Electroweak chiral Lagrangian for left–right symmetric models: The matter sector

    Get PDF
AbstractThe matter sector of electroweak chiral Lagrangian up to dimension four operators for left–right symmetric models with a neutral light Higgs is provided. The connection of these operators to Yukawa couplings, anomalous gauge couplings and parameters in the matter sector of conventional electroweak chiral Lagrangian is made. It is shown that there exists proper parameter space to loosen constraint for the mass of right handed gauge boson from the mass difference of neutral K meson

Purpose: To explore the effect of autoimmune response on the decreased cardiac function in patients with rheumatic mitral lesion following valve replacement. Methods: In this case-controlled study, 29 patients who had undergone valve replacement as a result of mitral lesion were enrolled (mean age = 48.7 years). Twenty healthy volunteers were selected as control (mean age = 47.5 years). Plasma levels of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6), high –sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) and echocardiographic indices of heart function in the two groups were investigated, respectively. Body mass index (BMI) was also calculated. Results: TNF-α, IL-6 and hs-CRP levels in plasma were significantly higher than those in controls (p < 0.05; 22.23 pg/mL vs. 13.24 pg/mL, 53.42 pg/mL vs. 9.57 pg/mL, and 2.12 μg/mL vs. 0.97 μg/mL, respectively). The indices of left atrial diameter (LAD), left ventricular end-diastolic diameter (LDD) and isovolumetric contraction time (ICT) were significantly higher (p < 0.05; 4.72 cm vs. 3.78 cm, 4.85 cm vs. 4.37 cm, and 76.38 ms vs. 66.24 ms, respectively), but those of early diastolic velocity (Ea), late diastolic velocities (Aa) and ejection time (ET) were significantly lower (p < 0.05; 7.65 cm/s vs. 16.8 cm/s, 5.56 cm/s vs. 12.9 cm/s, and 261.54 ms vs. 276.14 ms, respectively). Two-dimensional echocardiography obtained the same results. Conclusion: Valve replacement in patients with rheumatic heart disease (RHD) does not attenuate inflammatory response; rather, autoimmune response would keep affecting decreased heart function in RHD patients who have received mitral valve replacement. Keywords: Tumor necrosis factor-α, Interleukin-6, High sensitivity C reactive protein, Mitral lesion, Mitral valve replacemen

The complete list of electroweak chiral Lagrangian for W', Z' and a neutral light higgs with symmetry SU(2)1⊗SU(2)2⊗U(1)SU(2)_1\otimes SU(2)_2\otimes U(1) is provided. The bosonic part is accurate up to order of p4p^4, the matter part involving various fermions representation arrangements includes dimension three Yukawa type and dimension four gauge type operators. The universal mixings and masses of gauge boson and fermion are given. Constraints from mass differences for K0−Kˉ0K^0-\bar{K}^0, Bd0−Bˉd0B_d^0-\bar{B}_{d}^0, Bs0−Bˉs0B_s^0-\bar{B}_{s}^0 systems and indirect CP violation parameter ∣ϵK∣|\epsilon_K| for KK mesons are evaluated.Comment: 40 pages, 8figure

Two-tiered mutualism improves survival and competitiveness of cross-feeding soil bacteria.

Metabolic cross-feeding is a pervasive microbial interaction type that affects community stability and functioning and directs carbon and energy flows. The mechanisms that underlie these interactions and their association with metal/metalloid biogeochemistry, however, remain poorly understood. Here, we identified two soil bacteria, Bacillus sp. BP-3 and Delftia sp. DT-2, that engage in a two-tiered mutualism. Strain BP-3 has low utilization ability of pyruvic acid while strain DT-2 lacks hexokinase, lacks a phosphotransferase system, and is defective in glucose utilization. When strain BP-3 is grown in isolation with glucose, it releases pyruvic acid to the environment resulting in acidification and eventual self-killing. However, when strain BP-3 is grown together with strain DT-2, strain DT-2 utilizes the released pyruvic acid to meet its energy requirements, consequently rescuing strain BP-3 from pyruvic acid-induced growth inhibition. The two bacteria further enhance their collective competitiveness against other microbes by using arsenic as a weapon. Strain DT-2 reduces relatively non-toxic methylarsenate [MAs(V)] to highly toxic methylarsenite [MAs(III)], which kills or suppresses competitors, while strain BP-3 detoxifies MAs(III) by methylation to non-toxic dimethylarsenate [DMAs(V)]. These two arsenic transformations are enhanced when strains DT-2 and BP-3 are grown together. The two strains, along with their close relatives, widely co-occur in soils and their abundances increase with the soil arsenic concentration. Our results reveal that these bacterial types employ a two-tiered mutualism to ensure their collective metabolic activity and maintain their ecological competitive against other soil microbes. These findings shed light on the intricateness of bacterial interactions and their roles in ecosystem functioning

Experimental study of THGEM detector with mini-rim

The gas gain and energy resolution of single and double THGEM detectors (5{\times}5cm2 effective area) with mini-rims (rim is less than 10{\mu}m) were studied. The maximum gain can reach 5{\times}103 and 2{\times}105 for single and double THGEM respectively, while the energy resolution of 5.9 keV X-ray varied from 18% to 28% for both single and double THGEM detectors of different hole sizes and thicknesses. All the experiments were investigated in mixture of noble gases(argon, neon) and small content of other gases(iso-butane,methane) at atmospheric pressure.Comment: 4pages,6figures, it has been submitted to Chinese Physics
