    Molecular Evolution of GDP-D-Mannose Epimerase (GME), a Key Gene in Plant Ascorbic Acid Biosynthesis

    The widespread ascorbic acid (AsA) plays a vital role in plant development and abiotic stress tolerance, but AsA concentration varies greatly among different plants. GDP-D-mannose epimerase (GME), which catalyzes GDP-D-mannose to GDP-L-galactose or GDP-L-gulose, is a key enzyme in plant AsA biosynthesis pathway. Functions and expression patterns of GME have been well studied in previous works, however, little information is known about the evolutionary patterns of the gene. In this study, GME gene structure, corresponding conserved protein motifs and evolutionary relationships were systematically analyzed. A total of 111 GME gene sequences were retrieved from 59 plant genomes, which representing almost all the major lineages of Viridiplantae: dicotyledons, monocotyledons, gymnosperms, pteridophytes, bryophytes, and chlorophytes. Results showed that homologs of GME were widely present in Viridiplantae. GME gene structures were conservative in higher plants, while varied greatly in the basal subgroups of the phylogeny including lycophytes, bryophytes, and chlorophytes, suggesting GME gene structure might have undergone severe differentiation at lower plant and then gradually fixed as plant evolution. The basic motifs of GME were strongly conserved throughout Viridiplantae, suggesting the conserved function of the protein. Molecular evolution analysis showed that strong purifying selection was the predominant force in the evolution of GME. A few branches and sites under episodic diversifying selection were identified and most of the branches located in the subgroup of chlorphytes, indicating episodic diversifying selection at a few branches and sites may play a role in the evolution of GME and diversifying selection may have occurred at the early stage of Viridiplantae.     A broadcast encryption scheme with personalized messages (BEPM) is a scheme in which a broadcaster transmits not only encrypted broadcast messages to a subset of recipients but also encrypted personalized messages to each user individually. Several broadcast encryption (BE) schemes allow a broadcaster encrypts a message for a subset S of recipients with public keys and any user in S can decrypt the message with his/her private key. However, these BE schemes can not provide an efficient way to transmit encrypted personalized messages to each user individually. In this paper, we propose a broadcast encryption scheme with a transmission of personalized messages. Besides, the scheme is based on multilinear maps ensure constant ciphertext size and private key size of each user and the scheme can achieve statically security. More realistically, the scheme can be applied to the Conditional Access System (CAS) of pay television (pay-TV) efficiently and safely

    Abstract Auto-regressive (AR) spectral estimation technology is proposed to analyze the Brillouin scattering spectrum in Brillouin optical time-domain refelectometry. It shows that AR based method can reliably estimate the Brillouin frequency shift with an accuracy much better than fast Fourier transform (FFT) based methods provided the data length is not too short. It enables about 3 times improvement over FFT at a moderate spatial resolution

    Screening of insecticides against the mulberry fruit gall midge

    In recent years, a kind of mulberry pests which were known as the mulberry gall midge Cotarina sp. in different mulberry planting areas occurred popularly in China. This study aims to screening high efficacy and low toxicity insecticides for controlling Cotarina sp.. The current study can help understand integrated pest management (IPM) of Cotarina sp. by scientific and reasonable insecticide use. Field experiment was carried out to investigate eight insecticides, treated with 3 concentration gradients. The result shows that Imidacloprid, Thiamethoxam, Cyromazine, Bifenthrin and Cypermethrin路Profenofos had high control effect on the mulberry gall midge.Their pesticide residues were all less than Chinese Standard GB2763-2016, which means that they were feasible to control this pest. This paper shows that, to control Cotarina sp. in fruit mulberry production, 10% Imidacloprid WP with 2000~3000 dilution and 25% Thiamethoxam WDG with 1500~2500 dilution and 80% Cyromazine WDG with 1500~2000 dilution are the best. 2.5% Bifenthrin EW with 1000~1500 dilution and 440g/l Cypermethrin路Profenofos EC with 1000~2000 dilution should be used by selection. However, Bifenthrin or Cypermethrin路Profenofos cannot be used in mulberry field for both fruits and leaves, so as to avoid causing silkworm poisoning

    Effects of Soil Types and Moisture Contents on Emergence Rate of Contarinia morulae Jiang

    In order to explore the relationship between soil moisture content and the severity of occurrence of Contarinia morulae Jiang, the effects of different soil types and moisture contents on the emergence rate of C. morulae were investigated. The results showed that soil moisture contents had a significant effect on the emergence rate of C. morulae. When the soil moisture content was 10%, the emergence rate of C. morulae was the highest in both soil types. When the soil moisture content was too high or too low, the emergence rate of C. morulae was significantly reduced. Within the suitable water content range, the emergence rate of C. morulae in sandy soil was significantly higher than that in sandy loam soil. The trend of emergence of C. morulae in the two soil types was basically the same. The number of adults of C. morulae began to increase slowly on March 18, peaked on March 28 and then peaked again on early April
