On Landis Conjecture for the Fractional Schr\"{o}dinger Equation

In this paper, we study a Landis-type conjecture for the general fractional Schr\"{o}dinger equation ((P)s+q)u=0((-P)^{s}+q)u=0. As a byproduct, we also proved the additivity and boundedness of the linear operator (P)s(-P)^{s} for non-smooth coefficents. For differentiable potentials qq, if a solution decays at a rate exp(x1+)\exp(-|x|^{1+}), then the solution vanishes identically. For non-differentiable potentials qq, if a solution decays at a rate exp(x4s4s1+)\exp(-|x|^{\frac{4s}{4s-1}+}), then the solution must again be trivial. The proof relies on delicate Carleman estimates. This study is an extension of the work by R\"{u}land-Wang (2019).Comment: 44 page

The Factors That Influenced Ezra Pound’s Translation and Introduction of Chinese Culture

As a leading figure of Imagism in the early 20th century, Ezra Pound advocated guiding principles for the American New Poetry. It is quite well known that Ezra Pound was greatly influenced by Chinese culture. It is not only shown in Pound’s Cathy which consists of nineteen Chinese poems, but also proved by Pound’s introduction of Chinese Confucianism in his epic writing “Cantos”. The article aims at clarifying the factors that influenced Pound’s translation and introduction of Chinese culture in the light of aesthetics of reception and polysystem theory. The first part of the paper focuses on a brief introduction of the above theories. The second part mainly deals with the two factors exerting on Pound’s translation and introduction of Chinese culture: one is, Chinese poems represents “a new form of literature” that Pound has been seeking for a long time, that is to say, ancient Chinese poetry satisfied his expectations. The other is Ezra Pound purposed to utilize Chinese Confucian as a model for solving social problems in the chaotic, disintegrating western world

DTER: Schedule Optimal RF Energy Request and Harvest for Internet of Things

We propose a new energy harvesting strategy that uses a dedicated energy source (ES) to optimally replenish energy for radio frequency (RF) energy harvesting powered Internet of Things. Specifically, we develop a two-step dual tunnel energy requesting (DTER) strategy that minimizes the energy consumption on both the energy harvesting device and the ES. Besides the causality and capacity constraints that are investigated in the existing approaches, DTER also takes into account the overhead issue and the nonlinear charge characteristics of an energy storage component to make the proposed strategy practical. Both offline and online scenarios are considered in the second step of DTER. To solve the nonlinear optimization problem of the offline scenario, we convert the design of offline optimal energy requesting problem into a classic shortest path problem and thus a global optimal solution can be obtained through dynamic programming (DP) algorithms. The online suboptimal transmission strategy is developed as well. Simulation study verifies that the online strategy can achieve almost the same energy efficiency as the global optimal solution in the long term

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to understand the value creation mechanisms of open-standard inter-organizational information system (OSIOS), which is a key technology to achieve Industry 4.0. Specifically, this study investigates how the internal assimilation and external diffusion of OSIOS help manufactures facilitate process adaptability and alignment in supply chain network.Design/methodology/approachA survey instrument was designed and administrated to collect data for this research. Using three-stage least squares estimation, the authors empirically tested a number of hypothesized relationships based on a sample of 308 manufacturing firms in China.FindingsThe results of the study show that OSIOS can perform as value creation mechanisms to enable process adaptability and alignment. In addition, the impact of OSIOS internal assimilation is inversely U-shaped where the positive effect on process adaptability will become negative after an extremum point is reached.Originality/valueThis study contributes to the existing literature by providing insights on how OSIOS can improve supply chain integration and thus promote the achievement of industry 4.0. By revealing a U-shaped relationship between OSIOS assimilation and process adaptability, this study fills previous research gap by advancing the understanding on the value creation mechanisms of information systems deployment
