Coupling terms within the dynamics of an inertial pair connected via a passive frictional contact are non-trivial and have long remained understudied in system communities. This problem is particularly challenging from a point of view of modeling the interaction forces and motion state variables. This paper deals with a generalized motion problem in systems with a free (of additional constraints) friction interface, assuming the classical Coulomb friction with discontinuity at the velocity zero crossing. We formulate the dynamics of motion as the closed-form ordinary differential equations containing the sign operator for mapping both, the Coulomb friction and the switching conditions, and discuss the validity of the model in the generalized force and motion coordinates. The system has one active degree of freedom (the driving body) and one passive degree of freedom (the driven body). We demonstrate the global convergence of trajectories for a free system with no external excitation forces. Then, an illustrative case study is presented for a harmonic oscillator with a frictionally coupled second mass that is not grounded or connected to a fixed frame. This simplified example illustrates a realization and main features of the proposed (general) modeling framework. Some future development and related challenges are discussed at the end of the paper.acceptedVersio

    Hysteresis resulting from Lennard-Jones interactions

The fundamental mechanism of hysteresis in the quasistatic limit of multi-stable systems is associated with transitions of the system from one local minimum of the potential energy to another. In this scenario, as system parameters are (quasistatically) varied, the transition is prompted when a saddle-node bifurcation eliminates the minimum where the system resides in. The objective of the present work is to specify this generic mechanism for systems of interacting particles assuming a natural single-well (Lennard-Jones) interaction potential for each pair of particles. We show multi-stability and present details of hysteresis scenarios with the associated bifurcations and transitions in a case study of constrained four-degrees-of-freedom four particle systems on the plane

The report provides an overview of AI methods and tools and of their applicability for creation of robot’s intelligence. By a term “robot” we simultaneously refer to a decision support system in a form of an autonomous device (a traditional robot) and to some system presented in the form of special software that implements the functions of an intelligent assistant. The totality of works on AI can be divided into two areas, two types: • imitation of human intellectual activity; • decision support, autonomous decision making based on inference (usually first-order predicate algebra), or other tools. Our company deals exclusively with systems of the second type. Structure of the paper: (1) An overview of AI: pattern recognition, machine learning, data meaning, neural networks, singular value decomposition (SVD). Here we discuss the advantages and limitations of the most well-known approaches in the field of applied AI methods today. (2) Our experience in AI: knowledge base, ontology, inference machine, scenario approach, ontomodeller, Protege 2000. A brief history of the application of AI methods in our company since the late 90s of the last century is presented. (3) Tactical situation analysis. In our systems, the concept of a tactical situation is the basis for the application of AI in real-time systems and in monitoring systems for various purposes. A tactical situation is a basic concept for determining the reaction to external circumstances and conditions that have arisen for a robot that ensures the fulfilment of a certain mission. (4) Smart city applications. Developed within the framework of the European CRISALIDE project, an intelligent decision support system in the interests of a smart city, is one of the options for implementing basic AI technologies in the interests of urban governance. (5) Future work: RIC technology, discussion: a “Green Button” idea. Based on our experience of theoretical and technological research, a technology system is proposed, a technological platform that can be called a core of robotics intelligence (RIC). This platform allows you to form a full cycle of intelligent control of the robot: • obtaining data on the external environment (robot environment) from various sources, own and external; • evaluation of options for fulfilling one's own mission and making a decision (close to the optimal solution); • monitoring the implementation of the decision; • proofreading of the solution if necessary; • making a decision on the completion of a mission formed for a robot, or a general system for which a decision is made on automatic control without involving (directly) a person. Accumulation of experience and self-training based on the analysis of tactical situations and the results of decisions made. We call this idea a “Green Button” idea

Recently emerged social networks are gaining momentum and are becoming an integral part of modern life. The introduction of artificial intelligence methods, such as ChatGPT, show the importance of this field of science in computer technology, science and social life. With more than 20 years of experience in the application of AI methods, we consider it appropriate to share ideas for their application in the interests of everyday human activities. Our main proposal concerns the creation of decision support systems based on social networks, localized in the interests of a particular person. The main technologies that we apply are the following: Scenario Approach, which includes the Ontology System, Inference Machine, a Visual Integrated Development Environment, and a number of mathematical approaches that implement machine learning and DSS. First of all, these are: Singular Value Decomposition and Method of United Randomize Indices. Unlike neural networks, these methods have a clear mathematical interpretation and controlled accuracy. Also for their application there is no need for very large statistics

