The discrete contribution to ψJ/ψ+γγ\psi^{\prime}\to J/\psi+\gamma\gamma

The decay mode ψ(2S)J/ψ+γγ\psi(2S)\to J/\psi+\gamma\gamma is proposed in order to experimentally identify the effects of the coupling of charmonium states to the continuum DDˉD\bar D states. To have a better understanding of such a two-photon decay process, in this work we restrict ourselves to investigate the contribution of the discrete part, in which the photons are mainly produced via the intermediate states χcJ(nP)\chi_{cJ}(nP). Besides calculating the resonance contributions of χcJ(1P)  (J=0,1,2)\chi_{cJ}(1P)\; (J=0,1,2), we also take into account the contributions of the higher excited states χcJ(2P)\chi_{cJ}(2P) and the interference effect among the 1P and 2P states. We find that the contribution of the 2P states and the interference terms to the total decay width is very tiny. However, for specific regions of the Dalitz plot, off the resonance peaks, we find that these contributions are sizable and should also be accounted for. We also provide the photon spectrum and study the polarization of J/ψJ/\psi.Comment: 19 pages, 5 figures, minor changes, references added, accepted version in PR

Spectroscopic study of light scattering in linear alkylbenzene for liquid scintillator neutrino detectors

    Get PDF
We has set up a light scattering spectrometer to study the depolarization of light scattering in linear alkylbenzene. From the scattering spectra it can be unambiguously shown that the depolarized part of light scattering belongs to Rayleigh scattering. The additional depolarized Rayleigh scattering can make the effective transparency of linear alkylbenzene much better than it was expected. Therefore sufficient scintillation photons can transmit through the large liquid scintillator detector of JUNO. Our study is crucial to achieving the unprecedented energy resolution 3\%/E(MeV)\sqrt{E\mathrm{(MeV)}} for JUNO experiment to determine the neutrino mass hierarchy. The spectroscopic method can also be used to judge the attribution of the depolarization of other organic solvents used in neutrino experiments.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figure

EtabFDC: an ηb\eta_b event generator in hadroproduction at LHC

The EtabFDC is a matrix-element event generator package for ηb\eta_b hadroproduction at LHC. It generates ppηbXpp\to\eta_b X events for all possible parton-level 222\to2 leading-order processes with three commonly used ηb\eta_b decay channels being implemented. The \pythia interface is used for parton-shower and hadronization to obtain the hadronic events. The FORTRAN codes of this package are generated by FDC (Feynman Diagram Calculation) system automatically.Comment: 23 pages, 6 figure

Letter of Intent: Jinping Neutrino Experiment

Jinping Neutrino Experiment (Jinping) is proposed to significantly improve measurements on solar neutrinos and geoneutrinos in China Jinping Laboratory - a lab with a number of unparalleled features, thickest overburden, lowest reactor neutrino background, etc., which identify it as the world-best low-energy neutrino laboratory. The proposed experiment will have target mass of 4 kilotons of liquid scintillator or water-based liquid scintillator, with a fiducial mass of 2 kilotons for neutrino-electron scattering events and 3 kilotons for inverse-beta interaction events. A number of initial sensitivities studies have been carried out, including on the transition phase for the solar neutrinos oscillation from the vacuum to the matter effect, the discovery of solar neutrinos from the carbon-nitrogen-oxygen (CNO) cycle, the resolution of the high and low metallicity hypotheses, and the unambiguous separation on U and Th cascade decays from the dominant crustal anti-electron neutrinos in China.Comment: Proposal for the Jinping Neutrino Experimen
