Observation of plateau regions for zero bias peaks within 5% of the quantized conductance value
Probing an isolated Majorana zero mode is predicted to reveal a tunneling
conductance quantized at at zero temperature. Experimentally, a
zero-bias peak (ZBP) is expected and its height should remain robust against
relevant parameter tuning, forming a quantized plateau. Here, we report the
observation of large ZBPs in a thin InAs-Al hybrid nanowire device. The ZBP
height can stick close to , mostly within 5% tolerance, by sweeping
gate voltages and magnetic field. We further map out the phase diagram and
identify two plateau regions in the phase space. Our result constitutes a step
forward towards establishing Majorana zero modes.Comment: Raw data and processing codes within this paper are available at

PyPose v0.6: The Imperative Programming Interface for Robotics
PyPose is an open-source library for robot learning. It combines a
learning-based approach with physics-based optimization, which enables seamless
end-to-end robot learning. It has been used in many tasks due to its
meticulously designed application programming interface (API) and efficient
implementation. From its initial launch in early 2022, PyPose has experienced
significant enhancements, incorporating a wide variety of new features into its
platform. To satisfy the growing demand for understanding and utilizing the
library and reduce the learning curve of new users, we present the fundamental
design principle of the imperative programming interface, and showcase the
flexible usage of diverse functionalities and modules using an extremely simple
Dubins car example. We also demonstrate that the PyPose can be easily used to
navigate a real quadruped robot with a few lines of code
GPR41 Regulates the Proliferation of BRECs via the PIK3-AKT-mTOR Pathway
Short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) play a pivotal role in regulating the proliferation and development of bovine rumen epithelial cells (BRECs). G protein-coupled receptor 41 (GPR41) is involved in the signal transduction in BRECs as a receptor for SCFAs. Nevertheless, the impact of GPR41 on the proliferation of BRECs has not been reported. The results of this research showed that the knockdown of GPR41 (GRP41KD) decreased BRECs proliferation compared with the wild-type BRECs (WT) (p p p p p < 0.05) compared with the WT cells. Therefore, it was proposed that GPR41 may affect the proliferation of BRECs by mediating the PIK3-AKT-mTOR signaling pathway
Downregulation of miR-503 Promotes ESCC Cell Proliferation, Migration, and Invasion by Targeting Cyclin D1
Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is one of the most aggressive cancers in China, but the underlying molecular mechanism of ESCC is still unclear. Involvement of microRNAs has been demonstrated in cancer initiation and progression. Despite the reported function of miR-503 in several human cancers, its detailed anti-oncogenic role and clinical significance in ESCC remain undefined. In this study, we examined miR-503 expression by qPCR and found the downregulation of miR-503 expression in ESCC tissue relative to adjacent normal tissues. Further investigation in the effect of miR-503 on ESCC cell proliferation, migration, and invasion showed that enhanced expression of miR-503 inhibited ESCC aggressive phenotype and overexpression of CCND1 reversed the effect of miR-503-mediated ESCC cell aggressive phenotype. Our study further identified CCND1 as the target gene of miR-503. Thus, miR-503 functions as a tumor suppressor and has an important role in ESCC by targeting CCND1
Revisiting motion-based respiration measurement from videos
Abstract
Video-based motion analysis gave rise to contactless respiration rate monitoring that measures subtle respiratory movement from a human chest or belly. In this paper, we revisit this technology via a large video benchmark that includes six categories of practical challenges. We analyze two video properties (i.e. pixel intensity variation and pixel movement) that are essential for respiratory motion analysis and various signal extraction approaches (i.e. from conventional to recent Convolutional Neural Network (CNN)-based methods). We find that pixel movement can better quantify respiratory motion than pixel intensity variation in various conditions. We also conclude that the simple conventional approach (e.g. Zerophase Component Analysis) can achieve better performance than CNN that uses data training to define the extraction of respiration signal, which thus raises a more general question whether CNN can improve video-based physiological signal measurement