The priority task of the Russian Federation in the upbringing of the younger generation is the development of a highly moral person who shares Russian traditional spiritual values, has relevant knowledge and skills, and is able to realize his potential. The modern information society is characterized, on the one hand, by the growth of the electronic educational environment and distance technologies, which make it possible to bring education to a new level of opportunities for the development of children and adolescents, on the other hand, by additional risks of increased aggressiveness in the adolescent environment, peer bullying and other antisocial manifestations. The upbringing of children and adolescents in a family and an educational organization is a strategic nationwide priority that requires the consolidation of the efforts of various civil society institutions and departments at the federal, regional and municipal levels (the Upbringing Development Strategy in the Russian Federation for the period through to 2025). The preprint presented contains materials of research work carried out by the Center for Strategy, Design and Legal Support of RANEPA FIRO in 2021. The object of the described research is the process of socialization of children and adolescents in the modern information space. This preprint contains most of the research done. To achieve the goal of the study, the authors analyzed the literature on the issue and prepared a substantiation of scientific and methodological approaches in the development of programs for the socialization of children and adolescents in the information analysis societies. The subject of the analysis was the study of the psychological well-being of children and adolescents in the course of socialization in the educational space and communication in social networks (based on materials from foreign and domestic studies). In the course of solving scientific problems, the researchers identified the factors influencing the psychological well-being of children and adolescents in the modern educational space, and developed a system for assessing the subjective well-being of the Russian schoolchildren’s families based on the results of research on the psychological well-being of children and adolescents in the modern educational space and in social networks. As a scientific and practical development, the researchers offer one of the research results, an original program for the socialization of children and adolescents in a modern information society, which has been tested in 11 regions of the Russian Federation. Additionally, the preprint contains materials that will be useful for practical application by educational psychologists - a set of methods for assessing the psychological well-being of children and adolescents in the modern educational space and in social network

The Otherness of the Marxist Philosophy of History: An Attempt at Symbolic Conceptualization Abstract: The presented master's thesis makes an attempt to re-contextualize the Marxist philosophy of history in relation to its otherness (Anderssein) and thereby to shift the methodologically central accent away from the category of totality (worked out mainly in Lukács' "History and Class Consciousness"). This new perspective is to be centred on the phenomena that cannot be fully covered in a scientific or strictly materialist manner and that nevertheless belong to the conceptual framework of Marxism. For this purpose, the other (das Andere) is defined as the symbolic (das Symbolische), which is further examined in the first part of the thesis with reference to Kant's "Critique of Judgment" and on the basis of several descriptions - discursive and phenomenological alike. The symbolic is then outlined as a special type of figurative that overcomes the figurative itself and thus constitutes a transcending operation. In the second part of the paper, this definition is applied to the Marxist philosophy of history with the aim to explicate its symbolic figures and to show their conceptual tensions. In accordance with the established meaning of the term, three symbols are consecutively considered and analysed: The..

EVALUATION OF FACTORS AFFECTING THE LONG-TERM RESULTS OF MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING GUIDED FOCUSED ULTRASOUND ABLATION OF UTERINE FIBROIDS

Objective: to analyze the results of focused ultrasound ablation (MRgFUS) of uterine fibroids and to evaluate the factors affecting the long-term results of treatment.Material and methods. Retrospective analysis of 67 FUS ablations (67 women, 94 fibroids) was performed. The observation period after FUS was up to 36 months. Characteristics of fibroids (standardized signal intensity (SSI) and signal heterogeneity in T2-WI, maximum diameter, volume, nonperfused volume (NPV), coefficients of volume and NPV dynamics (CDV, CDNPV), MR-type) were assessed by MRI. Standardization of the fibroid signal intensity was performed by using the signal intensity from iliac muscle. CDV, CDNPV were calculated as the ratio of fibroids volume and NPV at the time of control MRI to their initial values.Results. Post treatment NPV ratio was 57.1 ± 22.5%. The maximal significant reduction of fibroids volume and NPV was detected by 12 months after FUS (52.1% and 85.8%). CDV and CDNPV showed significant (p<0.05) correlation with post treatment NPV ratio (r=-0.5 and r=0.37), fibroids volume (r=0.28 and r=0.49) and maximum diameter (r=0.26 and r=0.49). Fibroids with NPV ≥50% and volume <150 cm3 were characterized by the highest rate of volume reduction. Fibroids with NPV≥75% and volume >100 cm3 were characterized by the lowest rate of NPV reduction. The maximal reduction of volume during the observation period was detected in fibroids with NPV≥75% and volume <100 cm3, the minimal – in fibroids with NPV<25% and volume >150 cm3.Conclusion. The dynamics of fibroids volume and NPV after MRgFUS depends on initial values of these characteristics

A continuum of path-dependent equilibrium solutions induced by sticky expectations

    No full text
summary:We analyze a simple macroeconomic model where rational inflation expectations are replaced by a boundedly rational, and genuinely sticky, response to changes in the actual inflation rate. The stickiness is introduced in a novel way using a mathematical operator that is amenable to rigorous analysis. We prove that, when exogenous noise is absent from the system, the unique equilibrium of the rational expectations model is replaced by an entire line segment of possible equilibria with the one chosen depending, in a deterministic way, upon the previous states of the system. The agents are sufficiently far-removed from the rational expectations paradigm that problems of indeterminacy do not arise.\looseness -1 \endgraf The response to exogenous noise is far more subtle than in a unique equilibrium model. After sufficiently small shocks the system will indeed revert to the same equilibrium but larger ones will move the system to a different one (at the same model parameters). The path to this new equilibrium may be very long with a highly unpredictable endpoint. At certain model parameters exogenously-triggered runaway inflation can occur. \endgraf Finally, we analyze a variant model in which the same form of sticky response is introduced into the interest rate rule instead
