Efficacy of alternative seating on attention, in-seat behavior, and occupational performance in children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

Currently, there is one systematic review conducted by Gochenour and Poskey7 that synthesize current research evidence regarding alternative seating for students with attention difficulties. A limitation of this review, as noted by the authors, is a lack of a consistent definition of attention difficulty in the studies they included. A systematic review focused on a specific, well-defined diagnosis will better contribute to practice recommendations since these recommendations will be tailored to a clear and comprehensive understanding of the child’s attentional and occupational challenges. The review also included studies of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).7 While those with ASD may also have difficulties with attention, in-seat behavior and occupational performance, the underlying mechanism yielding these symptoms may be different than in children with ADHD. Thus, alternative seating may not work in the same way for children with ASD as it would for children with ADHD.7 Thus, a systematic review is needed to examine the evidence from all current studies regarding alternative seating on improving attention, in-seat behavior and occupational performance in students with ADHD to increase evidence-based practice in the field of occupational therapy

Elliptic flow of ϕ\phi meson and strange quark collectivity at RHIC

Based on A Multi-Phase Transport (AMPT) model, we have studied the elliptic flow v2v_{2} of ϕ\phi mesons from reconstructed K+KK^{+}K^{-} decay channel at the top Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider energy at Brookhaven National Laboratory. The dependences of v2v_{2} on transverse momentum pTp_T and collision centrality are presented and the rescattering effect of ϕ\phi mesons in the hadronic phase is also investigated. The results show that experimental measurement of v2v_{2} for ϕ\phi mesons can retain the early collision information before ϕ\phi decays and that the ϕ\phi v2v_2 value obeys the constituent quark number scaling which has been observed for other mesons and baryons. Our study indicates that the ϕ\phi v2v_2 mostly reflects partonic level collectivity developed during the early stage of the nucleus-nucleus collision and the strange and light up/down quarks have developed similar angular anistropy properties at the hadronization.Comment: 5 pages and 5 figures; accepted by Physical Review

A Sequential Circuit-Based IP Watermarking Algorithm for Multiple Scan Chains in Design-for-Test

In Very Large Scale Integrated Circuits (VLSI) design, the existing Design-for-Test(DFT) based watermarking techniques usually insert watermark through reordering scan cells, which causes large resource overhead, low security and coverage rate of watermark detection. A novel scheme was proposed to watermark multiple scan chains in DFT for solving the problems. The proposed scheme adopts DFT scan test model of VLSI design, and uses a Linear Feedback Shift Register (LFSR) for pseudo random test vector generation. All of the test vectors are shifted in scan input for the construction of multiple scan chains with minimum correlation. Specific registers in multiple scan chains will be changed by the watermark circuit for watermarking the design. The watermark can be effectively detected without interference with normal function of the circuit, even after the chip is packaged. The experimental results on several ISCAS benchmarks show that the proposed scheme has lower resource overhead, probability of coincidence and higher coverage rate of watermark detection by comparing with the existing methods

Spring Cold Bias of SST and minimal wind mixing in the Equatorial Pacific Cold Tongue

AbstractThe authors investigate the relationship between bias in simulated sea surface temperature (SST) in the equatorial eastern Pacific cold tongue during the boreal spring as simulated by an oceanic general circulation model (OGCM) and minimal wind mixing (MWM) at the surface. The cold bias of simulated SST is the greatest during the boreal spring, at approximately 3°C. A sensitivity experiment reducing MWM by one order of magnitude greatly alleviates cold biases, especially in March-April. The decrease in bias is primarily due to weakened vertical mixing, which preserves heat in the uppermost layer and results in warmer simulated SST. The reduction in vertical mixing also leads to a weak westward current in the upper layer, which further contributes to SST warming. These findings imply that there are large uncertainties about simple model parameters such as MWM at the oceanic surface

Purpose: To investigate the immunomodulatory and antitumor activities of ligustilide (LIG) extracted from Angelica sinensis in mice. Methods: Normal and tumor-bearing Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) mice were treated p.o. with LIG (5, 20 and 80 mg/kg/day) for 7 days. In normal ICR mice, phagocytosis of peritoneal macrophages and serum hemolysin concentration were assessed by chicken red blood cell ingestion test and quantitative hemolysis of sheep red blood cells assay, respectively. Lymphocyte proliferation was determined by 3-(4,5)-dimethylthiahiazo (-z-y1)-3,5-di-phenytetrazoliumromide (MTT) method. Both cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) and natural killer (NK) cell activities were evaluated by lactate-dehydrogenaserelease assay. H22 ascites tumor cells were inoculated subcutaneously into ICR mice, followed by the determination of antitumor activity of LIG in the H22-bearing mice. Results: LIG significantly increased thymus and spleen index, macrophage phagocytosis, serum hemolysin concentration, spleen lymphocyte proliferation and CTL and NK cell activities in normal ICR mice, but inhibited the growth of transplantable H22 hepatoma. The effect was dose-related but not in a linear fashion. A dose of 20 mg/kg dose was more effective than 5 and 80 mg/kg doses. Conclusion: These results suggest that LIG at 20 mg/kg has a highly boosted the immune system and tumor inhibition

Reconstruction of 2D Al Ti on TiB in an aluminium melt

It has been widely considered that Al Ti is involved in the aluminium nucleation on TiB , although the mechanism has not been fully understood. In this paper molecular dynamics has been conducted to investigate this phenomenon at an atomistic scale. It was found that a two-dimensional Al Ti layer may remain on TiB above the aluminium liquidus. In addition, the results showed that this 2D Al Ti undergoes interface reconstruction by forming a triangular pattern. This triangular pattern consists of different alternative stacking sequences. The transition region between the triangles forms an area of strain concentration. By means of this mechanism, this interfacial Al Ti layer stabilizes itself by localizing the large misfit strain between TiB and Al Ti This reconstruction is similar to the hdp-fcc interface reconstruction in other systems which has been observed experimentally.EPSR
