A Model of Customer Lifetime Value Consider with Word-of-mouth Marketing Value

    Get PDF
With the rapid development of IT technology and fierce competition of market, the customer relationship management(CRM) has gained its importance in the market. Companies have attached importance to acquiring and retaining the most profitable customers. So calculating customer’s value is a significant segment for every effective CRM. Many researches have been performed to calculate customer’s value based on customer lifetime value (LTV). But, these calculations can’t effectively include the whole customer value, especially for the word-of-mouth marketing value. This paper proposes a new LTV model which considers the customer’s past profit contribution, potential value and word-of-mouth marketing value, and gives a more reasonable LTV value in CRM for the company to make a decision

Purpose: To investigate the influence of edaravone on cognitive impairment and hippocampal injury in juvenile rats with obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS), and the mechanism involved. Methods: Fifty-four young Wistar rats were randomly selected into control, intermittent hypoxia and edaravone groups. The contents of the antioxidants CAT, Mn-SOD, Cu/Zn SOD and oxidative stress products malondialdehyde (MDA) in hippocampus were assayed and compared. The expressions of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), Bcl-2, CREB, p-CREB and PKAc were determined. Results: The times taken to cross the target quadrant and the platform; levels of CAT and Mn-SOD, as well as protein levels of BNDF, Bcl-2, p-CREB and PKAc were markedly lower in intermittent hypoxia group than in controls; and MDA contents, 8-OHdG and protein hydroxyl were markedly higher in intermittent hypoxic rats group than in controls. Time taken to cross the platform and quadrant; activities of CAT and Mn-SOD, and protein concentrations of BDNF, Bcl-2, p-CREB and PKAc were markedly higher in the edaravone-treated rats than in intermittent hypoxia rats. Conclusion: Edaravone significantly mitigated cognitive damage and hippocampal lesions in OSAHS rats via a mechanism related to alleviation of oxidative stress and up-regulation of the expressions of p-CREB and its downstream proteins BDNF and Bcl-2. This finding provides a theoretical basis for research and development of new drugs against OSAHS

Recently, I. Mosyagin, A.V. Lugovskoy, O.M. Krasilnikov, Yu.Kh. Vekilov, S.I. Simak and I.A. Abrikosov in the paper: "Ab initio calculations of pressure-dependence of high-order elastic constants using finite deformations approach"[Computer Physics Communications 220 (2017) 2030] presented a description of a technique for ab initio calculations of the pressure dependence of second- and third-order elastic constants. Unfortunately, the work contains serious and fundamental flaws in the field of finite-deformation solid mechanics.Comment: 3 pages, 0 figure

A novel nanoparticle drug delivery system based on PEGylated hemoglobin for cancer therapy

Proteins such as albumin, gelatin, casein, transferrin, and collagen are widely used as drug delivery systems. However, only albumin-based paclitaxel (PTX) formulation AbraxaneVR (PTX-albumin NPs prepared by nab-technology) has been successfully developed for treating metastatic breast cancer clinically due to abundant materials, simple industrial scale-up process, and well tumor-targeting ability. Hemoglobin (Hb) is another protein used for drug delivery with similar advantages. In this study, we successfully synthesized PEG-Hb nanoparticles loading with PTX based on previously well-established acid-denatured method. PEG-Hb-PTX NPs showed enhanced cellular uptake and great cellular inhibition ability in vitro. Moreover, our animal study showed that PEGylated NPs greatly accumulated in tumor tissues and exhibited excellent anticancer activity in vivo. We found that PEG-Hb-PTX NPs possess a better in vivo antitumor effect than the commercially available TaxolVR formulation. We believe that PEG-Hb has great potential as an efficient drug delivery system for further clinic study

Vitamin B2 enhances development of puberty ovaries via regulation of essential elements and plasma endocrine hormones

Purpose: To investigate the effect of vitamin B2 (VB2) on ovarian development during puberty. Methods: Four groups of domestic hens (Jinghong-1 strain, 12 hens/group) were housed under standard conditions and fed basal diet with or without graded doses of VB2 (10 – 40 mg/kg). At 10 weeks old, 9 hens were sacrificed from each group. Plasma levels of AST, ALT, steroid hormones and growth hormones were determined. In addition, some essential mineral elements in the ovarian tissue of the hens were assayed. Results: Treatment with VB2 significantly improved ovary and liver organ indices (p < 0.01), but had no deleterious effect on the liver. The different doses of VB2 exerted regulatory effects on homeostasis of essential elements in the ovary (p < 0.01). Moreover, VB2 treatment elevated plasma levels of progesterone (PR) and estrogen (ES), suggesting that it might regulate steroid hormone levels. Conclusion: These results indicate that VB2 enhances the development of the ovaries during puberty. Keywords: Domestic hen, Ovarian development, Vitamin B2, Steroid hormones, Mineral element

Neurotoxicity of nanoparticles : insight from studies in zebrafish

    Get PDF
Nanoparticles are widely used in industry and personal care, and they inevitably end up in people's bodies and the environment. The widespread use of nanoparticles has raised new concerns about their neurotoxicity, as nanoparticles can enter the nervous system by blood-brain barrier. In neurotoxicity testing, the zebrafish provides powerful tools to overcome the limitations of other models. This paper will provide a comprehensive review of the power of zebrafish in neurotoxicity tests and the neurotoxic effects of nanoparticles, including inorganic, organic, and metal-based nanoparticles, on zebrafish from different perspectives. Such information can be used to predict not only the effects of nanoparticles on other species exposed to the aquatic environment but also the neurotoxicity of nanoparticles in humans

Docetaxel-loaded M1 macrophage-derived exosomes for a safe and efficient chemoimmunotherapy of breast cancer

The conversion of tumor-promoting M2 macrophage phenotype to tumor-suppressing M1 macrophages is a promising therapeutic approach for cancer treatment. However, the tumor normally provides an abundance of M2 macrophage stimuli, which creates an M2 macrophage-dominant immunosuppressive microenvironment. In our study, docetaxel (DTX) as chemotherapeutic modularity was loaded into M1 macrophage-derived exosomes (M1-Exo) with M1 proinflammatory nature to establish DTX-M1-Exo drug delivery system. We found that DTX-M1-Exo induced naïve M0 macrophages to polarize to M1 phenotype, while failed to repolarize to M2 macrophages upon Interleukin 4 restimulation due to impaired mitochondrial function. This suggests that DTX-M1-Exo can achieve long-term robust M1 activation in immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment. The in vivo results further confirmed that DTX-M1-Exo has a beneficial effect on macrophage infiltration and activation in the tumor tissues. Thus, DTX-M1-Exo is a novel macrophage polarization strategy via combined chemotherapy and immunotherapy to achieve great antitumor therapeutic efficacy
