A Reconfigurable Platform For Cognitive Radio
TodayÂżs rigid spectrum allocation scheme creates a spectrum scarcity problem for future wireless communications. Measurements show that a wide range of the allocated frequency bands are rarely used. Cognitive radio is a novel approach to improve the spectrum usage, which is able to sense the spectrum and adapt its transmission while coexisting with the licensed spectrum user. A reconfigurable radio platform is required to provide enough adaptivity for cognitive radio. In this paper, we propose a cognitive radio system architecture and discuss its possible implementation on a heterogeneous reconfigurable radio platform
A Tensor-Based Forensics Framework for Virtualized Network Functions in the Internet of Things: Utilizing Tensor Algebra in Facilitating More Efficient Network Forensic Investigations
With the ever-increasing network traffic and Internet connectivity of smart devices, more attack events are being reported. As a result, network forensics remains a topic of ongoing research interest in the Internet of Things (IoT). In this article, we present a novel tensor-based forensics approach for virtualized network functions (VNFs). An event tensor model is proposed to formalize the network events, and then, it is used for effectively updating the core event tensor. We then introduce a similarity tensor model to integrate the core event tensors on the orchestration and management layer in the network function virtualization (NFV) framework. Finally, we present an evidence tensor model for network forensics, where we demonstrate how evidence tensors can be merged

Spin tunnelling in mesoscopic systems
We study spin tunnelling in molecular magnets as an instance of a mesoscopic
phenomenon, with special emphasis on the molecule Fe8. We show that the tunnel
splitting between various pairs of Zeeman levels in this molecule oscillates as
a function of applied magnetic field, vanishing completely at special points in
the space of magnetic fields, known as diabolical points. This phenomena is
explained in terms of two approaches, one based on spin-coherent-state path
integrals, and the other on a generalization of the phase integral (or WKB)
method to difference equations. Explicit formulas for the diabolical points are

Asian emissions in 2006 for the NASA INTEX-B mission
A new inventory of air pollutant emissions in Asia in the year 2006 is developed to support the Intercontinental Chemical Transport Experiment-Phase B (INTEX-B) funded by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Emissions are estimated for all major anthropogenic sources, excluding biomass burning. We estimate total Asian anthropogenic emissions in the year 2006 as follows: 47.1 Tg SO2, 36.7 Tg NOx, 298.2 Tg CO, 54.6 Tg NMVOC, 29.2 Tg PM10, 22.2 Tg PM2.5, 2.97 Tg BC, and 6.57 Tg OC. We emphasize emissions from China because they dominate the Asia pollutant outflow to the Pacific and the increase of emissions from China since 2000 is of great concern. We have implemented a series of improved methodologies to gain a better understanding of emissions from China, including a detailed technology-based approach, a dynamic methodology representing rapid technology renewal, critical examination of energy statistics, and a new scheme of NMVOC speciation for model-ready emissions. We estimate China's anthropogenic emissions in the year 2006 to be as follows: 31.0 Tg SO2, 20.8 Tg NOx, 166.9 Tg CO, 23.2 Tg NMVOC, 18.2 Tg PM10, 13.3 Tg PM2.5, 1.8 Tg BC, and 3.2 Tg OC. We have also estimated 2001 emissions for China using the same methodology and found that all species show an increasing trend during 2001-2006: 36% increase for SO2, 55% for NOx, 18% for CO, 29% for VOC, 13% for PM10, and 14% for PM2.5, BC, and OC. Concerning Order and Disorder in the Ensemble of Cu-O Chain Fragments in Oxygen Deficient Planes of Y-Ba-Cu-O
In connection with numerous X-ray and neutron investigations of some high
temperature superconductors (YBaCuO and related compounds) a
non-trivial part of the structure factor, coming from partly disordered
Cu-O--O-Cu chain fragments, situated within basal planes, CuO, can
be a subject of theoretical interest. Closely connected to such a diffusive
part of the structure factor are the correlation lengths, which are also
available in neutron and X-ray diffraction studies and depend on a degree of
oxygen disorder in a basal plane. The quantitative measure of such a disorder
can be associated with temperature of a sample anneal, , at which oxygen
in a basal plane remains frozen-in high temperature equilibrium after a fast
quench of a sample to room or lower temperature. The structure factor evolution
with is vizualized in figures after the numerical calculations. The
theoretical approach employed in the paper has been developed for the
