    Facebook used as an active marketing channel to expand customer base at a restaurant

    The selected restaurant provides Cantonese style Chinese food. However, there has been a significant decrease in customers after opening day. The owner spent on newspaper promotion before opening day. The reality is that only a few people came. Therefore, the owner is looking for advice on the way of increasing his customer base and awareness. The project aims to demonstrate the value of using Facebook as a marketing channel to help a new Chinese restaurant promote itself to the public to increase profit and its customer base. The project gathered a total of 93 questionnaires and one interview by using mixed methods (quantitative and qualitative), followed by a theoretical review to show the owner that Facebook is the most effective channel to increase customer base and awareness. The results show that more than 95% of participants have social media and almost 92% of them have Facebook. 80% of participants agree that the restaurant should have a Facebook account so they can receive promotion and news. In conclusion, Facebook is the most effective and efficient channel to help the business get more attention from the public under the situation

    Status of the Zee-Babu model for neutrino mass and possible tests at a like-sign linear collider

    We provide an updated scan of the allowed parameter space of the two-loop Zee-Babu model for neutrino mass. Taking into account most recent experimental data on μeγ\mu\to e\gamma as well as the mixing angle θ13\theta_{13} we obtain lower bounds on the masses of the singly and doubly charged scalars of between 1 to 2 TeV, with some dependence on perturbativity and fine-tuning requirements. This makes the scalars difficult to observe at LHC with 14 TeV even with optimistic assumptions on the luminosity, and would require a multi-TeV linear collider to see the scalar resonances. We point out, however, that a sub-TeV linear collider in the like-sign mode may be able to observe lepton flavour violating processes such as eeμμe^- e^- \to \mu^- \mu^- due to contact interactions induced by the doubly charged scalar with masses up to around 10 TeV. We investigate the possibility to distinguish the Zee-Babu model from the Higgs triplet model using such processes.Comment: 12 pages, 7 figure

    Analysis of the vibration of pipes conveying fluid

    The dynamic equilibrium matrix equation for a discretized pipe element containing flowing fluid is derived from the Lagrange principle, the Ritz method and consideration of the coupling between the pipe and fluid. The Eulerian approach and the concept of fictitious loads for kinematic correction are adopted for the analysis of geometrically non-linear vibration. The model is then deployed to investigate the vibratory behaviour of the pipe conveying fluid. The results for a long, simply supported, fluid-conveying pipe subjected to initial axial tensions are compared with experimentally obtained results and those from a linear vibration model

    Modelling of material cutting with a material microstructure-level (MML) model

    In this research work a material microstructure-level cutting model (MML cutting model) is presented. The crystal plasticity theory is adopted for modeling the cutting of the titanium alloy Ti–6Al–4V in orthogonal case. In this model, the grains of the studied material are explicitly presented, and their orientation angles and slip system strength anisotropy are considered as the main source of the microstructure heterogeneity in the cutting material. To obtain the material degradation process, the continuum self-consistent intragranular damage model and discrete cohesive zone inter-granular damage model, were developed, wherein the zero thickness cohesive element is implemented to simulate the bond between grain interfaces. This model was validated by a comparison with compression tests from literature. Results demonstrate the possibility to capture the influence of the microstructure on the material removal in terms of chip formation. Particularly, it is demonstrated that the grain orientation angle plays an important role for the chip segmentation and its periodicity during the cutting process