Data_Sheet_1_Effects of supplementation of sodium acetate on rumen fermentation and microbiota in postpartum dairy cows.PDF
The primary product of rumen fermentation is acetic acid, and its sodium salt is an excellent energy source for post-partum cows to manage negative energy balance (NEB). However, it is unknown how adding sodium acetate (NAc) may affect the rumen bacterial population of post-partum cows. Using the identical nutritional total mixed ration (TMR), this research sought to characterize the impact of NAc supplementation on rumen fermentation and the composition of bacterial communities in post-partum cows. After calving, 24 cows were randomly assigned to two groups of 12 cows each: a control group (CON) and a NAc group (ACE). All cows were fed the same basal TMR with 468 g/d NaCl added to the TMR for the CON group and 656 g/d NAc added to the TMR for the ACE group for 21 days after calving. Ruminal fluid was collected before morning feeding on the last day of the feeding period and analyzed for rumen bacterial community composition by 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Under the identical TMR diet conditions, NAc supplementation did not change rumen pH but increased ammonia nitrogen (NH3-N) levels and microbial crude protein (MCP) concentrations. The administration of NAc to the feed upregulated rumen concentrations of total volatile fatty acids (TVFA), acetic, propionic, isovaleric and isobutyric acids without affecting the molar ratio of VFAs. In the two experimental groups, the Bacteroidota, Firmicutes, Patescibacteria and Proteobacteria were the dominant rumen phylum, and Prevotella was the dominant rumen genus. The administration of NAc had no significant influence on the α-diversity of the rumen bacterial community but upregulated the relative abundance of Prevotella and downregulated the relative abundance of RF39 and Clostridia_UCG_014. In conclusion, the NAc supplementation in the post-peripartum period altered rumen flora structure and thus improved rumen fermentation in dairy cows. Our findings provide a reference for the addition of sodium acetate to alleviate NEB in cows during the late perinatal period.</p
Molecular predictors of brain metastasis-related microRNAs in lung adenocarcinoma.
Brain metastasis (BM) is a major complication of lung adenocarcinoma (LAD). An investigation of the pathogenic mechanisms of BM, as well as the identification of appropriate molecular markers, is necessary. The aim of this study was to determine the expression patterns of microRNAs (miRNAs) in LAD with BM, and to investigate the biological role of these miRNAs during tumorigenesis. miRNA array profiles were used to identify BM-associated miRNAs. These miRNAs were independently validated in 155 LAD patients. Several in vivo and in vitro assays were performed to verify the effects of miRNAs on BM. We identified six miRNAs differentially expressed in patients with BM as compared to patients with BM. Of these, miR-4270 and miR-423-3p were further investigated. miR-4270 and miR-423-3p directly targeted MMP19 and P21, respectively, to influence cell viability, migration, and colony formation in vitro. miR-4270 downregulation and miR-423-3p upregulation was associated with an increased risk of BM in LAD patients. Thus, our results suggested that miR-4270 and miR-423-3p might play an important role in BM pathogenesis in LAD patients, and that these miRNAs might be useful prognostic and clinical treatment targets

Thin, soft, wearable system for continuous wireless monitoring of artery blood pressure
Abstract Continuous monitoring of arterial blood pressure (BP) outside of a clinical setting is crucial for preventing and diagnosing hypertension related diseases. However, current continuous BP monitoring instruments suffer from either bulky systems or poor user-device interfacial performance, hampering their applications in continuous BP monitoring. Here, we report a thin, soft, miniaturized system (TSMS) that combines a conformal piezoelectric sensor array, an active pressure adaptation unit, a signal processing module, and an advanced machine learning method, to allow real wearable, continuous wireless monitoring of ambulatory artery BP. By optimizing the materials selection, control/sampling strategy, and system integration, the TSMS exhibits improved interfacial performance while maintaining Grade A level measurement accuracy. Initial trials on 87 volunteers and clinical tracking of two hypertension individuals prove the capability of the TSMS as a reliable BP measurement product, and its feasibility and practical usability in precise BP control and personalized diagnosis schemes development
