Josephson dynamics for coupled polariton modes under the atom-field interaction in the cavity
We consider a new approach to the problem of Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC)
of polaritons for atom-field interaction under the strong coupling regime in
the cavity. We investigate the dynamics of two macroscopically populated
polariton modes corresponding to the upper and lower branch energy states
coupled via Kerr-like nonlinearity of atomic medium. We found out the
dispersion relations for new type of collective excitations in the system under
consideration. Various temporal regimes like linear (nonlinear) Josephson
transition and/or Rabi oscillations, macroscopic quantum self-trapping (MQST)
dynamics for population imbalance of polariton modes are predicted. We also
examine the switching properties for time-averaged population imbalance
depending on initial conditions, effective nonlinear parameter of atomic medium

A geometric theory of non-local two-qubit operations
We study non-local two-qubit operations from a geometric perspective. By
applying a Cartan decomposition to su(4), we find that the geometric structure
of non-local gates is a 3-Torus. We derive the invariants for local
transformations, and connect these local invariants to the coordinates of the
3-Torus. Since different points on the 3-Torus may correspond to the same local
equivalence class, we use the Weyl group theory to reduce the symmetry. We show
that the local equivalence classes of two-qubit gates are in one-to-one
correspondence with the points in a tetrahedron except on the base. We then
study the properties of perfect entanglers, that is, the two-qubit operations
that can generate maximally entangled states from some initially separable
states. We provide criteria to determine whether a given two-qubit gate is a
perfect entangler and establish a geometric description of perfect entanglers
by making use of the tetrahedral representation of non-local gates. We find
that exactly half the non-local gates are perfect entanglers. We also
investigate the non-local operations generated by a given Hamiltonian. We first
study the gates that can be directly generated by a Hamiltonian. Then we
explicitly construct a quantum circuit that contains at most three non-local
gates generated by a two-body interaction Hamiltonian, together with at most
four local gates generated by single qubit terms. We prove that such a quantum
circuit can simulate any arbitrary two-qubit gate exactly, and hence it
provides an efficient implementation of universal quantum computation and

Topological Superfluid in one-dimensional Ultracold Atomic System with Spin-Orbit Coupling
We propose a one-dimensional Hamiltonian which supports Majorana
fermions when -wave superfluid appears in the ultracold atomic
system and obtain the phase-separation diagrams both for the
time-reversal-invariant case and time-reversal-symmetry-breaking case. From the
phase-separation diagrams, we find that the single Majorana fermions exist in
the topological superfluid region, and we can reach this region by tuning the
chemical potential and spin-orbit coupling . Importantly, the
spin-orbit coupling has realized in ultracold atoms by the recent experimental
achievement of synthetic gauge field, therefore, our one-dimensional ultra-cold
atomic system described by is a promising platform to find the

