Stochastic equation for a jumping process with long-time correlations

A jumping process, defined in terms of jump size distribution and waiting time distribution, is presented. The jumping rate depends on the process value. The process, which is Markovian and stationary, relaxes to an equilibrium and is characterized by the power-law autocorrelation function. Therefore, it can serve as a model of the 1/f noise as well as a model of the stochastic force in the generalized Langevin equation. This equation is solved for the noise correlations 1/t; the resulting velocity distribution has sharply falling tails. Leben gegen Leben?

Der Fokus der vorliegenden Arbeit liegt auf Eingriffen des Staates in Art 2 EMRK iZm der Terrorismusbekämpfung. Nach einer gründlichen Kommentierung des Art 2 und einer überblickshaften Darstellung des Phänomens Terrorismus werden die Fallkonstellationen: Tötung mutmaßlicher Terroristen; Grenzen der positiven Schutzpflicht des Staates, Schutz der Bürger vor Terrorismus, Schutz der Terrorismussympathisanten; Tötung von Zivilpersonen im Zuge antiterroristischer Operationen an Hand der Rsp des EGMR besprochen. Besonderes Augenmerk wird auf die drastischste Fallkonstellation gelegt, nämlich jene, in der sog innocent bystanders getötet werden, um das Leben anderer vor terroristischen Angriffen zu retten. Als bedeutendes Beispiel hier das deutsche Luftsicherheitsgesetz. Das dBVerfG erklärte das dLuftSiG für nichtig, da es gegen das Recht auf Leben und die Menschenwürde verstoße. Unter Berücksichtigung der Argumentationsweise des dBVerfG und der Literatur zu diesem Urteil wird das dLuftSiG am Prüfungsmaßstab des Art 2 EMRK beurteilt. Basis und gleichzeitig auch Diskussionspunkt ist die in der Lehre derzeit anerkannte Meinung, dass das Rechtsgut Leben einen unaufwiegbaren Höchstwert besitzt und daher nie aus quantitativen oder qualitativen Überlegungen verletzt werden darf. Im Rahmen der rechtlichen Beurteilung wird der Frage nachgegangen, inwieweit sich Bedeutung, Anwendung und Auslegung des Art 2 EMRK angesichts des neuen Bedrohungsszenarios „Terrorismus“ verändert hat und / oder verändern wird: Leben gegen Leben, Schutzpflicht des Staates gegen das Recht auf Leben eines jeden Einzelnen. Wie ist ein solcher Eingriff als ein gesetzmäßiger zu rechtfertigen bzw kann ein solcher Eingriff überhaupt gerechtfertigt werden, ja vielleicht sogar geboten sein

A Role for ATP1A1 in Unconventional Secretion of Fibroblast Growth Factor 2

Fibroblast growth factor 2 (FGF2) is a potent mitogen involved in many physiological processes such as cell proliferation, differentiation as well as angiogenesis and, therefore, has a prominent function in tumor growth. FGF2 is secreted via an unconventional pathway using a route that is independent from the endoplasmic reticulum and the Golgi apparatus. Secretion of FGF2 occurs by direct translocation across the plasma membrane in a folded state, which is initiated by binding to phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate (PI(4,5)P2) at the inner leaflet of the plasma membrane. In the extracellular space, membrane proximal heparan sulfate proteoglycans (HSPGs) are required to complete translocation as well as to store and protect FGF2 on cell surfaces. The interaction with PI(4,5)P2 was shown to facilitate oligomerization of FGF2 leading to the formation of a lipidic membrane pore that has been interpreted as an intermediate structure in FGF2 membrane translocation. In addition, Tec kinase was discovered as a factor regulating FGF2 secretion by phosphorylating tyrosine 82 in FGF2. Recent evidence suggests that phosphorylation stabilizes the formation of FGF2 oligomers, which favors the arrangement of a transient hydrophilic pore constituted by FGF2 molecules in the plasma membrane. Based on a genome-wide ribonucleic acid interference (RNAi) screen this study aimed for the identification of further proteinaceous components that regulate or facilitate FGF2 secretion. Pharmacological studies previously implicated the sodium potassium pump (Na+/K+-ATPase) as a potential factor involved in FGF2 secretion, which indeed was a major hit in the genome-wide RNAi screen described in this thesis. Therefore, the main goal of this study was to validate these findings and to obtain mechanistic insight into the role of the Na+/K+-ATPase in the overall process of FGF2 secretion. Since the Na+/K+-ATPase is formed of a heterodimeric complex that consists of the α- and β-subunit, cell-based secretion experiments identified the α1-subunit (ATP1A1) as the component involved in FGF2 secretion. Furthermore, a direct interaction between the cytoplasmic domains of ATP1A1 with FGF2 could be demonstrated. In addition, both proteins were shown to co-localize at the plasma membrane in HeLa cells. Therefore, it is highly likely that a direct interaction of FGF2 and ATP1A1 occurs at the cytoplasmic leaflet facilitating export of FGF2 from cells. Based on an alpha screening setup analyzing a large library of small molecules, compounds were identified that block the interaction between FGF2 and ATP1A1. Therefore, this study provides new tools for future investigations on the mechanism of FGF2 secretion as well as lead compounds with a high potential for the development of novel anti-angiogenic drugs

Das Zusammenführen von Informationen aus verschiedenen Quellen im Rahmen der linguistischen Forschung kann einen nicht zu unterschätzenden Aufwand darstellen. Webportale, die diese in digitalisierter Form enthalten, bieten eine mögliche Lösung für dieses Problem, müssen aber dazu bestimmte Anforderungen erfüllen. Dieser Beitrag analysiert diese Anforderungen und untersucht weitere orginär digitale Möglichkeiten, die sich in diesem Kontext ergeben. Darauf aufbauend ermittelt er, was dies für Struktur und Format der zugrundeliegenden Daten bedeutet und zeigt am Beispiel eine konkrete Umsetzung der aufgestellten Prinzipien.Combining information from different sources in the context of linguistic research can lead to an effort that should not be underestimated. Web portals that contain a digital representation of that information offer a possible solution to this problem, but need to fulfil certain criteria to achieve this goal. The article analyses these criteria and examines further possibilities, exclusive to the digital form, that arise in this context.
