Robustness Analysis of Voltage Control Strategies of Smart Transformer

    Get PDF
The increasing penetration of Distributed Generators (DG) in the modern electric distribution network poses high priority on the problem of the stability. In this article the Harmonic Stability of a Smart Transformer-fed microgrid is investigated under different control strategies. The considered microgrid is composed by a Smart Transformer and three Distributed Generators, considering the bandwidth of the DGs unknown. The robustness is evaluated analysing the eigenvalues as a consequence of a variation of the DGs bandwidth. The system is modelled as a Multi Input Multi Output System (MIMO); the eigenvalue based analysis is carried out to assess the stability and compare the robustness of the traditional double-loop PI and a state-feedback (SF) integral controller. The results show that the SF controller ensures a higher robustness than the traditional PI controller with respect to increasing bandwidths of the DGs

An Optimal NARX Neural Network Identification Model for a Magnetorheological Damper With Force-Distortion Behavior

    Get PDF
This paper presents an optimal NARX neural network identification model for a magnetorheological (MR) damper with the force-distortion behavior. An intensive experimental study is conducted for designing the NARX network architecture to enhance modeling accuracy and availability, and the activation function selection, weights, and biases of the selected network are optimized by differential evolution algorithm. Different experimental training and validation samples are used for network training. The prediction capability of the optimal NARX model is verified by new measured test data. The test and comparative results show that the optimal NARX network model can satisfactorily emulate the dynamic behavior of MR damper and effectively capture its distortion behavior occurred with the increased current. The developed inverse NARX network model can effectively estimate the required current and track desired damping force. Moreover, the effects of different noise disturbance on the NARX network model performance are analyzed, and the model error varies slightly with a small noise disturbance. The accuracy of the results supports the use of this modeling technique for identifying irregular non-linear models of MR damper and similar devices

RGBT Tracking via Progressive Fusion Transformer with Dynamically Guided Learning

Existing Transformer-based RGBT tracking methods either use cross-attention to fuse the two modalities, or use self-attention and cross-attention to model both modality-specific and modality-sharing information. However, the significant appearance gap between modalities limits the feature representation ability of certain modalities during the fusion process. To address this problem, we propose a novel Progressive Fusion Transformer called ProFormer, which progressively integrates single-modality information into the multimodal representation for robust RGBT tracking. In particular, ProFormer first uses a self-attention module to collaboratively extract the multimodal representation, and then uses two cross-attention modules to interact it with the features of the dual modalities respectively. In this way, the modality-specific information can well be activated in the multimodal representation. Finally, a feed-forward network is used to fuse two interacted multimodal representations for the further enhancement of the final multimodal representation. In addition, existing learning methods of RGBT trackers either fuse multimodal features into one for final classification, or exploit the relationship between unimodal branches and fused branch through a competitive learning strategy. However, they either ignore the learning of single-modality branches or result in one branch failing to be well optimized. To solve these problems, we propose a dynamically guided learning algorithm that adaptively uses well-performing branches to guide the learning of other branches, for enhancing the representation ability of each branch. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our proposed ProFormer sets a new state-of-the-art performance on RGBT210, RGBT234, LasHeR, and VTUAV datasets.Comment: 13 pages, 9 figure

LIP5, a MVB biogenesis regulator, is required for rice growth

    Get PDF
LYST-INTERACTING PROTEIN5 (LIP5) is a conserved regulator of multivesicular body (MVB) biogenesis in eukaryotes. In Arabidopsis, AtLIP5 is a target of stress-responsive MITOGEN-ACTIVATED PROTEIN KINASE3 and 6 and mediates stress-induced MVB biogenesis to promote stress responses. However, Arabidopsis atlip5 knockout mutants are normal in growth and development. Here we report that rice OsLIP5 gene could fully restore both the disease resistance and salt tolerance of the Arabidopsis oslip5 mutant plants to the wild-type levels. Unlike Arabidopsis atlip5 mutants, rice oslip5 mutants were severely stunted, developed necrotic lesions and all died before flowering. Unlike in Arabidopsis, LIP5 regulated endocytosis under both stress and normal conditions in rice. These findings indicate that there is strong evolutionary divergence among different plants in the role of the conserved LIP5-regulated MVB pathway in normal plant growth

Effect of superabsorbent polymer on mechanical properties of cement stabilized base and its mechanism

