan Province, China. Methods: The total flavonoids of Elsholtzia densa Bent were extracted utilizing the ultrasonic extraction method, and purified by D101 macroporous adsorption resin. An in vitro antioxidant test, 3-(4,5dimethyl-2-thiazolyl)-2,5-diphenyl-2-H-tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay and iCELLigence system were used to evaluate their antioxidant, antibacterial and anti-tumor activities. Results: The results showed that the total flavonoids exhibited good scavenging ability in hydroxyl radical (•OH), DPPH free radical (DPPH•), and super oxide anion radical (O2-•). Antioxidant activity was higher than for control (ascorbic acid). Their antibacterial activity was good with minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 2, 4 and 14 μg/mL against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis, respectively. Anti-proliferation data from the iCELLigence system studies showed that the total flavonoids significantly inhibited the growth of five types of cells, including a normal human hepatocytes cell line (L02), two human hepatocellular carcinoma cell line (SMMC-7721 and HepG-2), a human cervical cancer cell line (Hela) and a Baby Hamster Syrian Kidney cell line (BHK-21) (p < 0.05). AO/EB staining indicate that the total flavonoids might cause apoptosis of Hela cells. Conclusion: The results suggest that the total flavonoids from Elsholtzia densa Bent are potential natural antioxidants and antimicrobial agent, with anti-cancer properties. Background: Evidence about remdesivir-associated acute kidney injury (AKI) among patients with novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) was controversial. Aim: To investigate the signal of disproportionate reporting of remdesivir-related AKI in COVID-19 patients over time with data from US Food and Drug Administration Adverse Event Reporting System. Method: Adverse events in COVID-19 patients reported between April 2020 and September 2022 were included. Reporting odds ratios (RORs) of AKI and renal disorders (a more sensitive definition for AKI) were estimated to compare remdesivir with other medications prescribed in comparable situations of COVID-19. Results: During the entire study period, significant signals were identified for remdesivir-related AKI (ROR 2.00, 95% CI: 1.83–2.18) and renal disorder (ROR 2.35, 95% CI: 2.17–2.54) when compared to all comparable drugs. However, in the third quarter of 2022 (the most recent quarter) signals disappeared as the ROR of AKI was 1.50 (95% CI 0.91–2.45) and ROR of renal disorder was 1.69 (95% CI 1.06–2.70). Number of signals in sensitivity analyses and the proportion of AKI in remdesivir-associated events decreased over time. Conclusion: In COVID-19 patients, we observed diminishing signals of remdesivir-associated AKI over time and no significant signal in the most recent quarter, suggesting remdesivir might not be nephrotoxic. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG

Two 1,8-naphthyridine derivatives containing methylene, N-(5-methyl-7-((3-oxo-1,3-dihydroisobenzofuran-1-yl)methyl)-1,8-naphthyridin-2-yl)acetamide (L1) and 2-amino-3-((7-amino-4-methyl-1,8-naphthyridin-2-yl)methyl)isoindolin-1-one (L2), as well as a copper(I) complex CuI(L1)2 (C1) have been synthesized through a non-catalyst C(sp3)–H methylenation process and characterized. The structure of C1 has been determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. The spectroscopic properties have been investigated by experimental as well as theoretical studies for all these compounds. The two ligands exhibit similar electronic absorption spectra with λmax at about 340 nm, which can be tentatively assigned to πnaph→πnaph* transition. The electronic absorption spectra of C1 exhibits at ~335 nm except in n-hexane, which may be assigned tentatively to the intraligand charge transfer transition. The assignment is further supported by density functional theory calculations and cyclic voltammetry
