Chaotic dynamics and zero distribution:Implications for Yitang Zhang's Landau Siegel zero theorem

This study delves into the realm of chaotic dynamics derived from Dirichlet L functions, drawing inspiration from Yitang Zhang's groundbreaking work on Landau Siegel zeros. The dynamic behavior reveals a profound chaos, corroborated by the calculated Lyapunov exponents and entropy, which attest to the system's inherent unpredictability. The examination of stability further uncovers the instability of fixed points. Most notably, these findings unveil a compelling connection between the studied dynamics and the intricate distribution of zeros, thereby offering indirect support for Zhang's groundbreaking theorem concerning Landau Siegel zeros.Comment: 15 pages,9 figure

Electric Motor Drive Selection Issues for HEV Propulsion Systems: A Comparative Study

    No full text
International audienceThis paper describes a comparative study allowing the selection of the most appropriate electric propulsion system for a parallel Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV). This study is based on an exhaustive review of the state of the art and on an effective comparison of the performances of the four main electric propulsion systems that are the dc motor, the induction motor, the permanent magnet synchronous motor, and the switched reluctance motor. The main conclusion drawn by the proposed comparative study is that it is the cage induction motor that better fulfils the major requirements of the HEV electric propulsion

Advanced Fault-Tolerant Control of Induction-Motor Drives for EV/HEV Traction Applications: From Conventional to Modern and Intelligent Control Techniques

    No full text
International audienceThis paper describes active fault-tolerant control systems for a high-performance induction-motor drive that propels an electrical vehicle (EV) or a hybrid one (HEV). The proposed systems adaptively reorganize themselves in the event of sensor loss or sensor recovery to sustain the best control performance, given the complement of remaining sensors. Moreover, the developed systems take into account the controller-transition smoothness, in terms of speed and torque transients. The two proposed fault-tolerant control strategies have been simulated on a 4-kW induction-motor drive, and speed and torque responses have been carried to evaluate the consistency and the performance of the proposed approaches. Simulation results, in terms of speed and torque responses, show the global effectiveness of the proposed approaches, particularly the one based on modern and intelligent control techniques in terms of speed and torque smoothness

    Get PDF
Algeria is a post-conflict society that experienced a controversial process of reconciliation. The author scrutinises this process by highlighting the principal measures that were undertaken by the government, the constraints, and the complementary role played by civil society organisations. She also sets out the aspects of the Algerian experience that could be relevant for other countries experiencing violence, including Libya, where there is the need for reconciliation and peacebuilding processes. The analysis is divided into four sections. First, the author contextualises the conflict and sets out the main phases of the war. Then, she highlights the first steps toward negotiations and the factors that facilitated this. The third section examines the Civil Concord Law (CCL), which has been considered a significant milestone in the Algerian reconciliation process. The fourth element explores the principle components of national reconciliation looking particularly at the Charter for Peace and National Reconciliation (CNPR). Finally, the author illuminates the role that has been played by civil society organizations in establishing and enhancing the human rights regime after the war.

Intelligent Detection of MAC Spoofing Attack in 802.11 Network

In 802.11, all devices are uniquely identified by a Media Access Control (MAC) address. However, legitimate MAC addresses can be easily spoofed to launch various forms of attacks, such as Denial of Service attacks. Impersonating the MAC address of a legitimate user poses a big challenge for cyber crime investigators. Indeed, MAC spoofing makes the task of identifying the source of the attack very diffi- cult. Sequence number analysis is a common technique used to detect MAC spoofing attack. Existing solutions relying on sequence number analysis, adopt a threshold-based approach where the gap between consecutive sequence numbers is compared to a threshold to decide the presence of a MAC spoofing attack. Nevertheless, threshold-based approach may lead to a high rate of false alerts due to lost or duplicated frames. To overcome the limitations of threshold-based approach, this paper proposes a detection method that relies on a machine learning approach, namely Artificial Neural Network (ANN). ANNs provide the potential to identify and classify network behavior from limited, noisy, incomplete and nonlinear data sources. The experimentation results showed the effectiveness of the proposed detection technique. Moreover, we proposed a user-friendly graphical representation of information to support the interpretation of quantitative results
