Concomitant t(8;21) and trisomy 4 in a patient with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML)
The t(8;21)(q22;q22) is a frequently occurring aberration in acute myeloid leukemia
(AML) (18-20%) and usually correlate with French-America-British (FAB) M2 subtype.
Several studies showed that patients carrying this abnormality demonstrated good
response to standard chemotherapy but also have a high incidence of disease relapse.
Trisomy 4 is a rare and specific chromosomal abnormality occurring in AML M2 or M4
of the FAB subtypes. We report a case of a 33-year-old female with an apparently
clinical and hematologic diagnosis of acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) in whom
cytogenetic analysis revealed an abnormal karyotype with trisomy 4, in addition to
t(8;21). Trisomy 4 and t(8;21) in a patient with AML is rare. The significance of t(8;21)
with trisomy 4 in AML are unclear but patients bearing this abnormality are associated
with a poor prognosis

Enabling Thin and Flexible Solid-State Composite Electrolytes by the Scalable Solution Process
All solid-state batteries (ASSBs) have the potential to deliver higher energy densities, wider operating temperature range, and improved safety compared with today's liquid-electrolyte-based batteries. However, of the various solid-state electrolyte (SSE) classes - polymers, sulfides, or oxides - none alone can deliver the combined properties of ionic conductivity, mechanical, and chemical stability needed to address scalability and commercialization challenges. While promising strategies to overcome these include the use of polymer/oxide or sulfide composites, there is still a lack of fundamental understanding between different SSE-polymer-solvent systems and its selection criteria. Here, we isolate various SSE-polymer-solvent systems and study their molecular level interactions by combining various characterization tools. With these findings, we introduce a suitable Li7P3S11SSE-SEBS polymer-xylene solvent combination that significantly reduces SSE thickness (∼50 μm). The SSE-polymer composite displays high room temperature conductivity (0.7 mS cm-1) and good stability with lithium metal by plating and stripping over 2000 h at 1.1 mAh cm-2. This study suggests the importance of understanding fundamental SSE-polymer-solvent interactions and provides a design strategy for scalable production of ASSBs
E3 Ubiquitin Ligases in Cancer and Their Pharmacological Targeting
Ubiquitination plays many critical roles in protein function and regulation. Consequently, mutation and aberrant expression of E3 ubiquitin ligases can drive cancer progression. Identifying key ligase-substrate relationships is crucial to understanding the molecular basis and pathways behind cancer and toward identifying novel targets for cancer therapeutics. Here, we review the importance of E3 ligases in the regulating the hallmarks of cancer, discuss some of the key and novel E3 ubiquitin ligases that drive tumor formation and angiogenesis, and review the clinical development of inhibitors that antagonize their function. We conclude with perspectives on the field and future directions toward understanding ubiquitination and cancer progression
Theory of Interfacial Plasmon-Phonon Scattering in Supported Graphene
One of the factors limiting electron mobility in supported graphene is remote
phonon scattering. We formulate the theory of the coupling between graphene
plasmon and substrate surface polar phonon (SPP) modes, and find that it leads
to the formation of interfacial plasmon-phonon (IPP) modes, from which the
phenomena of dynamic anti-screening and screening of remote phonons emerge. The
remote phonon-limited mobilities for SiO, HfO, h-BN and
AlO substrates are computed using our theory. We find that h-BN
yields the highest peak mobility, but in the practically useful high-density
range the mobility in HfO-supported graphene is high, despite the fact
that HfO is a high- dielectric with low-frequency modes. Our
theory predicts that the strong temperature dependence of the total mobility
effectively vanishes at very high carrier concentrations. The effects of
polycrystallinity on IPP scattering are also discussed.Comment: 33 pages, 7 figure
Structural and molecular basis of the assembly of the TRPP2/PKD1 complex
Mutations in PKD1 and TRPP2 account for nearly all cases of autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD). These 2 proteins form a receptor/ion channel complex on the cell surface. Using a combination of biochemistry, crystallography, and a single-molecule method to determine the subunit composition of proteins in the plasma membrane of live cells, we find that this complex contains 3 TRPP2 and 1 PKD1. A newly identified coiled-coil domain in the C terminus of TRPP2 is critical for the formation of this complex. This coiled-coil domain forms a homotrimer, in both solution and crystal structure, and binds to a single coiled-coil domain in the C terminus of PKD1. Mutations that disrupt the TRPP2 coiled-coil domain trimer abolish the assembly of both the full-length TRPP2 trimer and the TRPP2/PKD1 complex and diminish the surface expression of both proteins. These results have significant implications for the assembly, regulation, and function of the TRPP2/PKD1 complex and the pathogenic mechanism of some ADPKD-producing mutations
Controversial Product Advertising in China: Perceptions of Three Generational Cohorts
China is a country that has undergone a wide range of significant changes over the last 30 years, economically, politically, and socially. Major events not only have an important effect on the developmental history of a country such as China, but also create a new generational cohort, which can adopt different views and attitudes than those characterizing previous generations. This study analyses the results of a survey of three different generational groups in China, focusing on their attitudes towards the promotion of controversial products and advertising execution techniques. Research results show significant differences between the younger and older generations, especially in regard to gender-related products and certain advertising execution techniques