Superabsorbent polymers (SAPs) are cross-linked polymers that can absorb and retain large amounts of water. In recent years, a growing interest was seen in applying SAPs in concrete to improve its performance due to its efficiency in mitigating shrinkage. This paper presents findings in a study on effect of SAPs on performance of cement-treated base (CTB), using the experience of internal curing of concrete. CTB specimens with and without SAPs were prepared and tested in the laboratory. Tests conducted include mechanical property testing, dry shrinkage testing, differential thermal analysis, mercury intrusion porosimetry and scanning electron microscope testing. It was found that 7-day and 28-day unconfined compressive strength of CTB specimens with SAPs was higher than regular CTB specimens. 28d compressive strength of CTB specimens with SAPs made by Static pressure method was 5.87 MPa, which is 27% higher than that of regular CTB specimens. Drying shrinkage of CTB specimens with SAPs was decreased by 52.5% comparing with regular CTB specimens. Through the microstructure analysis it was found that CTB specimens with SAPs could produce more hydration products, which is also the reason for the strength improvement

At the same time, with the advent of the Industry 4.0 era, Manufacturing Execution System (MES) systems began to evolve into cloud MES systems. In this paper, a RFID-based manufacturing process for cloud MES is proposed and a framework manufacturing process fora cloud MES system centered on machine tools is constructed. The process division of the manufacturing process, RFID configuration and cloud processing are analyzed, and other key technologies involved in implementing the framework are briefly discussed. Finally, the effectiveness of a RFID-based manufacturing process of cloud MES is verified by two different types of case analysis namely photovoltaic slice production and garment outsourcing processing

Enhanced superconductivity and electron correlations in intercalated ZrTe3

    Get PDF
Charge density waves (CDWs) with superconductivity, competing Fermi surface instabilities, and collective orders have captured much interest in two-dimensional van der Waals (vdW) materials. Understanding the CDW suppression mechanism, its connection to the emerging superconducting state, and electronic correlations provides opportunities for engineering the electronic properties of vdW heterostructures and thin-film devices. Using a combination of the thermal transport, x-ray photoemission spectroscopy, Raman measurements, and first-principles calculations, we observe an increase in electronic correlations of the conducting states as the CDW is suppressed in ZrTe3 with 5% Cu and Ni intercalation in the vdW gap. As superconductivity emerges, intercalation brings not only decoupling of quasi-one-dimensional conduction electrons with phonons as a consequence of intercalation-induced lattice expansion but also a drastic increase in Zr2+ at the expense of Zr4+ metal atoms. These observations not only demonstrate the potential of atomic intercalates in the vdW gap for ground-state tuning but also illustrate the crucial role of the Zr metal valence in the formation of collective electronic orders

Effects of dietary supplementation with Lactobacillus acidophilus on the performance, intestinal physical barrier function, and the expression of NOD-like receptors in weaned piglets

Lactobacillus supplementation is beneficial to the barrier function of the intestinal physical barrier in piglets. However, the mechanisms underlying this beneficial function remain largely unknown. Here, we investigated the effects of dietary supplementation with Lactobacillus acidophilus on the performance, intestinal physical barrier functioning, and NOD-like receptors (NLRs) expression in weaned piglets. Sixteen weaned piglets were randomly allocated to two groups. The control group received a corn-soybean basal diet, while the treatment group received the same diet adding 0.1% L. acidophilus, for 14 days. As a result, dietary L. acidophilus supplementation was found to increase the average daily gain (ADG) (P < 0.05), reduced serum diamine oxidase (DAO) activity (P < 0.05), increased the mRNA expression and protein abundance of occludin in the jejunum and ileum (P < 0.01), reduced the mRNA levels of NOD1 (P < 0.01), receptor interacting serine/threonine kinase 2 (RIPK2) (P < 0.05), nuclear factor κB (NF-κB) (P < 0.01), NLR family pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3) (P < 0.01), caspase-1 (P < 0.01), interleukin 1β (IL-1β) (P < 0.05) and IL-18 (P < 0.01) in the jejunum tissues of the weaned pigs. The expression of NLRP3 (P < 0.05), caspase-1 (P < 0.01), IL-1β (P < 0.05) and IL-18 (P < 0.05) was also reduced in the ileum tissues of the weaned pigs. These results showed that L. acidophilus supplementation improves the growth performance, enhances the intestinal physical barrier function, and inhibits the expression of NOD1 and NLRP3 signaling-pathway-related genes in jejunum and ileum tissues. They also suggest that L. acidophilus enhances the intestinal physical barrier functioning by inhibiting IL-1β and IL-18 pro-inflammatory cytokines via the NOD1/NLRP3 signaling pathway in weaned piglets