Correlated responses on growth traits after two-stage selection for ovulation rate and litter size in rabbits
[EN] Rabbit commercial maternal lines are usually selected for litter size (LS) and paternal lines for growth rate (GR). Line OR_LS was selected by ovulation rate (OR) and LS to improve LS more efficiently. In this study, growth traits of line OR_LS were evaluated by estimating the correlated response on weaning weight (WW), slaughter weight (SW) and GR during fattening period as well as their variability (DWW, DSW and DGR, respectively). Data were analyzed using Bayesian inference methods. Heritability estimates were low for growth traits (0.09, 0.13 and 0.14 for WW, SW and GR, respectively) and negligible for growth traits variability (0.01, 0.004 and 0.01 for DWW, DSW and DGR, respectively). Moderate common litter effect ratio (c(2); 0.35, 0.28 and 0.27) and low maternal effect ratio (m(2); 0.11, 0.05 and 0.01) were obtained for WW, SW and GR, respectively. Both c(2) and m(2) were lower at slaughter than at weaning. In addition, low common litter effect and negligible maternal effect were observed for growth traits variability. Genetic correlations between LS and both growth traits and their variability were close to zero. Positive genetic correlations were observed between OR and growth traits (0.19, 0.38 and 0.36 for WW, SW and GR, respectively) as well as between OR and growth traits variability (0.35, 0.62 and 0.20 for DWW, DSW and DGR, respectively). Positive correlated responses in both periods were obtained for growth traits, WW, SW and GR (0.037, 0.156 and 0.110 kg, respectively). The correlated response found in growth traits might be due to the positive genetic correlations between OR and these traits. However, selection for OR and LS using independent culling levels did not modify the growth traits variability. Cold-inducible RNA-binding protein but not its antisense lncRNA is a direct negative regulator of angiogenesis in vitro and in vivo via regulation of the 14q32 angiomiRs-microRNA-329-3p and microRNA-495-3p
Inhibition of the 14q32 microRNAs, miR-329-3p and miR-495-3p, improves post-ischemic neovascularization. Cold-inducible RNA-binding protein (CIRBP) facilitates maturation of these microRNAs. We hypothesized that CIRBP deficiency improves post-ischemic angiogenesis via downregulation of 14q32 microRNA expression. We investigated these regulatory mechanisms both in vitro and in vivo. We induced hindlimb ischemia in Cirp(-/-) and C57Bl/6-J mice, monitored blood flow recovery with laser Doppler perfusion imaging, and assessed neovascularization via immunohistochemistry. Post-ischemic angiogenesis was enhanced in Cirp(-/-) mice by 34.3% with no effects on arteriogenesis. In vivo at day 7, miR-329-3p and miR-495-3p expression were downregulated in Cirp(-/-) mice by 40.6% and 36.2%. In HUVECs, CIRBP expression was upregulated under hypothermia, while miR-329-3p and miR-495-3p expression remained unaffected. siRNA-mediated CIRBP knockdown led to the downregulation of CIRBP-splice-variant-1 (CIRBP-SV1), CIRBP antisense long noncoding RNA (lncRNA-CIRBP-AS1), and miR-495-3p with no effects on the expression of CIRBP-SV2-4 or miR-329-3p. siRNA-mediated CIRBP knockdown improved HUVEC migration and tube formation. SiRNA-mediated lncRNA-CIRBP-AS1 knockdown had similar long-term effects. After short incubation times, however, only CIRBP knockdown affected angiogenesis, indicating that the effects of lncRNA-CIRBP-AS1 knockdown were secondary to CIRBP-SV1 downregulation. CIRBP is a negative regulator of angiogenesis in vitro and in vivo and acts, at least in part, through the regulation of miR-329-3p and miR-495-3p.Vascular Surger
Polarons with a twist
We consider a polaron model where molecular \emph{rotations} are important.
Here, the usual hopping between neighboring sites is affected directly by the
electron-phonon interaction via a {\em twist-dependent} hopping amplitude. This
model may be of relevance for electronic transport in complex molecules and
polymers with torsional degrees of freedom, such as DNA, as well as in
molecular electronics experiments where molecular twist motion is significant.
We use a tight-binding representation and find that very different polaronic
properties are already exhibited by a two-site model -- these are due to the
nonlinearity of the restoring force of the twist excitations, and of the
electron-phonon interaction in the model. In the adiabatic regime, where
electrons move in a {\em low}-frequency field of twisting-phonons, the
effective splitting of the energy levels increases with coupling strength. The
bandwidth in a long chain shows a power-law suppression with coupling, unlike

Constraints on accelerating universe using ESSENCE and Gold supernovae data combined with other cosmological probes
We use recently observed data: the 192 ESSENCE type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia),
the 182 Gold SNe Ia, the 3-year WMAP, the SDSS baryon acoustic peak, the X-ray
gas mass fraction in clusters and the observational data to constrain
models of the accelerating universe. Combining the 192 ESSENCE data with the
observational data to constrain a parameterized deceleration parameter,
we obtain the best fit values of transition redshift and current deceleration
parameter , .
Furthermore, using CDM model and two model-independent equation of
state of dark energy, we find that the combined constraint from the 192 ESSENCE
data and other four cosmological observations gives smaller values of
and , but a larger value of than the combined
constraint from the 182 Gold data with other four observations. Finally,
according to the Akaike information criterion it is shown that the recently
observed data equally supports three dark energy models: CDM,
