    Emergence of pion parton distributions

    Get PDF
Supposing only that there is an effective charge which defines an evolution scheme for parton distribution functions (DFs) that is all-orders exact, strict lower and upper bounds on all Mellin moments of the valence-quark DFs of pionlike systems are derived. Exploiting contemporary results from numerical simulations of lattice-regularized quantum chromodynamics (QCD) that are consistent with these bounds, parameter-free predictions for pion valence, glue, and sea DFs are obtained. The form of the valence-quark DF at large values of the light-front momentum fraction is consistent with predictions derived using the QCD-prescribed behavior of the pion wave function.National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) 12135007 11805097Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf High Potential ProgrammeSpanish GovernmentEuropean Commission PID2019-107844GB-C22Junta de Andalucia P18-FR-5057 UHU-1264517 UHU EPIT-2021STRONG-2020 "The strong interaction at the frontier of knowledge: fundamental research and applications" from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme 82409

An experimental study for a miniature Stirling refrigerator

    Get PDF
Experimental results of a miniature two-stage Stirling cryocooler are introduced. The influence of filling gas pressure and refrigeration temperature on the refrigerating capacity along with the relationship between parameters was measured. The valley pressure corresponding to the lowest refrigeration temperature and the cooldown time versus operating pressure are discussed. The coefficient of performance and thermodynamic efficiency of the cryocooler are calculated based on experimental data

A metawindow with optimised acoustic and ventilation performance

    Get PDF
Crucial factors in window performance, such as natural ventilation and noise control, are generally conceived separately, forcing users to choose one over the other. To solve this dualism, this study aimed to develop an acoustic metamaterial (AMM) ergonomic window design to allow noise control without dependence on the natural ventilation duration and vice versa. First, the finite element method (FEM) was used to investigate the noise control performance of the acoustic metawindow (AMW) unit, followed by anechoic chamber testing, which also served as the validation of the FEM models. Furthermore, FEM analysis was used to optimise the acoustic performance and assess the ventilation potential. The numerical and experimental results exhibited an overall mean sound reduction of 15 dB within a bandwidth of 380 to 5000 Hz. A good agreement between the measured and numerical results was obtained, with a mean variation of 30%. Therefore, the AMW unit optimised acoustic performance, resulting in a higher noise reduction, especially from 50 to 500 Hz. Finally, most of the AMW unit configurations are suitable for natural ventilation, and a dynamic tuned ventilation capacity can be achieved for particular ranges by adjusting the window’s ventilation opening. The proposed designs have potential applications in building acoustics and engineering where natural ventilation and noise mitigation are required to meet regulations simultaneously

Structure optimization of ladle rotary table mounting device

    Get PDF
As a widely used equipment in continuous casting process, the installation process of ladle rotary table is complicated and requires many installation equipment. According to the practical engineering application, this paper takes the installation device as the research object, and optimizes the original structure of the installation device. SolidWorks software was used to model the overall structure of the installation device, and the established model was imported into Hypermesh for mesh division, and finally into ANSYS for finite element analysis to compare the stress and deformation of the structure before and after optimization. The results show that the stress of the optimized structure is reduced to some extent, and the practical application requirements are met

Stochastic Electrical Detection of Single Ion-Gated Semiconducting Polymers

    Get PDF
Semiconducting polymer chains constitute the building blocks for a wide range of electronic materials and devices. However, most of their electrical characteristics at the single-molecule level have received little attention. Elucidating these properties can help understanding performance limits and enable new applications. Here, coupled ionic–electronic charge transport is exploited to measure the quasi-1D electrical current through long single conjugated polymer chains as they form transient contacts with electrodes separated by ≈10 nm. Fluctuations between internal conformations of the individual polymers are resolved as abrupt, multilevel switches in the electrical current. This behavior is consistent with the theoretical simulations based on the worm-like-chain (WLC) model for semiflexible polymers. In addition to probing the intrinsic properties of single semiconducting polymer chains, the results provide an unprecedented window into the dynamics of random-coil polymers and enable the use of semiconducting polymers as electrical labels for single-molecule (bio)sensing assays.</p
